Why do I feel worse after quitting smoking cigarettes? -
I am taking Chantix and stopped smoking 8 days ago. The firs 6 days or so my lungs felt better every day, but yesterday - today it almost feels like it-s hard to breathe. They are clear but don-t feel as fresh as they felt the immediate days after I stopped smoking. Does this go away or did my smoking cause permanent damage? By the way, Chantix is the only thing that ever helped me stop smokingIn your lungs you have little finger like things called cillia. They bring the crap out of your lungs. Everytime you smoke, you destroy those guys. (which is why the best way to calm a smokers cough is to smoke) Now that you-ve quit injuring them, good for you by the way, the cillia are growing back, and are starting to clean up the joint. Their, the cillia-s, first order of business is to get as much of that poison as possible out of your lungs. Don-t start again, let them do their thing. You will be better as time goes by. Hang in there.feelings of withdraw. You are going through withdrawal so it is normal for you to feel lousy. The only way you can find out whether smoking damaged your lungs is to go to a Dr. for an X-ray. Hang in there. You can beat cigs.coz its addictive...any thing with addictive stuff in it like nicotine or caffeine is addicitve makes u go through that terrible feeling (the withdrawal symptoms)... it sure will pass... my dad went thru the same but hes perfect now...he says its great to be a non smoker and he feels proud of himself that he made it!...get off the chantix and within three days you should feel a lot better. It is normal to feel kind of crummy for about a month after quitting. My husband and I took almost 2 months to start feeling really good! We quit with auricular therapy 2 1/2 years ago. Congratulations. Keep working at it...the first month is murder!Good luck!your body wants that nicotien, and all that junk in your lungs is getting coughed up probably as your lungs try to heal themselves.i don-t know why that happens.It-s probably because you were addicted and your body needs time to recover.you are detoxing and all the poisons are working out of your system, the first few days you felt better because it gave your body a rest with plenty of nicotine still in your blood stream
now you are cleansing and that always causes suffering.
If you are only on day 8, I wouldn-t be to proud of that chantix, you still haven-t actually quit yet.Because your body is in the process of detoxing...it-s removing a chemical that your body is used to getting on a regular/hourly basis. It takes a full 25-30 days for your body to remove nicotine out of it-s system...that is if you-re not using a nicotine patch, pill. etc. to help relieve your withdrawal symptoms. You may feel worst because your body isnt use to you not having smoke in your system and hopefully its just temporary because of that reason if it continues I think you should see a docter.
