Can smoking marijuana kill your sperm bank? -
ok so i have a friend that used to smoke weed everyday. and he told me that its hard for him to have kids now because smoking marijuana kills your sperm and give you a less of a chance to have a kid. so i was talking to my boyfriend and his starting to smoke weed twice a day and it really does bother me because i want to have a kid. and i told him that he needs to stop smoking because it gives you a less of a chance to have a kid. so i just want to know the truth does marijuana give you a less of a chance to have a kid or not??? im really confused about it??? i know it sounds silly. but i want to know the negatives about marijuana. im not against it.I-m not a proponent of MJ by any means, but the actual fact of it is that this is unlikely to be something that he could realistically compare.Fertility has many, many factors and the most important of these is genes. I mean, there-s always the story that runs around -if your parents weren-t fertile, you probably won-t be either-, but in a real sense, the genetic factor is still the most influential.
The next is probably environment and physical condition of the relevant bits and pieces. If the guy is old, if his general health is poor or if he has put himself in a position of having physical damage (motorcycle and bicycle use is a common influencing factor in fertility for a man).
MJ has been linked to a few aspects of sexual function. It has been linked to an increase in odds for getting testicular cancer (which is the opposite of evidence for MJ--lung cancer), and it has been noted that it can worsen your chances of fertility with increased dead sperm and possibly other defects in sperm that lead to failed pregnancies.
However, if he -used to- smoke every day, it-s not likely a hugely significant factor for him right now. It is far more likely that he started with lower chances and his smoking MJ worsened that. In a sense, that may be all that he is saying, and he would therefore be correct, but what I-m saying is that he might not have found it noticeably easier to impregnate his partner if he had never smoked up at all.
For your case, if you are trying to get pregnant, I-d say that you would want to get your BF to stop smoking completely. If he-s not willing to stop smoking for the health of his significant other, he should be a man and let you find a man who actually cares about you.
At the VERY least, he should stop smoking during your pregnancy (and I include all forms of smoking, MJ and tobacco) and probably for at least the first few years of the child-s life. If he-s not willing to that, he-s already showing that he-s not willing to be a decent father and you should walk away.
The unpleasant truth is that if his fertility is good, he could still impregnate you, but with damaged sperm, the result could be a miscarriage, stillbirth, or serious defects in the child. Those risks increase as well. And it sure as heck isn-t going to be him that carries the heavy burden of a miscarriage around for the rest of his life... Don-t believe me? ask around some of your older women friends and you will likely find someone who has experienced a miscarriage. My sister has had 2. Another friend of mine had one when she was in her teens and now, in her 70-s, she tells that she still remembers it and dreams of the lost child.
Not to mention the fact that there is nothing really truthfully positive that comes from MJ use beyond the momentary experience. For example, glaucoma is often used as an excuse to use MJ, but the correction for glaucoma within actual medical circles is a laser surgery that takes around 30 seconds and can be done on an outpatient basis with 5 minutes notice and the -sufferer- will be on the street again within 15 minutes. But you have to go to a real doctor to get that...
The point is, if your bf only smokes up because it feels good for an hour or so and isn-t willing to give it up for a few years to take care of the miracle of life, it raises some pretty serious questions about his character and how he will behave later on.
As to specifics on MJ-s effect on fertility, you should hit your yellow pages and check in to your local fertility clinic. Most large cities have one. They probably have pamphlets with info in their waiting room, but it would be worth it to skip that and talk to an actual medical doctor there for a brief consultation to get an idea how much of that information is actually truthful.
Don-t forget, MJ may be a -soft drug-, but it-s still a psychoactive substance. When you are dealing with pregnancy, you need to pay attention to every substance you take in. What you as the adult experience as a bunch of stinky smoke, might contain enough THC to cause effects similar to massive doses to a tiny foetus.
Incidentally, a man doesn-t really have a -sperm bank-. The body produces sperm basically constantly. Sperm doesn-t sit around all that long in the body compared to a female-s eggs which are basically all ready to go by the time a girl hits puberty.no, that is just a myth that was made to scare people, which was smart for the government to say because nobody wants to lose sperm. dont worry and just let him keep smoking.Once again, another one of the government-s myths has found it-s way to the question board.i think it might redue sperm count but it shouldnt effect you having a kid....it wont cause sterlity
