What are smoking lines? -

What are smoking lines? -

my friends want to stop smoking because they said we-re getting -smoking lines-
what are smoking lines? i don-t think i have any. i do not smoke cigarettes as much as my friends. my friends say that they have them. what causes them? do they actually exist?
i smoke pot. does that make smoking lines too?I agree with Dani. I believe -smoking lines- are the wrinkles you get from smoking cigarettes.. Now, I smoke, and that-s really the least of my concerns about it, but if that is enough to help your friend quit then that-s great. I-d be much more concerned about cancer than wrinkles though..

The wrinkles are caused by the action of putting the cigarette in your mouth and -scunching- your lips around the filter. Now, that being said, think of it this way:
As far as smoking pot goes, I-m sure that if you smoke cigarettes, you probably smoke about a half pack to a pack a day. If you smoked a half pack to a pack of joints, then smoking pot or smoking tobacco would not make a difference as far as giving you wrinkles. However, most people don-t smoke as many joints in a day as they do cigarettes, so I would have to answer -yes-, smoking a joint is no different than smoking a cigarette, however, if you just smoke pot and not cigarettes, you-re going to get the -smoking lines- much later than if you smoked cigarettes..

- [...] plus your intelligence and learning capabilities, problem solving capabilities, athletic abilities, talents, memory, lower drastically (this can also happen with smoking regular cigarettes but the affects are lessened). Basically it kills your body and mind, even thought it may not do that literally at first [...] -

After reading the preceeding comment, I just wanted to say that I smoked pot EVERY day throughout high school, and even at lunch time every day, and I never had to study for a test, I always got 80%+ average, and never less than 90% in any of the advanced math courses I took.. I don-t think it-s the act of smoking pot that makes people -dumb-.. I just think that lazy, stupid people give pot a bad name, because they act that way anyways, regardless of whether or not they smoke weed.. You cannot say that everyone that smokes pot has -drastically- lower {intelligence and learning capabilities, problem solving capabilities, athletic abilities, talents, memory} because that just isn-t true.. Please try to use a little common sense, and a little less stereotyping when answering people-s questions, or -labeling- people, Kira.. Some of the world-s best minds are marijuana users.Yuk! grose! can-t stand cigarettes *shivers* smoking lines are nasty wrinkles that appear around the mouths of smokers. Someone who smokes a lot will begin to develop wrinkly and yellowed/ Grey leathery skin. Pot would also definitely make smoking lines, plus your intelligence and learning capabilities, problem solving capabilities, athletic abilities, talents, memory, lower drastically (this can also happen with smoking regular cigarettes but the affects are lessened). Basically it kills your body and mind, even thought it may not do that literally at first. You should really appreciate your body a little more, take care of yourself, you only get one you.Smoking lines are wrinkles/lines around the lips/mouth caused from smokers constantly having their lips puckered around the cigarette.nasty wrinkles caused by smoking. smoking makes you look older and like an old baseball mittlines/wrinkles around your mouth

How do u stop smoking marijana when youre addicted ? -

How do u stop smoking marijana when youre addicted ? -

??If you really want to quit then go- COLD TURKEY- is the answer, you just quit and leave it alone, if you have symptoms of withdrawal , then suck it up, be strong, determined, and most of all Successful. Good LuckIt-s not a physical addiction, it-s psychological.

Suck it up (no pun intended) and stop smoking.Just stop and get a real hobby.It-s not an addiction, it-s just that you LIKE IT... If you want to stop, you just stop. Period.

The best thing you could ever do would be to quit smoking it. There comes a time when you just have to step up and be an adult. You won-t regret quitting.

Good Luck!!!Look at it like quitting smoking cigarettes. First thing to do is just stop smoking. I know this sounds silly, but stop buying it and keeping it around the house. That-s the first step. Learning to live without it is the hard part. Find fun things to do to replace it, and be aware that you might have some mood swings. They will pass, though, so hang in there.

Secondly, tell the people that you smoke with and that you care about (family, friends) that you-ve decided to quit. If they try to give you sh*t about it, tell them to back off. If you think that you have a problem, then you have one, and quitting is the best idea. Don-t let anybody else tell you otherwise.

