How to get dad to stop smoking? -

my dad has been saying the smokers saying -Ill quit as soon as ____, i will quit next month- ect. im really getting angry because its just dumb i dont care how hard it is to just stop smoking and sometimes when i talk to him about it which i have a million times he just laughs and says -thanks for caring about me son- and just walks away as if it was a joke, or he just gets angry. i know cigarettes help with stress and all that but if thats what you have to resort to i always tell him your not better than a alcoholic, cocain user, or everything else. im considering just throwing out all the cigarette boxes i just find but i KNOW my dad will be angry, any tips?? its just that my dad almost is not willing to quit.I hate to have to say this, but there is really no other way to help other than lending your support and telling him how you feel. If you do throw the boxes you find out, he-ll just go buy more, right?
Trust me, I-m in the exact same situation. I-ve found that there-s nothing more that I can do.
If you want to try and limit the amount he smokes, what I sometimes do, is if I know we-re going for a long drive, I-ll sneak his cigars into the house, so he thinks he-s forgotten them once we-ve left.

It-ll be okay, hon.i know what u mean, may be warn him about all the dangers of smoking, not only for himself, but for u and others. i think the best thing is to tell him that it really bothers u, and that u hate seeing him do that to himself. say it very calmly with support. if he sees that it really bothers u, maybe it will help him quit

oh and if we wont do it for himself, he should do it for u. if u have siblings or other close family who can help, ask them for their support. i hope that helps!Honey, your dad is addicted. And he won-t quit until he makes up his mind to quit. Try not to be around him when he-s smoking so you won-t breathe in that stuff.
