How can i stop smoking? -
I just quit smoking 3 months ago because I now have the beginning of emphysema. So, it-s good to hear that you want to quit. To start with, you must really WANT to quit. For me, none of the stop-smoking aids helped. I finally got angry with myself for slowly killing myself smoking that I told myself -I quit!-The very best thing to do first is to break the -habits- that go along with lighting up. Everytime I talked on the phone, I lit up. After I ate, I lit up and found out I had many habits that went along with smoking. When I quit, I would immediately do something different, like change from sitting at my chair I always sat in to chat. I went sit at the kitchen table. I did this with all the habits I realized I had. That helped a lot! I also bought some hot cinnamon hard candy to pop in my mouth when I got a craving because it stimulates the mouth and it got me through the cravings really well. If the candy didn-t work as well at times, I got up and started doing something, like cleaning something or go outside and do something, anything to get throught the cravings. It worked very well, also. After doing this for a week, it gets a lot easier. Once you have about a month of no smoking, the thought of a cigarette gets less and less. Some say you always will find times you will crave one, but just wait 5 minutes and the thought will leave your mind.
It is very hard to quit and to stay quit. But, with aggresive willpower and determination, you CAN do it. I smoked for over 36 yrs. and was smoking over 2 packs a day! If I can do it, anybody can. The main thing is that you WANT to quit. The best of luck to you!!!Go on a vacation or something where you can-t get any ciggarettes. My college professor was telling my class the other day that when she went to Africa for a year she quit smoking because she couldn-t. You could just go on a camping trip or something simple like that. Hopefully the fresh air will make your lungs nice and happy.
Pretty much everyone I know that has quit successfully quit cold turkey.Nicotine gum, the patch, or cold turkey.
It-s hard, but it-s worth it. Make the choice.
I quit cold turkey. Nicotine gum didn-t work for me. Just get through the first 3 days - those are the hardest. Once you are no longer a slave to nicotine you will feel tons better.Well, I-ll buy gum just get some gum and if this deosn-t work just talk to someone about it and ask them how to stop smoking.STOP BUYING CIGARETTES
