All people in my family who have passed b/c of cancer were smokers who smoked for 15+ years and stopped. After about 5- 10 years cancer showed. The rest of the members in my family who continue to smoke and have been smoking show no signs of cancer and say they-re not going to quit because of it. My aunt even spoke to her doctor about it and says there may be something in the tobacco that may keep it dormant or not allow it to grow. I think it may be the tar because they say that cancer needs oxygen to grow. What do you think? Stop smoking or not?i have smoked 23 years and i can t believe its been so long, and im only 38. I quit last summer for 4 months and never felt SO good in years. I started back from an ex-wife issue and was the stupidest thing i ever did. I have quit again just this morning. I have not smoked a cigarette ALL day. Its a start, but a promise to my child and myself that i live a more healthier life style. I tell my self two things. -There is nothing GOOD about smoking- and -I-m a puff away from a pack a day- I really cant see me smoking the rest of my life. I stopped running, swimming and daily excersise when i started smoking. It effect two major receptors in the brain and is directly linked to cocane and heroin receptors in the brain. Going To Dentist Soon
Stopped Smoking 2 days ago
ive got a yellow throat how do you get
rid of it before i go to dentist
next month
Please Helpp!Obviously your worried about your dentist saying something, which leads me to believe that you are underage. Smoking is disgusting and unattractive. Believe me, there are plenty of better ways to die then from cancer. I-ve watched multiple family members suffer through the end of their short lived lives. Stop smoking!i really have no idea. it is definitely best to stop smoking, but about the yellow throat i have no idea. i would suggest gargling mouthwash and salt water to get rid of bacteria that could make your throat yellow, but i am not positive and i don-t know for sure. you-re not going to quit smoking until YOU want to quit, and that is a choice you have to make. however it is a lot healthier (and less costly) if you stop. How To Get Rid Of Visible Side Effects of smoking Pleasee Helpp!? -
Stopping smoking... advice and tips please!? -
Stopping smoking... advice and tips please!? -
Hello... today is my first day as a non-smoker! I have written down a list to keep with me of all the reasons I want to quit smoking. I know that if I had a smoke I wouldn-t enjoy it anyway. I have tried several times and failed but I really want to do it this time.
Does anyone have any tips - I-m not keen on nicoteen replacement therapy...
When does it start getting easier and when do you no longer think about smoking anymore... or does that never stop?
Thank you!Go to your GP and ask for some Champix. They completely block the craving and make cigs smell and taste disgusting, even to the most confirmed smoker like I was.Look there-s a part in our brain that produces chemical substances that our body needs when we start smoking our body is stopping this process. Because cigarettes are the replacement of that production. So when you stop smoking after a long time this space in your brain remains empty and that-s why you-re asking so desperately for a cigarette. Now to quit smoking needs calmness, avoiding places with many smokers and most of all your strongest will to quit it and it would be good if someone helped you with that friend family whoever you like. But you need to patience and say to yourself again and again stop! You don-t need it. It-s just a poison. And it-s so much better for those around me because most of them are so annoyed by the smoke even if they smoke too. So try your best and don-t give up. Good luck.WELL DONE- smoking is a treble habit. here are some tips-
-try having gum instead of a fag
- be positive and prepare yourself
- nicotine patches are a big help
-think how much better your life is going to be (no more bad musty breath, or even how much you can save!!!!)
- Various medicines can increase your chance of quitting. These include Nicotine Replacement Therapy which comes as gums, sprays, patches, tablets, lozenges, and inhalers.
hope this helped good luckI gave up the ciggies 38 years or so ago, simply decided to stop and insert some willpower, I also committed the money I-d saved into another project that HAD to be paid I.E. I bought a motorbike on HP, so, I therefore couldn-t afford the fags, to carry on smoking under those circumstances would have made me bankrupt, it worked and I-ve never looked back and my health is great at aged 65.
So go on give it a whirl.
Good luck in your quest for health. If you-ve got decent health insurance, ask you doctor to prescribe Zyban or Welbutrin to help quit smoking. They are anti-depresants but they take away the withdrawals and most doctors will give you the prescription for the sake of quitting smoking.
