I have stopped smoking for 16 weeks? -

but the urge seems to be getting worse would anybody recommend hypnoses or any thing else I could try . I feel like going back on the fagstry chewwing gum or having a bottle of water because u no how u need that hand to mouth thing ur used to well it is the same so try itsmoking is cool, all the Hollywood Golden Age stars smokedGo to your doctor and get a prescription for anti smoking patches ,they do work, just fight it will go away keep it up you are doing fine remember dunkirk spiritget medical help..you seem addicted to some stuff in that smoke...Oh I know it does, but stick with it. I promise you, the urges will get less and not so often I gave up 18 months ago and it hardly bothers me at all now, Used to though. Whatever you do, don-t give up All the hard work will be wasted...remember why you gave up .i am still a smoker and hate it .carry on mate *** all the gum and other **** you will just confuse your mindtry chewing on gum

and congradulations on quitting smoking =)Congrats on being a non smoker, it is hard but don-t give up. I am a non smoker now for 11 months now it does get easier. Keep reminder your self on all the bad health risk keeps me from not smoking.Don-t go back on the fags, keep goin and Very well done so far.try swapping the nicotine gum for a sugar free gum gradually chewing less of the nicotine 1 and more of the sugar free 1, then just worry about how to give up gum altogether. congrats on giving up anyway i wish i had the willpower to do it too.Mar, congratulations on being quit for so long!!! My longest quit attempt ever lasted 12 weeks, and like you I used the nicotine gum. I think that all that did was get me even more addicted, because once I started again, I ended up smoking even more than before I quit. I really need to try again, especially since I just found out that my 17 year old daughter has been smoking. Good luck!Smoke a few cigs a week won-t harm you and in fact can alleviate your craving. But since you have already stopped, I would suggest continue to build your mental power and stay away from it. I am an occasional smoker who smokes for pleasure and i usually smoke luxury cigs like Sobranie Black Russian. Or you could try pipe tobacco. But it seems like you belong to the most smokers who smoke without getting pleasure out it. So just continue what you are doing. Just hang on for a little longer.Hypnosis works
If you google -free hypnosis downloads- Im sure you-ll find some siteshave your arms amputated so you cant hold your ciggies to your mouthNiquitin Gums will help ease the urge. Also you could join a support group; i don-t think hypnosis will be a good idea though.First of all, GREAT job, you should be very proud of yourself!!! Rejoice that you are now a non-smoker! do NOT go around moping about it, you should be extrememly happy that you aren-t a slave to cigs anymore! Read -The Easy Way to Quit Smoking- by Allen Carr. It gives you a different perspective on smoking. I smoked for a long time, and its a great book to read. I quit reading that book and using Chantix, and that combination was perfect, its fail-proof!

If I am diagnosed with HIV, would drinking occasionally be bad? Should one completely stop smoking? -

In general yes. Keep in mind that alcohol is a poison, and although your white blood cells aren-t actively attacking it as they would an invading organism, you body has to fight to filter it from your blood. This diversion of resources to your liver and other filtration systems weakens the rest of your body, while at the same time the cells in your body are constantly absorbing the poison from your blood as you are drinking it, also weakening your body, especially your already compromised immune system.

Any weakening in your immune system is a bad thing with HIV, but more specifically AIDS. AIDS is the condition that HIV causes, and just because you have HIV doesn-t meant that you have AIDS yet (but you will.) You could technically be in the beginnings of HIV and have no problem fighting off infections yet, until you start developing AIDS, but since there is no exact chart telling you how weak you are/will get, its generally not a good idea.

