How do I stop smoking cigs? -

How do I stop smoking cigs? -

I-m not a chain smoker, but I find myself bored when I-m driving to and from work or when I-m worried about something, I smoke. I feel that if I stop smoking occasionaly I will eat more and gain weight. I feel a little irrirated when I don-t smoke, I-m afraid I-m getting addicted to it. Even when I do smoke I feel sick to my stomach, but I still do it. Plus I-m trying to get pregnant and I know it-s not healthy. What can I do without eating so much to avoid smoking, I tried chewing gum but it get-s boring.First off, take a look at this site:

http://www.quitnet.com

I used it when I quit and found it answered all of my questions, as well as gave me support when I needed it.

Don-t kid yourself, you are already addicted. Its simple, toss out the cigarettes and don-t buy them anymore. Smoking decreased your chance of conceiving anyway... so quitting will help.

Take a water bottle with you where ever you go and when you get a craving, sip on it. It will also help with not over eating. Weight gain is normal when you quit, and does come off. Smoking suppresses appetite so your metabolism will need time to adjust. Just eat healthy and eat smaller meals throughout the day (5 to 6) as well as drink 4 to 6 glasses of water per day.First off, you already are addicted. I know, I-ve been there myself. I smoked for 5 years, and got up to a pack a day. I recently quit 3 months ago cold turkey. Here are some tips that might help you out a bit.

1. Try to avoid other smokers. My worst cravings come from seeing other people smoke, heck I still get cravings, even if its just from a movie.

2. Find something to help motivate yourself to quit. For instance, every time you get an urge to smoke, think about trying to get pregnant. Smoking decreases your chance of fertility. Plus, if you do get pregnant, you-ll have to stop anyway.will power.

I have stopped smoking for three days now i feel rubbish today? -

I am close to starting again how long untill i start to feel like a human again. You are doing fantastic! :)

I gave up smoking last November. I remember the third day was my absolute worst, I had shakes, tears, felt cold.. just wanted to curl up in the corner.

As you get more days behind you it will get easier. Once all the nicotine is out of your system you will know that it isn-t that that you want but the -mind prop- that cigarettes become.

I really understand how tough it is, but you have managed to keep away from the cigs for three days and that-s fantastic. Don-t give in to them. I went out last night and came home and I could smell the smoke on my clothes and it is disgusting! I-m so glad I don-t have to smell like that any more. In a few weeks you-ll feel the same.. as well as all the other benefits as well. :)

Good luck. :)takes about a week i stopped for 3 months but i bloody started again try keep it up good luckThere is no fixed amount of time that the withdrawal symptoms will persist for.

My best advice would be get some nicotine lozenges/gum to stave off the worst of the symtoms. They WILL help.

In the mean time, distract yourself!Stick with it. You may feel like rubbish for up to a week, then things will start to improve. Treat yourself to a movie or a fancy dinner.my mum gave up with the gum, you can get it free from the docVarious opinions on this. Anywhere between 3 weeks and never (no really, I am not making this up).Don-t give up !!!!!!!!! The third day is supposed to be the worste. This is the hump day. Good for you !! It will be a little easier every day from now on. I-m not saying you wont crave one every now and then, especially when you see or smell it, but the cravings wont be as strong. Try some nicotine gum or patches if you start feeling like you are going to smoke again. You just made one of the most important decisions of you life. Don-t give up!Withdrawal is difficult, undoubtedly. Why not view the -pain- as a test of your wisdom and patience levels. If you return to the habit you know what risks you run.

Give it another few days, and take it a nano second at a time :))you poor thing, its great that your trying to quit-- you-ve gone 3 days,, try last the week and i think you should be fine, each person is different in how they react to withdrawl symptoms and depending on the length of the addiction can be a factor, good luck and i hope you continue on this path! dont give up!!CONGRADS!!! You are atleast trying. Hey, go out and buy some gum. Crewing will help calm your nerves. The first five days are the hardest, and you are more than half way through, so hang in there! Actually, once you get through this first week, you-ll be amazed at how quickly you-re going to feel human - not just human like you used to be, but human in a re-energized way.
There are all sorts of things you can do to help yourself stay in the -cool- zone. They range from chewing gum to working out -- and a little bit of exercise really does help. Water sports are great because it-s physically impossible to smoke while you are swimming, water skiing, surfing, etc.etc.etc.
This isn-t just platitudes. I know what you-re going through because I quit after smoking for 30 years. One of the things that helped break me of smoking in the car was buying a three-foot long cigarette holder (it-s the kind that telescopes into a six inch holder) because it was so bloody awkward in the car. Hard to light a cigarette from that distance, it buts against the windshield and just generally gets hopelessly in the way. So I just chewed on the holder instead.
That was the hardest one to break, because getting in and lighting up was such an ingrained routine.
But hang in there. You WILL feel better soon, and it just gets better from there.
good luck to youawww, im sorry but i guess thats withdrawl, ytake it easy and breath. hopefully things will get better. just be patient, all will be good soon. smile :)I gave up about 20 years ago, you have just reached the hardest part. this may sound a bit silly but it worked for me.When I felt like I needed a smoke, I poured old beer into a used ashtray and smelt it, now imagine that stuff in your mouth. I doubt that you will smoke again.:-)congratulations on stopping. the fisrt couple of weeks are the worst but hang on in there. whatever you do dont start again. making the break is the hardest thing and think of the money you will be saving. you will feel better then ever soon, just dont start again :-)I don-t smoke anymore. It has been a year and three months. The first month is the worst. Your body still has not cleaned itself of nicotine. Don-t talk addict talk to yourself. Like...-Oh, I feel bad so I will smoke.- Just hang on. It does get better.Treat yourself to something nice with the money you have saved over the last 3 days, it might only be small but it is still money saved. It would be nice if you had enough to treat yourself to a massage, that should do the trick. Good luck !!!!Get some nicotine gum or patch, your neurotransmitters aren-t receiving enough -happy- signals in your brain. hats what smoking/any drug does, increases the happy signals you get. Now your body thinks you-re not getting enough so it craves some sort of drug.

Fight it! Get addicted to soemthing else like...sex, masturbation, online video game like maplestory or counterstrike, or anything else that is fast paced and doesn-t let you idle.oh so proud that you have given up wish i had the will power remember we are rooting 4 you good lucknicotine is a drug so you are now in withdrawl -- find things to occupy your time -- hang out with friends, play sports etc....by the end of the week you should feel alright go for a walk and get some exercise for about an hr a day and you do feel much better - start chewing gumaw congrats hun well done, its just your body adjusting to having no nicotine in it, keep going, maybe this will help

You already won the two toughest battles, day you quit and surviving the first 3 days. Its all smooth sailing from here. Good luck.It was 3 years for me this past March 1st. The withdrawal period is different for everyone but 4 to 10 days should help you out. What you need the most is WILLPOWER. If you really, really want to succeed. Now take the money you saved and buy yourself a gift, a video game if your into that. There is nothing like seeing a hard reward and comparing it to money going up in smoke. Good luck and hang in there.lol this is the beginning for the change, your body is noticing the absence of the nicotine. once your body no longer craves for the nicotine you-ll feel fine, usually about a couple of weeks.
but i bet u already notice a change in your ability to do things. you-ll notice that u have a stronger sense of taste, u don-t smell of an ash tray and u can walk better without a horrible smokers cough.
don-t give up! just wait til its all over u can turn around to all the smokers and walk by them with a big grin on your face!! :)
