Give me some tips or hobbies to stop smoking pleaseeeee
I smoke about 2 packs a day and im 16!! I need to quit to get
in shape fast, so please if you will give me some tips to help
me stop this addiction,.Gauge whether or not it is chemical or habitual. If it is just the mental, -habitual- sort of addiction just find something to replace it like mints or something. Mel Gibson chose dog treats in Lethal Weapon in example. If it is mainly chemical and a physical deal then ration x amount per day. and decrease the amount a little bit per week. Like Week A you smoke 18, Week B 16, ect, ect.I used the patch and it worked really well for me. I was only about a pack a day, but it almost completely curbed my cravings. However, I undertook a pretty significant overall lifestyle change at the same time too, which was key. I stopped going to bars for a few months (probably something you don-t have to worry about) where I-d totally be tempted to smoke, I joined a couple running clubs and started running a few nights a week, joined a gym and changed my eating habits. If you really want to, you can quit. I was pretty much resigned to being a smoker for life because my addiction kept getting the best of me. If I can do it, anyone can. Good luck!!I quit smoking cold turkey at age 18 when I was a freshman in college. I smoked heavily too but realized one day that it sucked- I-d grown up in a smoke infested house so I was used to it until then.
First thing I did was give away my cigarettes and anything else associated with smoking. I told all my smoking friends I was quitting- they were old enough to be supportive but yours may not be. If so, tell them you-re quitting and avoid them if they try to tempt you to restart. I chewed gum until my jaws ached- literally. I avoided social situations where I would want to smoke until I felt I had a handle on it- that was back when everyone smoked in bars, restaurants- yuck- so it was harder to be in a smoke free environment then.
The hardest part was breaking the rituals of smoking- the feeling of knowing what to do with my hands, what to fiddle with when I was hanging out socializing. It was easier to be active or in a place where I couldn-t smoke- like a library, but I got into the habit of folding empty sugar packets into complex shapes, for example- just to keep my hands busy.
I also began to relish the smell of clean hair, skin and clothes. I even learned to love the smell of chlorine on my skin after swimming because those were all smells untainted by smoke.
Hobbies? Well, you say you want to get into shape fast so exercise could easily take the place of smoking- try swimming (smoke and chlorine really are a dreadful combination), biking, dog walking for pay (dogs hate cigarettes unless they-ve been around them a lot), Nia, yoga.... Nia and Yoga both involve positive visualization techniques (assuming you have a good teacher) and gratitude for your body so those could help a lot. If you can-t locate a good teacher, do what exercises you can and incorporate the positive thinking with your exercise.
good luck. You-ll be happy you did it.I try getting my dad off smoking. I usually flush or hide his cigarettes. Have a supporter(i.e. dad, mom, sister, friend). Quit slowly, if you go cold turkey your body will go nuts. You-ll puke, be in a extremely bad mood all the time, and be sick to your stomach. All going cold turkey does is make discourage into trying again. There are many free, non-profit programs out there to get you to stop. They probably can help you the most. Don-t be embarrassed in approaching the programs, your body will thank you. Think about it. Every cigarette takes on average 10 minutes away from your life.try chewing gum, its not good to smoke at all let alone 2packs a day. And you cant quit smoking, you have made it a habbit. so now you have to REPLACE it with a new helthy habbit, like chewing gum, so you replace your bad habbit with a one that dosent hurt you.You have to taper off your smoking habit. Gradually cut back so you are down to 1 pack. You can try nicorette gum for your cravings. Stopping smoking will be the best thing you have done in your life so far.Try