As for smoking, it-s even worse. Drinking further weakens your body in general and makes it harder to fight off infections already in your body, but smoking causes damage to your lungs, including countless minuscule burns. These burns form a perfect vector for pathogens to travel across into your body. Essentially smoking would be just as bad as cutting up your hand with little paper cuts and then grasping a bathroom doorknob. My suggestion, if you want to live longer, Nix both of them.for me personally being HIV+, and a once often drinker the meds for treating your hiv can tend to have some pretty nasty side effects, ones that get worse for me when drinking so now I have a couple drinks on New Years and my B-Day and thats all I want but your doctors are going to want you to not drink but you should be ok if you do choose to do so. Just please dont over do it cause its not a good thing to do when your body is trying it-s best to keep you healthyIt is advisable to stop smoking and drinking during treatment as health is your wealth.
god bless you

What would u do if you are quiting smoking and u dont feel like quiting? -

I am trying to stop smoking and i don-t even no why am doing this ( logicaly i know ofcours ) i mean that i love smoking but i hated when it comes between some people who does-t really like u to be around them while u r smoking. And nowadays its important to respect others feeling even though u know that u don-t have to.I used to be a smoker 5 yrs ago and to me it-s the hardest thing to quit. Make sure that when you decide to quit, it-s something you really want to do for yourself, otherwise you-ll only end up smoking again. Set a quit date and when that date comes...stick with it. For a while, you have to avoid the things you associated with cigarettes (for example, if you drank coffee while smoking, you-ll have to stay away from coffee temporarily).
Basically, you have to change your whole routine and substitue something else for the cigs (like exercise).

The hardest part is the withdrawal symptoms and the cravings which lasted about 3 wks for me. After that, it got easier and easier. In the meantime, stay away from non-smokers and if you must, smoke outside, although that-s getting harder and harder nowadays with -no smoking- signs posted everywhere.i too am a smoker of many yrs and have tried to quit a few times ;but it;s no use going thru the motions till a person is really ready.if you still enjoy smoking and your health is not in danger because of it; then keep smoking,I hope you;ll quit before you get a smokers hack like i have.i bought patches today so Saturday is my quit date,,,,good luck......Shelly in SeattleI know it is hard to quit smoking, but whenever you have doubt, just remember that smoking can put you in your grave, it could put someone you love (who spends a lot of time with you) in their grave, plus, it makes you smelly! No Offense :) If you have children (or one day when you have children) it could put them at risk with the second hand smoke, AND it could make them think it is OK to smoke, which we all know that isn-t a good thing. I wish you luck and I hope you can get through this. If you slip up...Don-t give up. No one is perfect. God Bless!Just go outside to smoke.Until you decide you are quitting for you it won-t work--you will keep smoking.Think of all the negatives before you smoke, one smoke will take 7 minutes off your life, you-ll smell like an unattractive ashtray, and eww your teeth get yellow, find new hobbie or jog it off everytime you crave a smoke do like 10 push ups, take a nap or hang with friends that dont smoke, or positive people. It is hard because when you are young you cannot imagine why you should not smoke, and smoking helps fill that awkward silence in conversations, but imagine all those cigarettes stealing all that extra time from you.
Replace smoking with something else. think about what you love about smoking, the cost, the way you feel in the morning, the craving, the worry about when you can have your next cigarette, and find a hobby that is expensive, is obsessive, and that can ruin your health. maybe Nascar? Or you could take up yoga, which will give you the same deep breathing that smoking gives you without the bad stuff, and probably costs less than smoking.That-s the thing - you have to want to be a nonsmoker.
Good for you, though, that you are considerate of those around you. That-s a rare thing nowadays. Good luck.Well that must be really hard for you to do, to stop doing something that you enjoy. Just think about it, and if you still dont want to quit smoking then atleast just stop smoking around others.Maybe you can find yourself a treatment. Go to your doctor for treatment options. =] Think about the negative things that smoking can do to you... wrinkly, yellowish skin...yellow teeth because of the tar... you age quicker... bad for your lungs... can cause cancer =/
Get in the habit of NOT smoking. Avoid it. If someone offers you a cigarette, just say no. Good luck.I could really care less if you do or dont smoke die of cancer thats your choice!! Just stay the hell away from me! Smoking is gross you smell like an ash tray and I hate having to walk through people smoking outside doors I need to go in!! You know how hard it is to get that smell out of my hair!! PEOPLE WHO SMOKE ARE WEAK!!
