TRUE or FALSE stop smoking and can gain weight? -

TRUE or FALSE stop smoking and can gain weight? -

Not necessarily!!! True - False
Depends on person - how they-re dealing with quitting.

Google Amer. Lung Assoc. Quitting tipsTrue, you can gain weight... Quiting smoking stops the tar buildup on your taste buds... Making you able to taste much more flaver in food... witch can lead to making you eat more... because food tastes much better... plus some people eat when there nevious.. and quiting can effect your nerves temporarily... but the long term effects of quiting positively far out way a little weight gain. Quit and save your health and many years of your life.Smoking and weight gain/loss have nothing to do with each other. There are skinny people around who don-t smoke, and there are over weight people who smoke. As well, as skinny people who smoke etc...
It just depends on the person and their eating habits.Mmmm....it actually depends. For the most part, people who smoke and then stop don-t gain weight, but for some other people who have bad eating problems and are already overweight, that might happen to them.so are you smoking to lose weight ? i dont see the relation between the two unless its for the above reason

How do i get my stepdad to stop smoking? -

How do i get my stepdad to stop smoking? -

Ok my stepdad is a really good guy and he cares a lot about my mom and me... but he smokes. well he only smokes in the backyard... at first when i smelled the smoke i would be like, -Ew its smelly!!!- but i think i might be addicted to the smell. i mean like today when my stepdad smoked in the back yard (i was inside the house) i almost inhaled the smell cuz it smelled kinda good... ok i tell him to stop smoking a lot, cuz u know wut smoking does to ur lungs.

PLZ HELP ME!!!!! I DON-T WANNA SMOKE OR BECOME ONE OF THOSE TEENAGERS WHO LIKE SMOKE!!!!!!

even when i close the windows i could still smell the smoke...

btw i-m only 13...don-t smoke

i quit smoking 1.5 yrs ago now..and not one person telling or asking me to stop had an effect on me to stop. I stopped finally only because I wanted to, I need to, and that I was totally DONE w/those nasty things that took the life of a dear friend a few monts prior to my decision.

when my step girls were your age, they were the same way. Funny tho how one now 17 ended up smoking briefly...err.

Your step dad is a grown person. He knows the risks, the health issues. Stopping anyone from an addiction is hard as that person really has to want to stop and quit for themselves first. Do not take it personal. Don-t say things like, -if you love me and my mom you would quit.- because that will only bring on guilt to him and could make things worse.

I am sorry that I don-t have the answers you want but it is really about the person wanting to stop on their own, or when ready.

good luckhave a seriouse talk with him your mom and yourself. I did this when I was only nine, and I asked them to stop. After talking it over me and my bro and sis threw everything out on my birthday(they did it as a b-day gift lol =] ) just talk to them and Im sure he will understand, and your mom will probably back you up on it.Just ignore what your step dad is doing because you cant stop him to smoke and he wont listen to you.
As far as the fear of inhaling the smell of smoking or like the smell is concerned theres no harm to smell it. Concentrate on your studies rathar than thinking of it. Divert you mind and study well.dnt worry u cnt get addicted from 2nd hand smoke n unfortunately the only person that can stop ur step dad from smoking is him.go on google and show him a bunch of cancer illed smoker-s lungs and hearts and stuff. its pretty gross looking

What do I do when my 14 year old friend is mad at me for me trying to help her stop smoking? And what can I do -

What do I do when my 14 year old friend is mad at me for me trying to help her stop smoking? And what can I do -

ALL ABOUT SMOKING BUT NO CATEGORY FOR THATShe has to WANT to quit, and if she doesn-t, nothing you say can get her to quit. Smokers have an -I-ll do it if I want to, dammit!- reflex that makes them get pissed off if you try to help them and they don-t want help. This is true even if she tried to quit and then decided it was easier to keep smoking. There-s not really a lot you can do other than drop the subject.tell her that when you smoke you lose 5 seconds of your life and it will make you fat and you wont look as pretty and you will have bad breathJust mind your own business.
People are going to do what they want.
Hang out with a new friend.well u was right smoking is a bad thing for any age so first don-t get nad at your self just tell a grown up what is going on maybe they can help your friend they might still be mad but u saved their life in the long runGo to a library, and check out a book, show her lungs of a smoker and how they die...not a pretty thing.Well.. if she doesn-t want to quit you have to convince her not force her. She is human wich makes her independant so it-s really up to her.

Why cant i , no matter what i try ,stop smoking ? -

Why cant i , no matter what i try ,stop smoking ? -

This method works for me and is the only money back guaranteed.
I quit smoking 2 years ago

Get the Facts
Easyway, founded by Allen Carr in 1983, has the highest independently verified 12-month success rate (75.8% for a smoker completing the program) of any quit smoking technique and a 90% satisfaction rating.

Compare Easyway to other methods and see for yourself why Easyway is called “The Cadillac of quit smoking methods.”

