How can I stop smoking? -
in my life timeI quit. ... Just cutt off your sources. Try to avoid goign to places where you will be tempted to buy them. Fill your time with something else when you want a cig. its hard but you can do itdon-t but cigarettes and don-t smoke other peoples either! There you goStop buying cigarettes.I did it too, I found the first three days were the worst, the rest was really easy.Go on the patches I gave up on News Years Eve and feel great already after less than a week. It is easier than you think and I was on 20 a dayReplacement Replacement Replacement with some other protruding material excreting orificewhat i did was every time I craved a cigarette I forced myself to do 10 press ups(or as many as I could do). The endorphins released from that were enough to stop the carving momentarily, and the subsequent pain of having to keep doing press ups everytime I felt like having a smoke meant I broke the desire to want them...
I also used gum and mints - yes, you will still get cravings, but they will be easier to resist after a few weeks.by having lots of emotional support... tell yourself why you want to stop.. on a regular basis.... perhaps make a list of good and bad things about smoking and not smoking... post it everywhere... try the nicotine patches.... consult a doctor... join a smokers group... exercise.. do more outside activities.. etc... there are lots of creative ways.. you jsut have to be.. well.. creative.. best of luck!My father stopped smoking by chewing gum or eating sun flower seeds whenever he craved for cigarettes. It worked and it kept his mouth busy until the craving was gone. Yes you can feel grumpy, but quiting is not impossible.
+Joker+When I gave up smoking I went to a stop smoking clinic and they used hypnosis. Don-t think that you quit smoking, you need to think of yourself as a nonsmoker. It has been almost 6 years since I became a nonsmoker and I stil Have cravings sometimes. It is a damned tough habit to beat but it can be done. GOOD LUCK!!!!You know how, its just that hard.
Resist the urge, or cave. Its your choice either way.
- 7 weeks without even a puff. Still have cravings.I started smoking for a very stupid reason. when i was in college some guy was smoking next to me. Stupid me thought i would try one and that would be that. Boy was i wrong. i came home for Christmas and my dad warned me that i would get addicted. I just did not listen. I have smoked on and off for the past 9 years. My doc gave me a new drug called chantix. you keep smoking while you take the first pack of of the drug (i think its 10 days) and than you stop smoking, but keep taking the pills until you are ready to stop. My advice for those who smoke or are thinking about it. DONT even have one cig.. once you do you are hooked and for those who already do smoke. STOP. i know its easier said than done, but you will feel better, you will smell better and most of all..you will live lot longer.Ask your doctor about Chantix. It is a pill that eventually makes your body stop craving the nicotine. I don-t think insurance pays for it, but not sure how much it is either. I guess it depends on how bad you want to quit. I have heard that it is successful.make it a spur of the moment thing
don-t give up - giving upIf you really want to stop smoking you can do it...My friend has been smoking ever since she was 13 years old and now she-s 58. One day she decided she needed to quit smoking for the sake of her health and she made it...For the first time couple of weeks I think it was hard for her but she make it. Now she doesn-t smoke...You-ve to want it to stop smoking...and you can do it. If others can do ...I would say you can do it too...Hi,
I quit this time last year having had a 30 a day habit. I-d tried and failed with allsorts until I was recommended this program - see below.
It also came with a money back guarantee - can-t say fairer than that!
All the best. You need to consider the consequences. You-ve already cut your life by 5-10 yrs, wasted on average $1,080 on packs of cigarattes, reduced the size of your brain cells, and more important inhaled alchool! Breathing will get tougher and you will DIE. Smoking is serious. You don-t do it because it-s fun. You need to stop. You basically wasted your life the minute you picked up that first cigare.
PS:
There are also some pills out there that will fix up your brain from the damage of smoking.if you smoke 20 a day, try and smoke 19, and reward yourself for that, and continue decreasing little by littleI have never smoked, but my mother died of cardiac heart disease at the age of 52 after a life time smoking. Cardiac heart disease is the most common death amongst smokers.
John Cleese used to promote the way he gave up, its horrible but worked for him.
He took an ashtray full of cigarette butts and ash, poured it into a jar and filled it with water. Every time he craved a cigarette he would take the top of the jar and smell the contents. This is how smokers smell to non smokers. When you realise this is how you smell all the time maybe that is a way of getting over the craving. eventually your sense of smell will come back, you will come into contact with a smoker and be overwhelmed by the pungent aroma. That is when you are cured.find a sport u like and train,if u don like sports find something to keep your self busy and when u feel like smoking eat chokolate or some food u like.something else,to stop smoking u shud be very DETERMINED to stop and PLEEEEZ don-t GIVE UP,have faith!!!!!
