How do i get my stepdad to stop smoking? -
Ok my stepdad is a really good guy and he cares a lot about my mom and me... but he smokes. well he only smokes in the backyard... at first when i smelled the smoke i would be like, -Ew its smelly!!!- but i think i might be addicted to the smell. i mean like today when my stepdad smoked in the back yard (i was inside the house) i almost inhaled the smell cuz it smelled kinda good... ok i tell him to stop smoking a lot, cuz u know wut smoking does to ur lungs.PLZ HELP ME!!!!! I DON-T WANNA SMOKE OR BECOME ONE OF THOSE TEENAGERS WHO LIKE SMOKE!!!!!!
even when i close the windows i could still smell the smoke...
btw i-m only 13...don-t smoke
i quit smoking 1.5 yrs ago now..and not one person telling or asking me to stop had an effect on me to stop. I stopped finally only because I wanted to, I need to, and that I was totally DONE w/those nasty things that took the life of a dear friend a few monts prior to my decision.
when my step girls were your age, they were the same way. Funny tho how one now 17 ended up smoking briefly...err.
Your step dad is a grown person. He knows the risks, the health issues. Stopping anyone from an addiction is hard as that person really has to want to stop and quit for themselves first. Do not take it personal. Don-t say things like, -if you love me and my mom you would quit.- because that will only bring on guilt to him and could make things worse.
I am sorry that I don-t have the answers you want but it is really about the person wanting to stop on their own, or when ready.
good luckhave a seriouse talk with him your mom and yourself. I did this when I was only nine, and I asked them to stop. After talking it over me and my bro and sis threw everything out on my birthday(they did it as a b-day gift lol =] ) just talk to them and Im sure he will understand, and your mom will probably back you up on it.Just ignore what your step dad is doing because you cant stop him to smoke and he wont listen to you.
As far as the fear of inhaling the smell of smoking or like the smell is concerned theres no harm to smell it. Concentrate on your studies rathar than thinking of it. Divert you mind and study well.dnt worry u cnt get addicted from 2nd hand smoke n unfortunately the only person that can stop ur step dad from smoking is him.go on google and show him a bunch of cancer illed smoker-s lungs and hearts and stuff. its pretty gross looking
