Is it hard to stop smoking?Who say yes and whos say no?Why? -

yes and no... i quit once because i was sick.. quit for over 3 months... then i had to drive home while everyone was passed out and of course the smokes started talking to me and i gave in... i have not been able to quit since....The hard part is wanting to quit. You smoke because you like them. You quit because it is better for your long term health and improves your breath. It is easy to quit and I have done it dozens of times. I never smoke anything like a pack a day though so maybe I wasn-t that addicted.I don-t understand this addiction claim when it comes to cigarettes. The last time I smoked was in 1998. I had one cigarette. Pew! Ew!

Who wants ashtray breath, compromised sex drive, wrinkled skin and lung cancer. Why would someone smoke something that tastes nasty for all the risks associated with smoking.

Also there is nothing glamourous about smoking. It stinks, it looks nasty when people do it, it ruins your teeth, breath, etc, etc,

Addictions aren-t addictions, they-re lame excuses for weak people. I stopped drinking coffee cold turkey cause I didn-t like how it effected my body.

No it-s not difficult to stop smoking. Try something else...like sex or masturbation

I heard of something that is supposed to be taken (like a prescription or something) that slowly replaces the need for nicotine in the body. So the person CAN STILL smoke while taking it. They just start losing the urge to smoke - don-t even notice that they don-t smoke as much. The craving just starts going away. I know someone who needs to quit or at least slack down on smoking (for health - financial reasons). The patch won-t work, as it will make you sick if you smoke while having it on. This person is elderly - has smoked for about 60 years, so smoking is a habit that-s not going to be that easily broken. It-s become their only hobby. Her doctor was asked about smthng 2 help her stop smoking - he said none of that stuff really works. End of story. She won-t switch dr-s, he-s been her dr for a LONG time. So plz tell me if you know of something like this, that CAN help someone stop smoking w/out making them sick if they smoke while on it. Thank youI quit by using Chantix and I-ve smoked for 20 years before quiting. It did help, however, I have digestive disorders - GERD and Ulcerative Colitis - and had to stop using it because after a month or so it did mess up my stomach.

I noticed someone here posted something about seeing a lung cancer patient...their right. My grandpa just passed away on Christmas day because of advanced lung cancer. It is an extremely painful way to die.Personally i just put them down and put sugar free gum in my pocket. So when i reached for a cigarette i had something there to help break the habit. So i cant say what work,s or not. I do know that there is a lot of way,s to stop now days and most are cover,d by health insurance. You can talk to a doctor and he can guide you . And it will only cost you a copay. You can also call your insurance co. they will help you find a program that is right for you.Yes. It-s called will power, derrived from being scared sh_less.
How to achieve: take person to the Oncology wing of any big hospital in your neighborhood. They will let you enter, during daytime. Spend couple hours there observing what chemotherapy drugs do to the body, when used to treat lung cancer. Observe how chemo is dripping into someone...it-s so humbling that hopefully this person will get the friggin message: -unless you wanna end up with one of those IVs, wondering if the next chemo drop will kill you, you-d better stop smokin.-I think the drug you are referring to is Wellbutrin.
But, i have taken it and there was no difference in the amount of cigs or the urges.
I have also tried hypnosis. I will back up hypnosis... The only reason i did not quit was- I really did not want to quit. I did not have the urge but the doc stated that if i did smoke, it would be the worst taste ever.... Being young and curious... I had to see how horrible! It was foul.. And i ultimately went back to smoking.
Acupuncture is another alternative. It was very relaxing and it did curve the cravings. Again, I really was not ready to quit.
Now, The first is coming and i am quiting... Again. I am starting off with the patches- I plan to quit, not keep smoking. And i am also doing acupuncture.
I wish you and the lady the best of luck and a happy new year!
