My sister wont stop smoking,even with cancer!how can i get through to her? -

shes just been diagnosed with tongue cancer,shes due to start radiotheraphy for 6 weeks on 6 june shes a smoker and drinker i know she will stop the booze but shes finding it hard to stop smoking,shes been told the treatment wont work if she carrys on smoking!im trying to help her all the way,but its like talking to a brick wall,we both looked after my brother who died of throat cancer two years ago but he was not smoker /drinker she seen him suffer terrible but icant get through to her ?It just seems like when people get to that point, they figure they-ve been smoking this long anyway, so what good would quitting do now? I-ve seen so many of my relatives do the same thing. However, I-m also a smoker and it is THAT addictive. I hope to have quit before anything like that happens to me.

Anyway, there is nothing you can do. She has to want to quit for herself. Just remember that this is a very hard time for her and your pestering her will only make it worse and in turn, make her want to smoke even more. Be as supportive as you can though.

Best wishes.like anything addicting, she has to want to stop- it has to come from within, not sure if her doctor told her about the medical precriptions that are available now, but she should ask!She has to want to quit herself. There isn-t anything you can do to make her want to. If cancer isn-t enough of a motivating factor, then she probably never will. My ex is an alcoholic, and I tried EVERYTHING to get him to stop drinking and it just boiled down to he didn-t want to stop badly enough. It-s why he-s my ex. I understand she is your sister, and you need to be there for her no matter what, but I think you also need to realize that no amount of effort on your part will make her quit.

If I am alone I don-t crave for it half as much as if I-m with someone.Boredom, when with someone you have someone to keep your mind off it. When a lone you are most likely not as busy and your mind is looking for something to keep yourself busy such as pick up a smoke.Get one of your friends to smash your fingers with a large hammer. It-s very difficult to hold a cigerette when your hands are in plaster!! Should help.Try to find things to do that you enjoy when you are by yourself. keep yourself occupied, and don-t give up! Good luck!Thats crazy, ive often wondered myself. i used to date this guy that hated that i smoked. since it was a long distance relationship i would only see him about every other weekend. at first i wouldnt smoke but i would crave them. Then i would forget i was a smoker the whole weekend. but the minute he left my drive way i was huffing away. i always took it as being a good canidate to be able to quit one day.oooh you better watch out because you will turn into that most peculiar of personalities- the SECRET smoker. It-s the secrecy that adds to the excitement BUT even if you only smoke one cigarette a year you-re still a smoker.

It-s for someone I know. They don-t know that their smoking bothers me (they don-t smoke around me, but I care about them, and they know it), is it bad if I give a pack of the gum that helps you stop smoking along with another gift.put the non smoking gum in another gum pack. and yes along with another gift.I think that would be great. i know smoking affects every aspect of life. but what is the impact of smoking and a mans love life? does it cause -shrinkage- as well? are the effects reversiable if a person stops smoking?nicotine is a stressful substance. And when ur stressed, u have less apetite and u produce less sperm and u -come- faster. U think nicotine takes the stress away, but to ur body its just replacing adernalin with something else.
On the other hand when ur in a non-stressful situation, ur body digests evrything fast, ur kidneys work really fast and ur penis gets an erection but you dont ejaculate.
