tips please. i s smoking makes a person anti socialYou can-t it-s their freedom of choice. Smoking does not make someone anti-social. (Non-smoker)you cant make anyone do anything.
all you can do is try your hardest to
persuade them into giving up.
remind them constantly of the damage
they are doing to themself and tell them
that smoking DEFINATELY shortens your life
by years if not, gives you cancer.
tell them quitting ofcourse will be hard
butt they have to be strong and not give up,
use patches, ring hotlines,
even buy them this stuff to try help?
remind them of the future they probably
wont have if they continue to smoke.
honestly, good luck,
i am so against smoking.to me, it doesnt make them anti-social cause i have 2 ppl in my life who smoke, and theyre not anti-social at all.You cant.Only a person can decide quit or not.How can we drive a person to stop smoking? -

I get bored easily, and I smoke to fill in the time and its only a few minutes but it gets me busy enough. Now I will be spending over a month at home without going anywhere at all, just waking up everyday and doing nothing. How can I occupy myself to stop smoking, I-m going to try toothpicks but I need activities to keep my mind busy too.Reading, crossword puzzles, hand-held games (solitaire, sudoku or poker), computer games....
Good luck--if your mind is set, you can do it!Cant quit smoking because of boredom? -

want to stop smoking cigarettes for the new year
any success storiesI didn-t smoke for very long, only four years, but it was really hard to quit.
I just stopped and replaced cigarettes with gum (not the nicotine gum, just the normal stuff). Haven-t smoked since. :)ive never smoked and NEVER will but i suggest that you dont chew the gum they use to stop smoking because you will have to poop A LOT. maybe you could replace smoking a cigarette with something else. for example when you want to smoke go get some gum or any food that is healthy. good luckthis helped me i was a smoker 20 yrs. ok i made it impossible for me to have $$ to buy cigerettes. told hubbie to give me wat i neededBest method to stop smoking? -

Why am I coughing grey sputum even if am not smoking? And what to do? -
Sometimes I would cough tiny gel balls with grey streaks to think I have stopped smoking for years now, though, my environment most especially everytime I go home is not smoke-free with all the bus fumes (really black fumes!) and smokers around. Last check-up with chest x-ray (Feb.2008) is normal.sounds like phlegm. no biggie. its gross i know but you-re fine. the poor environment combined with natural congestionWhy am I coughing grey sputum even if am not smoking? Yeah, self determination, really wanting to, I know. Truth is I really want to but end up -changing my mind-. I-ve tried patches, they give me hives. The gum burns my tongue. Lazor didn-t work for me either. Neither did -cold turkey- I have seen all the photo-s, read all the stats, ect. Not enough. I am not against meds, but I don-t know anyone who has used them, so I am unsure if that would really work. Please help! All serious suggestions would be appreciated!I smoked for 36 years. And everything I tried failed until I tried Chantix. I have had no side effects and it really works. Good Luck.Nicocure Stop Smoking Patch Works. Our all natural nicotine patch will help you quit smoking in 15 days or less! http://Quit-Smoking.ze.cxit-s hard i know. i-m taking rx welbruton it helps take away the physical withdrawal part. then you have to contend with the what to do instead of smoking at trigger points signals.I had two friends I used to work with who went for hypnosis. It worked for them. During the remaining 4 years that I worked with them, they never smoked again. Some of the listed side effects for those meds just put me right off that idea.
This is what my hubby and I did to quit. Both of us decided that smoking outside would make us aware of how much and when we smoked, making the effort to not be -comfortable- helped us cut down. Face it 30 degrees on the porch is freezing so we were less likely to -want- to go out there.
We stopped smoking in our vehicles as well, this one was really hard for my hubby as he drives daily an hour to an hour and a half to and from work. Nothing to do but light up and hit the break pedal. He managed by chewing regular gum and concentrated on singing to his CD-s to help pass that -craving- period.
As we soon discovered, headaches were temporary and after the first initial week, we didn-t seem to have them anymore.
Slow yeah maybe, but we didn-t start out smoking a pack a day, we just made a slower move back to being non smokers the same way.
Support groups, medications, gum, patches, -cold turkey- all or none of them work, it really does depend on how you quit as much as it does what you use to quit.
It took us about 2 months of cutting back, making it different then using the above methods, by the time we were at the 8 week mark we were down to 2 each a day, and then it was 0. Neither of us experienced any relaps and its now been about 2 years.
Wishing you the best of luck!I quit after puffing for thirty years by using the product now out on the market called Chantix in the USA and Champix in Canada.
For me the side effects were huge, incredible dreaming, nausea (which I held at bay by taking long acting gravol), insomnia, and gas loads of intestinal gas, now my husband did not have the side effects as badly as I did, he only got the insomnia and gas parts.
I only took the product for three weeks, and had to stop due to the side effects, but that was enough time for me to break that ciggie habit and here I am 187 days later still smoke free.
Yes you need to change habits and use will power but, I will say that this medication really does what it says. You smoke that ciggie and nothing I repeat nothing happens lol it really is the oddest thing.
Good luck to you, I gave myself this for my 50th birthday presentIt-s not going to work cold turkey, of course....Just next time you start to smoke just think about it for a second, and don-t take another puff....Try to exspandthe time periods between each cigerette, and reward yourself for not choosing the cigerette....I tried for a day, then two days then a week then a month, kind like that, not really, kinda though.Instead of -taking- something to quit, here-s what I did.
I switched to Carlton Box for a few weeks before I quit. It was like sucking socks. It broke that -pleasure- response that I had to cigarettes.
Then, I bought a box of Carlton Box and put it in the pantry. I basically quit cold turkey but there was that box in the pantry if I -needed- it. That way I didn-t panic that there weren-t any cigarettes in the house. I just challenged myself not to smoke. At first it was minute to minute. Then hour to hour, day to day, and eventually I just stopped having the urge to smoke. Every now and then I get the urge, but once I see how expensive cigarettes are these days it is pretty easy to squash the impulse to start up again. Mostly, the smell of stale cigarette smoke gags me now.
Good luck!I like the nicotine lozenges. Commit, or CVS and Walgreens make generic brands.
They can burn a bit when you first start using them, but you get used to it. It-s worth putting up with a little discomfort in the beginning.
Lozenges are good because you can pop something in your mouth when you are having a craving. They do give you a little nicotine rush too. Try holding them against your cheek -- don-t just suck on them.
The worked for me. Stopped smoking a year ago.Stop smoking aids? -

