I-m 17 years old and I just got put on this MonoNessa birth control pill and I-ve been smoking for about 3 years now. I was just wondering since I-m not over the age of 30 would it still be alright to smoke occasionally and slowly quit while being on this pill? I-ve cut down alot to where I only smoke 3 a day. I know its a risk that could lead to alot of serious problems and i dont wanna get answers about NO NO STOP SMOKING ITS BAD BAD BAD. I want a real honest answer and if any of you guys know of anyone who is still alright and they are taking the pill and smoking too.The pill itself increases your chance of blood clots and stroke. Smoking increases your chance of stroke. So, together the pill and smoking greatly increases your chance of stroke due to a blood clot. However, this risk is greater in people who are older and in people who smoke heavily (more than 15 cigarettes a day).Plenty of people smoke and take the pill and are fine. Some people who don-t smoke get blood clots and have strokes. It-s just that the combination of all these activities can increase your risk like, driving can be dangerous; being drunk can be dangerous, but being drunk while you-re driving is potentially more dangerous.
