Stoping smoking? -

Stoping smoking? -

i am going to stop smoking the nurse at work called in some stuff called chantix has anyone herd of this and if it works good i herd it makes u lose the craving totaly after 2 weeks i have been smoking 4 20 years and am tired of it the money ect.if this were to fail what else is out theresupposed to be real quick and easy. there-s always lung cancer.i have been smoking for 10+ years and tried the patch which didn-t work for me. i am getting ready to try the chantx. i know a few people that it worked for. hey it is worth a shotwhy stop smoking?
it makes u look soooo coolWILL POWER!

You need to want to stop or else all the products in the world will fail.

My husband and i both decided to stop before we started trying for a baby.

My daughter is now 6 and a half and i havent had a cigarette in 8 years. My husband is still on 20 a day. He has TRIED every product on the market, but he hasn-t TRIED to give them up.

I just stopped buying smokes.

simple as that.my brother used it. it works great. he had no problems quiting after 30 years of smoking. go for it.
good luck:)I have heard of it
I work at a hospital and some of my patients were taking it and I asked them about it (I smoke too)
My patients have told me that it has been great. They say it removes all the desire and withdrawl
I-ve thought about trying it myself
I do know that it is NOT an antidepressant like the last medicine prescribed for quitting smoking - wellbutrin
nicotine -plugs- into receptors in the brain, when the nicotine starts running out, you start having cravings but this medication -plugs- into the same receptors in the brain so it blocks the craving and withdrawl that not smoking would causethere are a lot of methods to quit like the patch or nicotine gum. i work in a hospital and have heard GREAT things about Chantix, but there are some low risk side effects like depression or nightmares. Good luck and good for you for finally quitting!I heard the physical addiction stops after a few days, but the psychological attachment is the kicker. You have to change your everyday habits to trick yourself into believing that addiction is just in your head.I cantMy husband and I just quit cold turkey. It was very hard, and people that don-t smoke have no idea. You really have to want to quit smoking though, but once you-re past the first month it-s all down hill. I was thinking about cigarettes every hour it felt like that first month and then one day I woke up and realized I hadn-t thought about smoking for a days! It was very exciting. Doing it with someone is helpful only because you-ll be held accountable.Well. Never heard of that?? But....Don-t chew the gum for it! You get hooked on that. Try eating jelly beans, sunflower seeds... Peanuts or something like that as crazy as that sounds! But you gotta have something to get your mind of that Cigs. If you wanna chew the gum.. Don-t get regular gum or something. My friend is STILL hooked back to this day with that gum. Ughh..

My friend was smoking for 28 years. He stopped. And always bough a bag of sunflower seeds 99cents! (cheaper then Cigs) and it has been cig free for 3 years now!

But good luck! Best wishesi quit for a minute

its a totally free way

and it was effective for me

i just took the biggest drag of my life in one breath... and it made me sick and throw up

after that i didnt want a cigg for a while

thats how i quit

ive never heard of chantix

but good luck!!!I quit 3 weeks ago yesterday on the nicotine patch. Some people try using the gum, there is another pill I heard of called Wellbutrin but I believe it is also treated for depression. Try that first and then talk to your doctor if you need to try something else. GOOD LUCK!!!It works, but can make you a bit nauseated feeling and weird dreams on it. My friend used it with success, it takes the reward away from smoking by blocking nicotine from entering the brain or blood stream. She quit smoking for 2 months while on it only to start back up smoking again. She started smoking again because she missed the psychological part of it, sitting on the back porch relaxing with a cig and talking on the phone, after a meal etc.Congrats, on quiting. i quit over 2 years ago. I ran out a 5 in the morning and never bought another pack. Of course I looked at it like this : I was paying someone $1100.00 a year to kill me.- Kinda gave me a new perspective on smoking.
Best Of Luck,
Ldon-t stoping smokingI have heard many good things from now former smokers about Chantix. The cravings do go away, but I have also heard that it seriously messes with your sleep.

Someone told me that a guy that was mild mannered started using Chanitx, and ended up sleep walking in the neighborhood, beat on someones door and got shot in the night. Freak accident or rumor, I don-t know.

My wife and I have to boxes of it on top of the fridge, because we are feeling the same way you do. It is nasty, expensive, and just unhealthy in general, plus we have a daughter to live for in a healthy manner.

One co-worker tried it, but she had chest pains while on it, and had nothing show up on stress and eco tests. Maybe her pain was from getting all of that crap out of her lungs, and they didn-t know how to function with O2.

All in all, good things about Chantix, but I have yet to try to kick the habit. Maybe now that it is freezing out, I will realize how stupid it is to bundle up and go outside for a 2 minute, crappy tasting, nose irritating, phloem creating, cancer stick!

I need to wise up! :)Quitting smoking is more of a mental thing....the physical addicition can only be revoked if you tell your mind that you do not need the cigarette...which can be hard.....i-ve been on the patch. the gum.....dint do nothing for me....2 days later i was on the end of a Lucky Strike...so its hard unless you have made up your mind about quitting...if so, stick to it....i heard its really hard for the first few days, maybe weeks......but after that, its all worth it....u should stop smoking just throw the packs away u can die from smokingits called cold turkey and its cheap and its hard and you will be so mean so get some gum and get some hard candy and tell people you know so they will help you its been one year and 4 months i smoked for 30 years and guess what after several treatments and several i quits i finally have stopped so you can do this and good luckI was diagnosed with Emphysema after 40 years of smoking. it is bad, I can hardly breath.I f you look at photos of Emphysema it should make you quit. Good luckThe success rate with Chantix is supposed to be 40% so hopefully you will end up in that 40 % and not the 60% who fail, if you try it out.a woman i work with was talking about, her mother used it stoped smoking in 1 week after smoking 30 years we are still waiting to see if its a long term she is 70 yrs old--had to get thru docWanna stop smoking get hooked on nicoteine gum instead.

It worked for a colleague of mine, he-s been hooked on the stuff for years.
