How do i go about trying to get my mother to stop smoking.? -
she-s been smoking for nearly 40 years and need some advice on trying to get her to stop without critising herThe new wonder drug for quiting is Chantrix. It helps to block the Nicotine receptors in the brain and helps the person have fewer cravings. Take her to the doctor and get a script.Tell her that when you were young you thought she was the best looking Mum in the World, and then tell her that now her Skin is a Yellow colour and that her Hair is a Drab colour and the House smells like an Ashtray all the Time.Point out to her that even the Decoration in all the Rooms look and smell horrible too. Wash a couple of Doors down and show her the water.
Hope it works, have you pointed out how much she could Save a week and if she does Stop she will be able to taste her Food again properlyand begin to Look like the Mum she used to be.Walk around her with -OUST- and keep spraying her to get rid of the foul odor.Tell her that you enjoy seeing her alive and that you love her. Try to be sympathetic towards her situation because quitting is really hard. maybe show her some ways to stop (patches, pills, gums, etc...) so it-s easier for her.Quitting is something she is going to have to do when -shes ready- but you can try introducing her to the nicotene gum or patch and see if she likes it, but dont get your hopes up.People smoke to control stress and if she smokes = she has lots of stress. To have her own son or daughter criticize her about smoking would be the meanest thing you could ever do. It would hurt your mom worse than smoking does. Then she would just have more stress. If she ever brings up quitting tell her that welbutrin is an anti depressant that also helps stop smoking so that it will control the cravings and the stress. But make sure she takes something and the doctor that prescribes it has it control her stress or she will eat and eat and grow and grow and grow. Most people who stop (most) gain 40 to 60 pounds the first year because stress is not under control. Stress also causes heart attack and stroke worse than cigarettes. Cigarettes are a small part - stress is a big big part - cigarettes control stress. So let your mom be and support her and don-t ever say anything until she brings it up. Hope this helps you figure this out.
