When you are smoking? -
Is it true that your Metabolism speeds up when you start smoking? And slows down again when you stop smoking?yes it speeds i thing soThe mixture of nicotine and carbon monoxide in each cigarette you smoke temporarily increases your heart rate and blood pressure, straining your heart and blood vessels. This can cause heart attacks and stroke. It slows your blood flow, cutting off oxygen to your feet and hands. Some smokers end up having their limbs amputated.
Benzene (petrol additive)
A colourless cyclic hydrocarbon obtained from coal and petroleum, used as a solvent in fuel and in chemical manufacture - and contained in cigarette smoke. It is a known carcinogen and is associated with leukaemia.
Formaldehyde (embalming fluid)

Nicotine (insecticide/addictive drug)
One of the most addictive substances known to man, a powerful and fast-acting medical and non-medical poison. This is the chemical which causes addiction.dont know, dont smokeNo, nothing to do with your metabolism. If it were the case then coffee would be considered as a metabolism booster as well as cocaine and other drugs. And if that were true, then there would be an assortment of pills you could take that contain such elements, but you and I know, these pills don-t work because it-s all a bunch of bullcrap. Not sure, but blood pressure can go up.Yes, it is true. That being said, gaining a few pounds by quitting is still better for you.Yes it does,,,I found out the hard way that my metabolism slows down when you stop smoking,,,I gained over fifty pounds in a very short time and it took me forever to lose itMetabolism, involves both (a) Anabolism, which is the synthesis of more complex substances from simpler ones, and (b) Catabolism, which is the breakdown of more complex substances into simpler ones with release of energy. Its pace speeds-up only when you do vigorous physical exercises, or when you are rigorously straining your mind.
...Since nicotine is a proven depressant [a chemical agent which causes a person’s physiological activities or psychological responses to slow down], it definitely affects your metabolism !
...Your metabolism SLOWS down while you keep smoking - and slowly returns to NORMAL when you give up smoking. And not in the way in which you have put it !i dont smokin dear Nadia...
wer r u from?yes true. When you smoke its not very fast but faster than usual. When you dont smoke you eat more and the chemicals from smoking are missing and are not there to help break down the food.yepYessmoking is bad, you should stop. from smoking you can get a lot of things like cancer, then you want to sue the companies for money when you should of stop smoking in the first place. also when you smoke you stink and so does your car and homeit doesyes i believe that smoking has something to do with speeding up your metabolism; partly due to the nicotine in the cigarette - partly it depends on the person-s own metabolism.Yes,it does.So the chance of putting of gaining extra weight is there, especially because you replace the smoking by snacking all the time:you are used putting something in your mouth! So be aware of that side effect.
Take that in mind.
Bye the way:you,d better not smoke, but you do know that,do you not?Like everybody does.!!!!!!!Nicotine causes the body to try to cope so yes you do stress your system. Please don-t smoke. It is very bad for you and you will stink.NO!! it means that your arteries are closing down, narrowing the passage of blood-flow, waiting for the blood-clot that is going to break away from the lining and kill you when it reaches your heart!!!yeah thats trueI dont think its got to do with your metabolism but you do gain weight if you stop smoking. Maybe its because you eat more to keep your mouth busy
