How do i get my mom to stop smoking ? -

How do i get my mom to stop smoking ? -

Listen carefully...
YOU CAN-T get her to stop smoking. Only SHE CAN decide to stop.
My mom is still smoking even after having -quit- several times. So it is up to her.You can-t make somebody stop smoking. It is an addiction, quitting will be hard so unless your mom wants to quit it wont happen. I suggest you talk to her, express your concern for her health, maybe if she knows how you feel she will consider what you are suggesting. When that happens then you can look into techniques, I hear there has been some success using hypnosis and positive imagery. You can-t stop her.You can write her a letter about your feelings on the subject and for good measure add how you would feel if she became ill because of it. This worked for my cousin. She did quit.I .wish you the best.It has to be her decision. You can-t force anyone to do something they don-t want to do.I think there is only one way. Make her aware of the horrible consequences

How long until i stop craving a cigarette? -

How long until i stop craving a cigarette? -

I just stopped smoking and I was woundering when Ill stop having any desire and cravings to smoke and will forget about smoking and become like a non smoker who never thinks about smoking or wants to ever??3 days for the physical addiction, all that shaky and irritable feeling. It takes 30 days for anyone to break a psychological habit. After 30 days you should be feeling fine and the memory of cigarettes will fade. If you don-t drink, you stand a really good chance of staying off. I found when I quit that when I did try to smoke one after that thirty day period they truly tasted nasty and I couldn-t do it.ok 1. I want to congradulate you on your decision to stop smoking. It-s a bad habbit, and it kills your body with every puff you take. 2. If you really need help to stop, pray for it. God loves you and he is interested in your life.Never. You-ll get over the worst part in 2-3 weeks (like the previous answer) but years later you will still encounter triggers that you-ll have to fight off. I-m at the 17 month mark and still have the urge on occasion.You-ve gotta get over the -3 day hump-. After the first three days, it-ll get easier, but you will still have to keep focused. Then, after a couple of weeks you will be a non smoker :)About 3 weeks. Good Luck!!

Mine Please? Please!!?? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091230121003AAWQ5VR2 weeks minimum (good luck)2-3 weeks. if it gets really bad pop a nicotine gum.

its not hard ive done it

Question about my favourite subject - stopping smoking!? -

Question about my favourite subject - stopping smoking!? -

I-ve been using the nicotine patches and I find them brilliant - so much better than they were a few years ago. I-ve been wearing the patches overnight because my hardest cigarette to overcome is the first one of the day. As I was warned, my sleep has been very disturbed with lots of vivid (although not unpleasant dreams) and waking up regularly. I-ve now stopped wearing them because I find I-ve been feeling really really tired. Is this because my sleep has been too light and I-ve simply been deprived of a decent nights sleep?
Hope I make sense.Nicotine stimulates the brain, so you would have vivid dreams and restless sleep because of those dreams. As a result you would naturally be tired. Your normal sleep patterns will soon be back.I had this problem put the patch on in the morning and you will have no problems with nightmares i know what im talking about because i used to have terrible nightmares with the patches until i started putting them on in the morning Like you the morning cigarette was the hardest The patch will still stop you wanting the morning cigarette good luckWell done on giving up. I-m going to try AGAIN when i come back from holiday. The first time i stopped i used NRP but found they did-nt help me, ever since i-ve used willpower ( not to great success it would appear). I found my sleep to be quite disturbed after stopping, i-m no scientist, but i would say it-s your body looking for something it hasn-t benn getting something it-s been used to. It does get easier with time, try sticking to a routine of going to bed, and getting up. I also find vitiman C helps. Keep up the good work.Hi there congrats on giving up its been 24 days for me i have heard about the dreams but only with the 24 hour patches i have been using nicotine gum and i find them very good so you could give them a try good luckjust stop smoking..no patches...no gum..
i stopped about 6 years ago and my lungs are suffering now with the after effects of smoking..
if you need a crutch just chew normal gum
believe me ..smoking...its not worth itSide effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue using nicotine patches.