If you need outside help, please don-t be embarassed to find it. Psychologists can help, and they won-t call the police on you so don-t use that as an excuse.

you are on the downhill course ... will power , will power and ONLY WILL POWER can help!!First admit you have a problem and need help. Then get into a rehab clinic.Smoke untill you pass out. Then when you are passed out you will not have the desire to smoke any more. As long as you stay stoned, you won-t want any more and you will not be addicted.hmm idunno, thats bad, maybe talk 2 a counselor, or go 2 a rehab center.....get rid of all the mary jane that u own or in ur house, if ur around ppl smokin it just leave, ive never taken drugs or smoked so idk wut its like reallywell you should get rid of all the marijuana that you own and next time you feel like smoking it do something else...go for a walk just do anything to distract yourself. It may not be easy to get over an addiction but if you tell your friends maybe they can help you out. I hope this helps. There is an excellent website that gives answers for a lot of addictions,

-- -- -- I Hope -- -- --It-s a hard thing to do because you not only fighting a chemical habit (nicotine) your fighting a physical habit, (the puffing). I can only tell you how I quit and hope it helps.
I-d smoked for 40 years and was smoking at least two packs a day. My wife smoked at least a pack a day. We had both tried to quit before but never at the same time. She was talking about quiting smoking and we both started cutting down. I went from 40 to 35 a day for a week then to 30, then 25, 20, 15, 10, 10, 10 (that wasn-t a mistake I hung there three weeks. Then 5, 5, 5,. Those last three weeks I started chewing nicotine gum . Then I dropped the last five and kept chewing the gum for 6 months. then I slowly dropped that.
That was 2 1/2 years ago and I still get a craving now and then but it-s easier to deal with now.
I wish you luck, Ciggs are $5.00 a pack in Mn where I live so we save about $150. a week!set a realistic date to quit and then go to docs they can help u thats wot im doin ive been smokin since i was 14 so now ive decided to quit after two kids, my health and my finances are affected drastically by the smokin and since 11p is about to go on ciggies my fags then go up to over 5 quid.niquitine patches

:Dwithout being patronising, try firstly, not buying them-we used to call it-willpower,get family and friends to help, then the patches,Please see the web pages for more details on Smoking cessation. Consult your doctor or smoking cessation clinic.Hey there :)

Empty your ashtray into a clean jam jar, add water, put the lid on and give it a good shake up :)
When you get the urge to have a cigarette, take off the lid and smell the contents :)
This is what your breath smells like when you smoke :) - YUK!
Also, keep a pack of Tictacs handy, a nice taste in your mouth will take your mind off things :)
The other main ingredient is will power, you need bucket loads of that :)

Good luck and Blessings, take care you, Lulu xIf you want to stop smoking. Before you smoking, you put little salt on filter tip. To do likes it when you smoke, i think you can stop it. Wish you success!!go through the NHS - they have lots of support strategies for you to use including patches and groups

Also your employer is bound by law to give you support to stop smoking and you can ask for time to attend no smoking clinics. I manage a team where 9 our of 23 girls smoke and becasue we have started an NHS support group on the premises 4 have now given up totally and 3 have limited dramatically the amount they smoke.nicitine gum worked best for meI saw a Hypnotherapist.
I have also tried all the other but they didn-t work and I was back to my 60 a day in no time.

This year on 1st May will be a Year since I stoped.
One thing sticks in my mind what he said.

Quote - You can have a cigarette, But You cant Smoke it.
You cant buy any, have any given to you or borrow any-

Every time I really wanted a cigarette this would come in my mind. then the need to smoke would go away.
I had this fear of smoking a cigarette, also how on earth do I get one...lol

Good Luck - hope you do stop Smoking
All the best

Pros and cons for Chantix stop smoking drug? Did it work for you? -

Pros and cons for Chantix stop smoking drug? Did it work for you? -

it works fine, i-ve noticed that a fairly strong willpower and ambition to quit is a requirement though. i-ve dealt with suicidal thoughts and loneliness before, but chantix never pushed those feelings back into my life.. if i began to feel like that i would blame myself, not the pills.

it is important to eat before taking the pills, or you WILL get nauseated! You-ll get dreams but the -discontentness- you feel is definitely negligible.. If any of that makes you overly cautious, then do the math...3 months of meds is a lot less pain then what you-ll go though if you keep smoking.

not to mention it stinks, thats the main reason i quit..I could not take it, I became severely depressed and suicidal taking chantix. But, I didn-t crave cigarettes either. I think each person has to simply try it for themselves, no two are going to react to it exactly the same way.I-ve been taking it for about two weeks and i-m going through hell. i only take a few drags off a cig a day now,and was smoking almost two packs a day. it works but, the side effects suck. i feel depressed and agitated most of the time, and sometimes i scare myself with some of my thoughts.I don-t smoke, but I knew a guy who stopped with Chantix. He said it stopped his cravings. It still won-t be easy to quit though. He said it is like not being starving, but being at McDonalds watching people eat.