i am readyJust stop, Marijuana is not a phyically dependance producting drug. It is only physological, and even then, it is a weak addiction,as its not terribly euphoric and does not have a come down like say, Cocaine.
It should be no big deal, and even if you relapse now adn then, no big deal again. It is in of it self non toxic (yes that is right, it is not toxic, it does not cause cellular death, that being the definition of toxic!) and the harm comes from the inhaled smoke, which of course is bad for your lungs....but if you did it only on the rare time, this harm is minimal.Get into a smoking cessation group. You will have some the same withdrawl issues as people who smoke cigarettes. The American Heart and Lung Assn. may have some resources. Narcotics anonymous may be helpful as well.
I do know that when you are withdrawing from cigs or weed there is alot of electrolyte imbalances that can occur. You may notice that you sweat more/pee more etc. The thing to remember is to stay VERY hydrated, take a good multivitamin, drink sports drinks if you are not a water person (water is best). This will help you flush out a lot of residue/toxins in your body.
Clean you house from top to bottom. Throw a lot of crap away. This will help getting rid of the smell but also, it is good psychologically too. If you had a special area where you toked up, change it. Take any reminder of those warm fuzzy feeling out of your sight. You don-t need any reminders of that.
Make a list of people who you can count on and those that you NEED TO AVOID. Schedule yourself around those people you know will make it hard for you to stay clean. Start hanging out with people who you know will not tempt you.
If you see anyone toking up--leave. No questions asked.
Thank you for making a positive change in your life. Take Care!Completely leave your old friends you hung out with smoking weed. You shouldn-t talk to, see, or be with them at all. As much as they say they will support you or that it doesn-t matter if you don-t smoke weed with them, it-s a lie. Never hang out with them again. Move if you have to.
Build a support network. Join an AA group for marijuana. Talk to a counselor. Try rehab, if you need to. Get new friends and talk to your family about your problem.
Addiction is a hard road, and you can beat it.will power. if you want it bad enough you-ll do what you need to do to stop. Stay busy it will keep your mind off it.Flush it down the toilet and don-t buy anymore. DuhWhat is the best way to stop smoking weed after 10 long years? -