It worked for me.I used the patches which I found very helpful,it does get easier as the time goes by and you will the benefits after a few days. I haven-t had a smoke for 9 years now. Best of luck and keep with it.Try Patches / Chewing gum.Congratulations! You and everyone who loves you (or has to smell you) will thank you for this.
I quit last year. No tricks, pills, drugs, anything, just decided that I didn-t want to be a smoker, so I stopped buying and smoking cigarettes. First key to quitting: Honestly want to.
Next, you-ll have to relive every experience you are used to accompanying with a cigarette before your mind can wrap around the idea that you don-t do that anymore. For instance: I used to smoke in the car on the way to work, while I was checking e mail at home, whenever the neighbors would be outside we-d have a cigarette together, after breakfast, after sex, etc. etc. I had to go through each of those things *without* smoking, and after about 2 weeks I stopped thinking -Cigarette time! Oh wait... no ... -. After that 2 weeks, smoking didn-t occur to me very often, and today smoking is a distant, distant memory for me.
Good luck, and be strong. Try low calorie beverages for oral fixation stuff (not eating, that-s fattening), or toothpicks, cherry stems, gum, straws, pens, etc. You-ll get through it fine and everyone will be glad of it.Stopping smoking... advice and tips please!? -

How do I stop smoking crack/cocaine? -
Someone give me a good answer.Step up to the plate and say NO! Then ask for help. If you still have a job, give someone else in your life control of your money to keep you from spending it on dope. If you have a significant other, let them pay the bills and buy the basics. You should never have enough money to score drugs during the first few months.
Do not just sit around the house and mope. That promotes the depression that may come with withdrawal, and it might even give you too much time to think about drugs which is where you really get in trouble. Try to get back to a hobby or interest you enjoy. If those interests lead you to people that are in the crowd that you did drugs with, then find a new group. You have to make the changes in your life to keep you away from these drugs.
You will have desires for the drug for a long time, and it will come to mind whenever you are bored or stressed. These will be less and less as the time goes by, but they will always be there in the back of your mind waiting for you to slip. Be strong, you-re life will be better for it if you can keep this devil at bay.How do I stop smoking crack/cocaine? -

Homeopathic Remedy to Quit Smoking :-
CALADIUM.S 1M(1000) Just one dose every 10th day three doses in total.
Take Care and God Bless !The patch, gum, cold turkey, hypnosis, support groups, prayer.what you need to stop is the habit - the nicotine withdrawal aspect is severely over rated and i honestly believe that the drug company-s are brainwashing us so they can sell product.. It-s not that bad. How do i know this ? 12/19/96 i had my last cigarette. Prior to that i had been a 2 pack a day/20 + years non -filter Camel smoker. If anybody was addicted to nicotine it was me. I honestly expected to go through this really nasty - curl yourself int a fetal position and throw up often position- and it never happened. Granted I didn-t feel great But I-ve had bouts with the Flu that made me feel a lot worse.
The problem is the habit. all of those things you do with a cigarette
having a couple drinks ..light one up................. can-t do that anymore
just wake up ......................light one up -- -- -- -- -
Just got laid........................light one up no can do on the cigarette part
got along drive all by your lonesome ...... light one up
and the one i still miss, coffee and cigarettes Man if there were ever two things that went together
But you do it and you gain weight because smoking is an oral fixation
But you do it.. The first month IS hard but every month after that gets a little easier. The price for not doing it is well known.
