Taking Chantix to stop smoking.Help!? -
I am on day 8 of taking Chantix. I don-t feel any different and am smoking the same amount- about 1 and a half packs a day. Would taking Wellbutrin or wearing a patch help? This is the ninth time I have tried to stop and have done hypnosis several times, gone to a stop smoking clinic, did acupuncture and tried cold turkey several times. I did stop once for three years and started smoking almost to the day three years later. I also feel quite militant about all this and feel like I am being forced into it. I know I need an attitude adjustment but i have smoked for many years and feel fine. Please- no finger wagging- I get enough of that.
Does anyone who has been successful with Chantix have any useful advise for this old gal?I took Chantix from October through December of last year. I set a quit date (based on the number of packs of cigarettes I had left in the carton) and went from there. On my quit date I still had a half a pack of cigarettes and expected to feel somehow different but there I was not feeling any different (other than the fact that the Chantix would give me an upset stomach every time I smoked) and still smoking. Once I ran out of cigarettes (around lunch time) I just stopped smoking. I still had behavioral cravings but knowing that the Chantix was keeping me from being physically addicted to the cigarettes made things easier because to me then, it was just all in my head and that was something I knew I could control.
Try this out as a test, once you run out of cigarettes just don-t buy any more (keep taking the Chantix though!). As long as you-re taking Chantix as prescribed, I think you-ll be pleasantly surprised with the results!
I wish you the best of luck! I-ve been smoke free for a little over 9 months now.Chantix is an excellent way to stop smoking with minimal side effects. For more Chantix information, click the following link:

I took chantix and it took about 2 weeks to start slowing down on my nicotine intake, but that is when the real problem started. I begin to have the most vivid nightmares about all kinds of terrible things I would have at least 10-15 nightmares in one night and wake up every 30 minutes it was horrible.
I still smoke I am currently looking into a shot that you get. They shoot you in each arm and once in the back of the neck. I have had multiple friends that have had this done and they all quit and say they have not even had a slight urge to start smoking again.
On the other hand if you like smoking that much and you don-t feel like crap doing go ahead and smoke. Why let someone else tell you that you should stop doing it if you enjoy it smoke....
That-s my opinion....
