Hi, Ive tried everything to stop smoking, but Im still smoking? -

any suggestions? please help, my girlfriend may leave me because of this since I-ve told 5 times that I would quit

thanks so muchThe only way that you will quit smoking is when you decide to quit for yourself .... no one else can make the decision for you... If you quit to please your girlfriend, you will be more likely to start back... when you decide you want to quit for YOU, that-s when you will be successful ! All the gimmicks in the world will not work unless your heart and mind are determined . Make no mistakes about it.... No Ifs,Ands or Butts About It Smoking STINKS!!! Decide for yourself!I was a smoker for 25 years and I had quit smoking for over six times ,but never really quit smoking before.Just after I read that quit smoking program, I realized how easy quitting smoking was.I am a non-smoker now! I highly recommend this program to you.It really works. You can check out

Good luck!you must have strong determination, think of your lovely girlfriend, encourage yourself to quit because of her.I really must agree with stardust fairy. Chantix is an excellent medication for people who are committed to quitting. It attaches to the same receptor sites in the brain that nicotine does without the side effects. Most of my patients who are three pack a day or more smokers quit smoking within two to three weeks using this product. I strongly urge you to keep trying even if you don-t use this medication. Just look on your other attempts as practice for successfully obtaining your goal. Don-t do it for your girl friend. Do it for yourself and for a lifetime of health. Try searching the Tobacco Quit line and the CDC, as well as, the American Lung Association for additional information and products such as the patch and gums. I truly wish you the best of luck in your endeavor.being a smoker myself it may be dificult to take my advice but i did quit for 2 years cold turkey. addiction is a difficult thing to break but its all in your head. you just have to tell yourself NO!. everytime you want a smoke just say no. its all about mind power. also if you drink it makes it a lot harder to stop.In order to actually follow through you have to be willing. Use your girlfriend as your strength. Tell yourself for HER you have to quit. Is it worth losing her over?

My husband quit for me without me asking before we were ever even together, when we were just friends, and 5 years later he is still a NON smoker.i wish you had been more specific about what everything means. i quit with a combination of things. i spoke to my doc. she gave me some anti anxiety meds that i used in conjunction with the patch and lots of behaviour modifications.ie: drinking my coffee in a new spot or staying out of the places/rooms that i smoked most. you could also ask your girlfriend to help. you could take up a new hobby that takes both hands to do or wouldn-t smoke while doing. i also promised my daughter that when the baby was born that i would quit, i just couldn-t break my promise. pick a quit day prepare yourself for victory, join a support group if need be. good luck i am now smoke free for two and a half months. it still is not easy but i just take it one day at a time sometimes 1 minute at a time. sometimes i get stressed enough that i just have to go for a long long walk to keep from smoking. you see my brother and husband still smoke in the house we share. will power is a huge help so is a good friend to talk to.I just quit well about 45 days ago. I used Chantix. It is the best product I have used. You have to want it quit for it to work. My husband has tried it and it did not work but he did not try to quit.

Good Luck and Best Wishes. The problem MUST be self diagnosed and then self treated. Nothing else works.

No one could tell me my problem, although they tried. Not until I realized it myself, and not until I really wanted to, could I do anyting about it.

I was a heavy smoker(3 packs a day)for over 40 years. Now I have COPD/Empysema and am on medications and oxygen. I smoked through all of this until recently.

Like others in this forum, I used prescription Chantix. After trying every other method (patches, gum, lozenges, hypnosis, etc.) finally this worked for me. I quit on 6/5/07 and hope I will never smoke again. I still don-t know if it was the prescription or if I had just finally made up my mind...I think it was the latter.

God luck to youOk, I am going to tell you something that helped me to quit after ten years, my brother after 12 years, my next door neighbour after 40 years of smoking and the list goes on....

Go on Amazon and spend 5 pounds on a book called -The Easy way to stop smoking- by Allen Carr.

The book is not long and takes a completely different view than any other stop-smoking aid. You even smoke while you read the book.
He takes away all possible reasons to smoke in the first place and instead of tell you the dangers of smoking that you already know. For example, he says smoking appears to be a relief like if you stopped banging you head against the wall. Instead of smoking, why not just stop banging your head against the wall in the first place!

I PROMISE, THIS WILL WORK.
I would wish you luck, but you don-t need it, it-s a simple choice you have to make.