* More common side effects may include:
Dizziness, high blood pressure, itching and burning at the application site, nausea, redness of the skin
Do not smoke, chew, or sniff any form of tobacco while wearing a patch; doing so could give you an overdose of nicotine. Be aware that for several hours after you remove a patch, nicotine from the patch is still in your skin and passing into your bloodstream, so you should not smoke even when the patch is off.

The use of nicotine patches may aggravate certain medical conditions. Before you use any brand of nicotine patch, make sure your doctor knows if you have, or have ever had, any of the following conditions:

Allergies to drugs, adhesive tape, or bandages
Chest pain from a heart condition (angina)
Diabetes requiring insulin injections
Heart attack or heart disease
High blood pressure (severe)
Irregular heartbeat (heart arrhythmia)
Kidney disease
Liver disease
Overactive thyroid
Skin disease
Stomach ulcer

Nicotine, from any source, can be toxic and addictive. Do not use nicotine patches any longer than your doctor prescribes or the product instructions recommend. Thoroughly discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of nicotine replacement therapy.

If your heartbeat becomes irregular or you have heart palpitations, stop using the patch and call your doctor. Do the same if redness caused by the patch doesn-t go away in 4 days or if your skin swells or develops a rash.

Nicotine patches sometimes can cause vivid dreams or other sleep disturbances. If this happens, take the patch off at bedtime.

Do not use a patch if its pouch is unsealed.

The safety and effectiveness of nicotine patches have not been tested in children. Over-the-counter Nicotrol is not for use by children under age 18.

Because a used nicotine patch still contains enough nicotine to poison a child or a pet, you must dispose of used patches with special care. Wrap each patch in the opened pouch or aluminum foil in which it came and throw it in a trash receptacle that is out of the reach of youngsters and animalsHi there...

When you sleep there are different types of sleeping... for you to feel refreshed in the morning the need to enter the park of sleep called REM... which can take a couple of hours to reach...

if you keep waking up after you dreams then i would think you are not getting into this stage of sleep leaving you tired.

I gave up using patches... I would say dont ware them at night but stick one on in the morning.. they dont take to long to kick in...
Question about my favourite subject - stopping smoking!? -

Getting boyfriend to stop smoking? -

Getting boyfriend to stop smoking? -

My recent boyfriend smokes, which make me really disappointed. I really like him, just not this habit. I-m really not too sure how he would respond if I directly approached him about it and I would hate to make it awkward between us. It bothers me and I would like to get him to stop. Help please! It depends how much you like him and how close you two are. If you don-t say anything, he-ll think your fine with it. You should speak up, especially if he smokes around you, you could get second-hand smoke, which is just as bad. If he really likes you, he should be willing to listen to you and give up smoking.

Also, if you try to tell him to stop, you could tell him it-s because you care about him and his health. It-s in his best interest to stop smoking. Tell him it-s making you uncomfortable, and if he cares about you, he should stop.

It shouldn-t be awkward if he takes your advice to heart. You shouldn-t worry, because either he takes your advice and quits --or sincerely tries to, or he ignores you, in which case he-s not a very good boyfriend.tell him that you really like him but you c ouldnt be serious with him knowing that he smokes. you know that it is his body, but second hand smoke will hurt whoever he is around while smoking and that loving someone that is killing themselves would never fly with you knowing that his habit will take years away that yall could spend togetherYou could at least go next to him would out letting him know and not knowing him there. Pretend saying that one of ur family or friend die of smoking alot maybe that will stop him.Show your concern but, he-ll stop when he wants to stop. Smokers are very stubborn people and it-s best to just let your opinion be known and leave it at that. If you try to force him that will only cause resentment in your relationship.

To show your support you could buy him some Tar Bars, there-s no such thing as a -safe- cigarette but the Tar Bars will collect the nicotine and tar found in a cigarette. I-ve known people who decided to quit after seeing all the junk the bar collected. Who knows, it may work for him. You can get them at gas stations and drug stores.I-ve had this same problem with a lot of the guys I dated.
I was very upfront about it with them and told them I hated it and I even went to desperate measures to hide their ciggarettes from them I don-t encourage that because they get really angry lol.. just talk to him about it I doubt he would give it up.. from my experiences they never do.
