hi. my friend initially dint have any sort of bad habits. he was perfectly ok for 2 years. but for the past6 months he started smoking and it increased every month.am scared that his health is being affected very badly. he said me that he-ll quit smoking within 3 months and its gonna end this month but he seemed to only increase in smoking. am so much concerned about his health. he is a science student and he clearly knows all its impacts on health.all of us are advicing him often. but no use. cant leave my friend like that.now he is smoking too much he-s gonna become a chain smoker. i want him to make him stop smoking. i-ll do anything for it.pls friends tell me how can i make him quit smoking? plssss tell me.suggest your effective ideas1) Approach his parents and suggest them to deactivate the cable connection / DTH in his house, as today-s youngsters have a craze for film star-s and tend to blindly imitate their actions. Let him listen to songs from FM radio.
2) As one of the previous answerers suggested ask him to make either of choice, shunning the habit or snapping ties with you.
3) Suggest his parents to refrain from sending him to tours,theatres with his friends or collegemates. Most college boys in my experience get tempted to smoke more mainly due to peer group influence.
4) Try to find if some undisclosed worry or problem is haunting his mind, in such case assure that
you will endeavour to solve those within your capacity.
5) Ask him if he would tolerate if his son smokes before him when grown up ? If still, he does not leave the habit, console yourself that it is his fate. Atleast ask him to smoke in a secluded place , as inhaling the smell would be detrimental to the good health of others too.Introduce him to a new friend or hobby you think he can enjoy instead of cigarettes.
Tell him that he might have to try quitting several times until he are successful and offer him some quit smoking aids such as stop smoking herbs in order to help him in quitting smoking successfully.Reasoning won′t do it. The only way is to either shame him or scare him into stopping.If you really care for him then create a scene and tell him to chose between the tobacco or you. You have to be prepared to go through with this.I had been smoking for thirty five years when I was shamed into stopping by a friend, albeit inadvertently. I haven′t smoked now for more than twenty years.maybe this will help yours friend to stop smoking,

ask him to adopt another habit like chewing gum or somethingu cant see u r friend being a smoker...but i think he is doing it because he wants to...not that he dosent know the effects..do his family know this?i doubt...if you know any one of his family,go tell them that their son/brother is smoking hell.If you dont want to come upon you,you can ask them to keep it a secret that you told

people are saying my metabolism is slowing down -it will take a year to get back to normal, can anyone please explain this to me?Your body is reajusting to these new changes, so it will take for your body to catch up. As you are exercising as well that will make a difference as fat turns into muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. I always go by the size of my clothes than my weight as I do a lot of exercise so even though my body shape changes alot don-t really change on the scales because a lot of my fat has turned in to muscle.

Here-s sum simple tips besides the obvious of exercises and eating healthy
I used to eat from paper plates to absorbs any extra oils or fats
eat plenty of chili as it increases your metabolism
Give yourself treats as rewards eg a facial
water before meals to fill you
drink iced water as ur body uses Cal-s to warm it up
eating celery burns more cals, dan whats in d actual celery stick
and eat from a small plate, wit a small spoon, and put in down between mouthfuls, and not in front of the tv, tricks your mind you-ve eaten loads

How are you watching what you eat exactly? And walking in itself doesnt burn that many calories. My guess would be you need to up your cardio a little bit to match the adjustment.
Add some running and some cycling maybe into your workouts. Try jogging for at least half an hour (or build up to it). Also build up your muscles as this will make your metabolism work better too.Well done so far and keep it up!
Maybe add cycling (real or exercise bike) to the exercise regime and watch what you eat by counting calories or what worked for me was changing what I eat during the day to low calorie foods so i didn-t feel that I was depriving myself; things like fruit and pickles.Your metabolism will slow down as you get older. Even though swiming is really good for you it is not great for loosing weight. I have found the best way to loose weight is running. A friend of mine ran 5 miles a day for 2 months and lost 2 stone, that was with healthy eating.As your body is expunging itself of the -gunge- from it-s system built up from your smoking it is able to synthesise more of the nutrients from your food. This process will stabilise and if you continue with your current regime you will begin to lose weight soon.I-m in the same situation and it-s really depressing, so I-ll be watching your post with interest.

There are anti smoking homeopathy pills available. Try this.if you are talking about cigs. i have never heard of a rehab 4 cigs. but 4 drugs there are some all over look in your yellow pages or google it -31800-QUIT-NOW
I never called them personally, I-ve seen commercials.
What I did was every ten days, smoke one less.
Eventually I got bored, cut down to three a day.
Put it out if you aren-t enjoying it.
Then to one, then finished.

I was a chain smoker till about 22 years back. I was a government Officer and had my own cabin for office job. Next to my cabin, one other officer was occupying who was an Asthama patient and he used to cough and feel disturbed whenever I smoke. But I did not attach much attention to his ill-health. One day, when I was smoking, I heard an un-natural sound and I got up to see what actually happens. I could see the officer is in bad shape and is vomitting. I immediately entered inside his cabin, done some known first-aid and after some time he reached normalcy.
My above experience shaked my mind, I immediately destroyed all the cigrettes left in my drawer, took a very strong decision that I will not smoke in future. Now as on date I am 58 years plus age and did not broke my decision which could be attained with a strong WILL only. Further, I want to add that before this incident, I tried many ways - means to stop smoking, but all in vain. Any effort without a strong WILL, in my opinion may be a failure and resort to smoking after a small spell with or without reasons or due to varied circumstances.