Good LuckI stopped using the patch and like 150 pounds of mary janes candiesJesus is the answer.Me too think I-m gonna have to do the deserted island bit good luck cut a peice of straw and use it instead they say thats half the addiction.Tell everyone you-re a smoker. Then they won-t be policing you, and then quit cold turkey. If it doesn-t work the first time, just keep trying. Every time you quit your non-smoking time should get longer until one day you realise you just don-t need it anymore. Oranges help to take the craving away, also tomatoes, peppermints and chewing gum. But the strongest ally you can have in quitting smoking is your own will. Think of the benefits of not smoking - a longer life, not having to take off to the shops at all hours to buy smokes, i.e. freedom, money in the pocket, healthy children, untainted wallpaper, fresh smelling house and clothes. All the best, just do it!try changing it with chewing gum..Need help!!! how to stop smoking? -

My Boyfs quiting smoking and has cut back dramatically how can he get remove Nicotine Stains off his fingers -
Please all you against smoking people don-t say stop smoking as I have already as a not smoker got him to cut back and he has 2 friends who are going to quit with him and they go to a help group in town so thats a step in the right direction.
However his fingers are yellow and Nicotine/tar badly stained and it is gross and I am sick of nagging and saying it looks scankie as this is not really helpful so I am calling on Smokers to give some advice and methods to help out. PleaseYou can use a bit of bleach but it is hard on the skin. He can try to hold his smoking hand so that the smoke isn-t flowing over his fingers. The stains should wear off his skin as he smokes less..He can use Lemon Juice to remove the stains or while doing dishes pour a capfull of bleach with the dishes as he washes them...less hard on the skin that way instead of straight bleach.i used to get this when i smoked.it depends on how you hold ya cig.if the smoke is running over ya fingers it will stain easier.
as for actually removing the stains i dont think you really can without resorting to bleach and a scrubbing brush....ouch.
however if you leave it a couple of weeks it will eventually wear off.
good lukwash his hands in wahing powder -hot water/or let him wash his smalls in the sink with washing powderwell done to both of you, giving up anything deserves a huge pat on the back. Don-t listen to all the negative stuff and just take one day at a time.
as for the stains lemon juice is a brilliant natural bleach, it may hurt if you have cuts, but other than that won-t harm in any way.
keep up the gr8 work, your doing brilliantly =)rain waterWater and a piece of pumice stone Will clean fingers.NO to bleach and scouring etc. The skin renews itself from beneath constantly, and the outer layers wear away and gone. Is only time to solve this, and quicker than you think.lemon juice.....soak and scrub
they will fade with time naturally thourubbing them with lemons or limes seem to work
eventulally it will disapear once he stopps completely and the skin is fully regenerated.they will disappear in time, it took years to put them there but only months for them not to be noticeable.Try soaking them in a solution of white king - lemon juice, then scrub with a scrubbing brush. Also a coarse exfoliating wash might help remove the dead skin cells or a pumice stone.I smoked for 20 years and did not like the yellow stains either. One way that reduces staining is the way you hold the cigarette. Hold it upright so that the smoke rises into the air, but not onto your fingers leaving stains. I used to notice stains alot after I-d been partying b/c of course you smoke more when you drink, and you get sloppy about how you are holding the cigarette.
Other than that, I-d say get a really porous pumice stone (I got a really good one at Pier Imports which worked great and lasted for years). Also, you can put nail polish remover on a cotton ball and rub your fingers with that. It is corrosive, but I-d trust it over bleach anyday. And definitely not lye (old-fashioned Liquid Drano) that would burn your skin right off - not a good plan.
I was super addicted but quit by going to a smoking cessation retreat. I always said that I-d have to go to a place where I had absolutely no access to cigs, to be locked up, before I could kick the habit. It;s been 5 years for me now. If I can do it, anyone can.I expect he is a big boy so soak them in bleach diluted 50/50 with water and then scrub with washing up liquid neat. Yes it may slightly damge his skin. Think what goes down into his lungs though...As long as he is still smoking, the stains will always be there, however, ask him to help you clean your house/apt just once. Let him get his hands into the sudsy water for a few hours. When I had this problem, I just figured it would eventually wear off, which it will, but I cleaned my apt. and used two things. A pine cleaner and Murphy-s Oil. When I was done cleaning, my hands looked sparkly! Hope this helps some.soap and waterI use a new scouring pad - dry, bit brutal i know but works a treat. i am a heavy smoker myself and this method provides instant results. My Boyfs quiting smoking and has cut back dramatically how can he get remove Nicotine Stains off his fingers -