Laser therapy stop smoking? -

Laser therapy stop smoking? -

Its not just the nicotine. Its also the other 50+ chemicals they out in cigarettes. Also the main problem is habit.
We have been used to having body sensations which we translate as -my body needs something, which we have attempted to satisfy by having a cigarette.
When we try to stop smoking, we still get these -my body needs something- sensations, and we still feel that we want a cigarette. We have to train our body to be more selective. When we feel we need something, we have to work out what it is that we actually need.
A glass of water is an excellent substitute if nothing else comes to mind, as it helps with the clearance of the toxic substances in our body. Another good substitute is a bag of salted peanuts, used in combination with the water.
Another thing to do is to find an activity which occupies the mind or body. Go swimming - nobody wants to smoke while they are swimming. Slowly, as our body adjusts and translates the -want something- feelings into something other than cigarettes, then the feelings begin to go away. We know its not a cigarette that the body really needs, because as soon as we-ve had one we still have the feeling, and want another! What kind of question is this?

I found this site...

http://laser.smoke-cough-die.com

... that might be helpful. But how a laser could have an impact on a craving like smoking beats the daylights out of me.

I have stopped smoking, is it too late at 22? -

I have stopped smoking, is it too late at 22? -

i am 22 and have smoked about 10-15 cigarettes a day since i was 13, i have stopped smoking, i want to know if i have allready done irreversable damage to my body or if i can fully recover and how long does this take? Also is it true that your skin gets better and the whites or your eyes whiter after stopping smoking or is this just a myth? thanksNo its not too late at all. I have read some scientific papers which show that the damage of smoking can revert to normal within 10 years of not smoking. I did my whole thesis on this, so I know for sure.

Smoking narrows your blood vessels, so most definately you will feel much healthier. Lots of oxygen will reach your skin and eyes and you will look much more brighter.

Well done for giving up. Your a star

xWithout a doubt the have done SOME irreversible damage to your body by smoking for so long...

But, stopping is an incredible thing to do and you body will start recovering as soon as you put down your last cigarette, although I could take up to 2 years for you body to recover and up to 20 years to recover completely and leave you with no problems, as you would be if you hadn-t smoked.

Yes, whose statements are true because smoking ruins your skin and makes the white in your eyes appear with yellow tint, so once you stop then they will start to recover. There are a lot of -know nothings- that always have negative things to say. Yes, you will fully recover from the effects of smoking for such a short time. And, no it is not too late - not by a long shot. Congratulations on quitting, everything for you, from the color of your skin to the odor surrounding you, gets better every day now. Once again, congratulations for making the smart move.I quit smoking when I found out I had brain cancer. My medical oncoloIogists nurse told me that after a month of not smoking your improve your lungs greatly and after a full 8 years of not smoking your lungs are near fully repaired. At the 8 year point the rest of your body is near repaired also.Funnily enough effects wear off within 72 hours, then weeks, then months then years. The horror of the effect is disproportional to the time it takes to go i.e. you-ll feel much better in a week, and some slightly blocked arteries will take longer to clear but will be unnoticeable.Sorry to break this to you but, and this may come of a shock to you at your age, you-re going to die anyway.

I-m off to cross the road now and have a pint...*thump*.....*ne-naw ne-naw ne-naw*The risks of heart disease decrease by a lot almost immediately after stop smoking but you could have already done damage- sorry =)
Well done for quitting though !!There will be some scar tissue. It is always better to stop because some can smoke 50 years and be ok (besides emphysema) and I-ve seen some smoke 5 years and get cancer. That-s rolling the dice.My parents gave up about 8 years ago. My Dad-s 60 this year. He feels much better for giving up. In other words... it-s never too late.

Oh and good luck :DIt is never too late. Congratulations !!!!!!!!!!i have stopped for four months and people keep telling me my skin does not look so grey and the little lines around my mouth are going22 is still very young ... you lungs are recovering already :)it-s better to stop at 22 than never.
