How do u stop smoking? -

How do u stop smoking? -

There r many ways.
1. u could just stop cold turkey
2.use the patch or nicorettes or another type gum u like(my mom used Trident)
3.u could wean yourself off n if you want those instructions u can IM me or e mail n i will tell u.
4.find another habit to replace the smoking but make it a good habit u will need to keep your mind busy and your hands.
5.eg:u could go work out, do daily walks.Learn a craft u would enjoy n take a course like flower arranging or knitting crocheting etc.First of all you have to make the decision that smoking cessation is in your best interests then stick to it.

Much of the habit associated with smoking concerns the activity of smoking. How you hold the smoking materials, flip ashes, talk and so forth. My particular demon involved that morning cigarette with a cup of coffee -- my how I loved it.

Then you substitute something else for the activity.

Next you deal with the aspect of physical addiction to nicotine. You can take a substitute which does not compromise your lungs such as the patch or a capsule of nicotinic acid.

When the urges begin -- typically that first day -- you review the reasons why you-re quitting.

Tell yourself how you need to retain as much of that squamous epithelial lining of the lungs as you can and how smoking affects the heart as well. Look up the topics of -cor pulmonale- and -empyema thoracis- and carcinoma of the lung and decide for yourself that this is not the way you wish to end your existence on this Earth.

Think about the impact on your family members and the consequences of -second hand smoke-.

Finally, go for a walk. Indulge yourself with something else that doesn-t involve breathing smoke into your lungs.

If you decide for yourself that smoking is not a good thing for your physical well being and make up your mind to quit -- all else that is required is determination.

When I made the decision I quit cold turkey. The patch helped me somewhat but by and large I lost the crutch after a week and just decided that smoking -wasn-t me.-

Good luck !Eat sunflowerseeds as often as u desire to smoke. You can also eat lime along with its peel. Also get the help of de adiction centres. Good luck. Leave smoking and lead healthy peaceful lifei was a chain smoker , one fine day i woke up and said no smoking from today, and i quit just like that, people say cold turkey , blah blah blah, if u are man enough and have a Mustache to prove that - Just say no- and mean what you say !u can stop smoking if u have will powerIT IS YOUR HABIT
All are not smoking. Only certain people smoke. Like any other habits, with strong determination, you can stop smokingDad useed to smoke and he says the secret to stop smoking is that you have to want to quit. If you want to quitm you cab do it, dad did it cold turkey after proberly 40 years of smoking. How bad do you want to quuit? If bad enough, you can do it. He didn-t use gum or patches either.
Good lucku have actually taken ur forst step to stop smoking, i.e., u have understood the fact and realised tht u have stopped doin so... next u should know to resist urself, i.e, whenever u feel like smoking just tell again and again to urself the reasons as to why u should not smoke! if tht doesnt help then u can make a chart as to how many cigars u used everyday and try to reduce the no of them!
U could also meditate! it might heelp u to keep a clean mindBy not buying cigarettes and by not smoking!Did you try the gum or the patch? You can try one one like this

my mom has cancer but refuses to stop smoking is there any suggestions you can give that can help me get her to stop smokingAsk her if she knows how much money she-s putting into the pockets of the big tobacco companies, and how much they WANT her to keep on smoking--only because they are making profits!

Here-s the scoop on smoking and being addicted to tobacco.

The funny thing about quitting is this: Most smokers won-t quit because they-re afraid they-ll go through a horrible withdrawal. The truth is, that you go through withdrawal from nicotine about 15 minutes AFTER EVERY CIGARETTE. When you sleep at night, you are in heavy withdrawal--and it doesn-t even wake most people up! That-s how MILD withdrawal from nicotine really is. You-re done with the physical withdrawal within 5 days of stopping. You-re NEVER done with the mental addiction. It only takes about 5 days to clean out your entire system of nicotine. It-s NOT a physical addiction after that--it-s a mental one.

Most smokers can get through about 5 days before they go crazy. They miss the feel--the way a cigarette smells--the HABIT they-ve cultivated of having one at certain times of the day. They want that little -security blanket- they used to have. In order to make quitting stick, you have to change your habits, and air out your clothes and house--get rid of all the associations you have with smoking--no matter how minor! Most people do not do this when they quit, and within a few days they-re being reminded of times, situations, even ideas that are associated with smoking. They don-t consider themselves Ex-Smokers, they consider themselves Smokers who have been forced to quit--there-s no positive spin on it for them. It-s PUNISHMENT. It-s NECESSARY EVIL. This is the wrong way to think about it, if you want to quit. You have to constantly remind yourself how good it is NOT TO BE A SLAVE to cigarettes! You have to get rid of all the ashtrays, change your habits and your routines--or you won-t quit successfully; you-ll always feel you were coerced into it.

Keep in mind that there is absolutely NOT ONE SINGLE GOOD THING ABOUT SMOKING. None. Nothing. Nada. ZILCH. ZIP. ZERO. You can-t recommend it for any reason, it makes you smell bad, makes you look older, gives you wrinkles and bad skin, hurts every system in your body, makes your family breathe the foul air it produces, burns holes in your clothes and furniture, poses a fire hazard in your home, and hastens your demise by at least 20 minutes every time you light up. (three cigarettes=1 hour of life GONE! 1 pack a day=half a day of life GONE! How can anyone justify this?)

Smoking makes every illness you have take longer to heal. It ruins your immune system. It makes your voice sound horrible, makes you cough up yellow and black goo, and makes you really unappealing to others.

You can reclaim all of your health and life if you stop. It-s never too late. NEVER. You can smell better. You can feel better. You can stop the destruction.

You can break the addiction very easily. Just WANT to. The physical effects of stopping are nothing major--and actually not even bad.

A really good book on the issue is called -The Easy Way to Stop Smoking- by Alan Carr. He details what and why people smoke and how to end the grip it has on you.

Good luck to you and your mom.unfortunately, until she wants to quit there isnt anything you can do...

smoking is an addiction, just like any other.... imaging trying to reason with a heroin addict....

just keep telling her how you feel about ittell her how worried you are about her and how much it hurts to see her sick and to see her do nothing to help herself..

I-m sure she already knows what could happen to her and she doesn-t seem to care very much but tell her that you care, tell her that she is not only causing harm to herself, but to the people that love her
