I need help to stop smoking, please? -

Give me some tips or hobbies to stop smoking pleaseeeee
I smoke about 2 packs a day and im 16!! I need to quit to get
in shape fast, so please if you will give me some tips to help
me stop this addiction,.Gauge whether or not it is chemical or habitual. If it is just the mental, -habitual- sort of addiction just find something to replace it like mints or something. Mel Gibson chose dog treats in Lethal Weapon in example. If it is mainly chemical and a physical deal then ration x amount per day. and decrease the amount a little bit per week. Like Week A you smoke 18, Week B 16, ect, ect.I used the patch and it worked really well for me. I was only about a pack a day, but it almost completely curbed my cravings. However, I undertook a pretty significant overall lifestyle change at the same time too, which was key. I stopped going to bars for a few months (probably something you don-t have to worry about) where I-d totally be tempted to smoke, I joined a couple running clubs and started running a few nights a week, joined a gym and changed my eating habits. If you really want to, you can quit. I was pretty much resigned to being a smoker for life because my addiction kept getting the best of me. If I can do it, anyone can. Good luck!!I quit smoking cold turkey at age 18 when I was a freshman in college. I smoked heavily too but realized one day that it sucked- I-d grown up in a smoke infested house so I was used to it until then.

First thing I did was give away my cigarettes and anything else associated with smoking. I told all my smoking friends I was quitting- they were old enough to be supportive but yours may not be. If so, tell them you-re quitting and avoid them if they try to tempt you to restart. I chewed gum until my jaws ached- literally. I avoided social situations where I would want to smoke until I felt I had a handle on it- that was back when everyone smoked in bars, restaurants- yuck- so it was harder to be in a smoke free environment then.

The hardest part was breaking the rituals of smoking- the feeling of knowing what to do with my hands, what to fiddle with when I was hanging out socializing. It was easier to be active or in a place where I couldn-t smoke- like a library, but I got into the habit of folding empty sugar packets into complex shapes, for example- just to keep my hands busy.

I also began to relish the smell of clean hair, skin and clothes. I even learned to love the smell of chlorine on my skin after swimming because those were all smells untainted by smoke.

Hobbies? Well, you say you want to get into shape fast so exercise could easily take the place of smoking- try swimming (smoke and chlorine really are a dreadful combination), biking, dog walking for pay (dogs hate cigarettes unless they-ve been around them a lot), Nia, yoga.... Nia and Yoga both involve positive visualization techniques (assuming you have a good teacher) and gratitude for your body so those could help a lot. If you can-t locate a good teacher, do what exercises you can and incorporate the positive thinking with your exercise.

good luck. You-ll be happy you did it.I try getting my dad off smoking. I usually flush or hide his cigarettes. Have a supporter(i.e. dad, mom, sister, friend). Quit slowly, if you go cold turkey your body will go nuts. You-ll puke, be in a extremely bad mood all the time, and be sick to your stomach. All going cold turkey does is make discourage into trying again. There are many free, non-profit programs out there to get you to stop. They probably can help you the most. Don-t be embarrassed in approaching the programs, your body will thank you. Think about it. Every cigarette takes on average 10 minutes away from your life.try chewing gum, its not good to smoke at all let alone 2packs a day. And you cant quit smoking, you have made it a habbit. so now you have to REPLACE it with a new helthy habbit, like chewing gum, so you replace your bad habbit with a one that dosent hurt you.You have to taper off your smoking habit. Gradually cut back so you are down to 1 pack. You can try nicorette gum for your cravings. Stopping smoking will be the best thing you have done in your life so far.Try