The Allen Carr Method
HOW THE METHOD WORKS

Using psychotherapy, the method works in the opposite way to the “willpower” method. It does not concentrate on the reasons the smoker should not smoke : the money, the slavery, the health risks and the stigma. Smokers know all that already. Instead it focuses on why smokers continue to smoke in spite of the obvious disadvantages.

It is fear that keeps smokers hooked!

Fear the smoker will have to give up their pleasure or crutch. Fear the smoker will be unable to enjoy life or handle stress. Fear the smoker will have to go through an awful trauma to get free. Fear the smoker will never get completely free from the craving.

The Method removes these fears
Smokers quit with the Allen Carr Method as happy non-smokers, not feeling deprived but with a huge sense of relief and elation that they have finally achieved what they always wanted….

TO BE FREE!

What about the terrible withdrawal pangs from nicotine?

The physical withdrawal from nicotine is so slight that most smokers don’t realise that they are addicts. What smokers suffer when they try and quit using other methods is the misery and depression caused by the belief that they are being deprived of a pleasure or a crutch.

The Allen Carr Method removes this feeling of deprivation.
It removes the need and desire to smoke. Once the smoker is in the right frame of mind and they follow the simple instructions, the physical withdrawal from nicotine is hardly noticeable.

No Gimmicks!

The Method does not use any gimmicks, useless aids or substitutes. No nicotine gum, patches, lozenges, tabs, inhilators or nasal sprays! No needles! No lasers! No drugs! No herbs! No shock treatment!

The Allen Carr Method is successful because:

It removes the smokers’ conflict of will.
There are no bad withdrawal pangs.
It is instantaneous and easy.
It is equally effective for long-term heavy smokers and light smokers.
You need not gain weight.
You will not miss smoking.

Medical Endorsements

A personal view from Professor Judith Mackay MBE, JP, FRCO (Edin), FRCP (Lon), World Health Organisation Advisory Panel on Tobacco and Health

“I have no hesitation in supporting Allen Carr’s work. Many clinics use some of his techniques but it would appear that few do it in quite such a successful package.”

Carole Johnson, Coronary Heart Disease Prevention Unit, Tyne Tees

“his success rate was such that, when budgets allow, we continue to use Easyway for work with specific groups and individuals.”

Dr Anil Visa BSc, MBBch., FRCA, Consultant – Royal Hospitals NHS Trust – Royal London Hospital

“I have observed the Allen Carr method at first hand and have found it to be very successful and I wholeheartedly support it as an effective way to quit smoking.”

Dr William Green, Head of Psychiatric Dept, Matilda Hospital, Hong Kong

“It is a remarkable fact that Allen Carr, on his own admission a non-professional in behaviour modification, should have succeeded where countless psychologists and psychiatrists holding postgraduate qualifications have failed, in formulating a simple and effective way to stop smoking.”

Dr Martin Jarvis, Principle Scientist, Imperial Cancer Research
Fund and Reader in Health Psychology, University College London

”...I am more than happy to testify to Allen Carr’s enduring involvement and to recognise the value of the kind of behavioural and cognitive support he provides.”

Dr PM Bray MB CH.b., MRCGP

“I was really impressed by the method. In spite of the Allen Carr organisation’s success and fame, there were no gimmicks and the professional approach was something a GP could readily respect. I would be happy to give a medical endorsement of the method to anyone.”

Celebrity Endorsements

-His method is absolutely unique, removing the dependence on cigarettes, while you are actually smoking. I’m pleased to say it has worked for many of my friends and staff.”
Sir Richard Branson

“Some friends of mine who had stopped using Allen Carr’s method suggested I tried it. I did. It was such a revelation that instantly I was freed from my addiction. Like those friends of mine, I found it not only easy but unbelievably enjoyable to stay stopped.”
Sir Anthony Hopkins

GOOD LUCKKeep trying my friend... I struggled like you and I am off of smoking 8 months now. Have determination... use patch or gum if necessary.you are simple not ready to quit.
when you are ready you will simply not have the next cigarette. You really don-t need to quit. Just delay having that next cigarette. I have delayed mine for 10 years now. You quit one cigarette urge at a time. Don-t try to take on to ambitious a plan at first. not one day at a time, it is one urge at a time.YOU HAVE TO WANT TO QUIT FIRST!!!

I smoked for 22 years and today is my 100th day SMOKE
FREE!!!!

I tried many times to quit but I never really wanted to quit till now. You have to finally realize that you are ready to QUIT and then its called -determination - will power- and the patch deos work if you use it correctly............ You will do it when you are READY!!!

----It is a never ending battle ---You need to decide that you-re going to do it and just do it. If you need reasons why, go to a Nursing Home and volunteer, find someone with Emphysema or CHF and see where you-ll be if you don-t quit.Maybe you-re not doing the right things or you-re just not trying hard enough.because smoking is addicticve. duh.