The best way to release anxiety and stop smoking? -
exercise will definitely helpjust don-t think about smoking.. think of other stuff. The best way to stop smoking is to a) remove yourself from society for three (3) days while you get the nicotine out of your system (lock yourself in your house and do not leave for any reason), and b) find something or a place to go when you have a craving. I-m fortunate enough to have a hottub handy, so I go there whenever I have the craving for a smoke. Also, it-s good to exercise a lot to get rid of the jitters. It-s tough, but stay strong and you can do it.exercisepractice yoga.Just Do It. I did , After smoking for 10 years I decided no more. Chew gum like Big Red or Dentyne. My husband quit a few months after me.He had smoked alot longer than myself. We have been smoke free now for over 12 years. Even though recently my husband was put on oxygen because of the damage to his lungs. He has to carry a tank around every where he goes. We should have stopped sooner. JUST STOP NOW.All depending on where you live laser therapy is a great way to both stop smoking and relieve anxiety.. Try checking out the website www.stopsmokingnow.com. Get the Facts
Easyway, founded by Allen Carr in 1983, has the highest independently verified 12-month success rate (75.8% for a smoker completing the program) of any quit smoking technique and a 90% satisfaction rating.
Compare Easyway to other methods and see for yourself why Easyway is called “The Cadillac of quit smoking methods.”
The Allen Carr Method
HOW THE METHOD WORKS
Using psychotherapy, the method works in the opposite way to the “willpower” method. It does not concentrate on the reasons the smoker should not smoke : the money, the slavery, the health risks and the stigma. Smokers know all that already. Instead it focuses on why smokers continue to smoke in spite of the obvious disadvantages.
It is fear that keeps smokers hooked!
Fear the smoker will have to give up their pleasure or crutch. Fear the smoker will be unable to enjoy life or handle stress. Fear the smoker will have to go through an awful trauma to get free. Fear the smoker will never get completely free from the craving.
The Method removes these fears
Smokers quit with the Allen Carr Method as happy non-smokers, not feeling deprived but with a huge sense of relief and elation that they have finally achieved what they always wanted….
TO BE FREE!
What about the terrible withdrawal pangs from nicotine?
The physical withdrawal from nicotine is so slight that most smokers don’t realise that they are addicts. What smokers suffer when they try and quit using other methods is the misery and depression caused by the belief that they are being deprived of a pleasure or a crutch.
The Allen Carr Method removes this feeling of deprivation.
It removes the need and desire to smoke. Once the smoker is in the right frame of mind and they follow the simple instructions, the physical withdrawal from nicotine is hardly noticeable.
No Gimmicks!
The Method does not use any gimmicks, useless aids or substitutes. No nicotine gum, patches, lozenges, tabs, inhilators or nasal sprays! No needles! No lasers! No drugs! No herbs! No shock treatment!
The Allen Carr Method is successful because:
It removes the smokers’ conflict of will.
There are no bad withdrawal pangs.
It is instantaneous and easy.
It is equally effective for long-term heavy smokers and light smokers.
You need not gain weight.
You will not miss smoking.
Medical Endorsements
A personal view from Professor Judith Mackay MBE, JP, FRCO (Edin), FRCP (Lon), World Health Organisation Advisory Panel on Tobacco and Health
“I have no hesitation in supporting Allen Carr’s work. Many clinics use some of his techniques but it would appear that few do it in quite such a successful package.”
Carole Johnson, Coronary Heart Disease Prevention Unit, Tyne Tees
“his success rate was such that, when budgets allow, we continue to use Easyway for work with specific groups and individuals.”
Dr Anil Visa BSc, MBBch., FRCA, Consultant – Royal Hospitals NHS Trust – Royal London Hospital
“I have observed the Allen Carr method at first hand and have found it to be very successful and I wholeheartedly support it as an effective way to quit smoking.”
Dr William Green, Head of Psychiatric Dept, Matilda Hospital, Hong Kong
“It is a remarkable fact that Allen Carr, on his own admission a non-professional in behaviour modification, should have succeeded where countless psychologists and psychiatrists holding postgraduate qualifications have failed, in formulating a simple and effective way to stop smoking.”
Dr Martin Jarvis, Principle Scientist, Imperial Cancer Research
Fund and Reader in Health Psychology, University College London
”...I am more than happy to testify to Allen Carr’s enduring involvement and to recognise the value of the kind of behavioural and cognitive support he provides.”
Dr PM Bray MB CH.b., MRCGP
“I was really impressed by the method. In spite of the Allen Carr organisation’s success and fame, there were no gimmicks and the professional approach was something a GP could readily respect. I would be happy to give a medical endorsement of the method to anyone.”
Celebrity Endorsements
-His method is absolutely unique, removing the dependence on cigarettes, while you are actually smoking. I’m pleased to say it has worked for many of my friends and staff.”
Sir Richard Branson
“Some friends of mine who had stopped using Allen Carr’s method suggested I tried it. I did. It was such a revelation that instantly I was freed from my addiction. Like those friends of mine, I found it not only easy but unbelievably enjoyable to stay stopped.”
Sir Anthony Hopkins

Trying to quit smoking? -
I-m trying to quit smoking. I used to smoke about 10 or 15 a day, and have cut down to just one in the afternoon (when I wake up) and around this time-like 1 am, just had one a few minutes ago. I-m trying to replace my habit with something else while I let the dog run around and use the bathroom, because thats what I do when she-s out there. Any ideas what else I can do during that time, to stop smoking altogether? It will be easier to quit just smoking. One of my fathers friends quit by placing a mark with a pencil a few millimeters away from the filter, and every week move that line a few more mm away from the filter until he was satisfied with only a puff or two. At that point he was able to quit without a problem.Stop Smoking Treatment ~ Exercise Program

My mum had suffered a little with her heart a while back and it no longer causes her great discomfort, however she suffered a brain hemorage earlier this year, to wich we nearly lost her. She was desperatley advised and begged to stop smoking and drink less. But 4 months on and after lots of promises being made and broken, i have once again caught her smoking. I know she-s my mum and that she is an adult, but i cant help but feel that at me being nearly 24, that i fear for her health, far more then she does herself. I honestly thought that after all the tears and fear brought to her attention after the time she was caught before, that she would kick the habbit. I had been encouraging her by saying shes doing well, and that were all proud of her and we got into a routine of spending nights in watching films with the money she had saved through not smoking - well so i thought. I am desperate to help her, but how can i help her more?id appreciate any advise, please....My mother had a stroke when I was 24 and was also told to quit smoking we encouraged her to do so but she just wouldn-t. I know you fear for your mums life as I do but sometimes you just have to stand back and let loved ones do what they want even if you know its damaging them. My mum still smokes 10 years later and although I wish she would stop but its her life. Sorry I couldn-t wave a magic wand.I Had A Hard Time Quitting Until Doc Gave Me Bupropion (Brand Names Are Wellbutrin and Zyban)
Helped ALOT, Took It For A Week While Smoking Following Week I Was Able To Cut Down To 3 Cigs A Day (From a pack and a half) and then quit the next week.Sorry if she doen-t want to stop you won-t make her. If it is her one pleasure in life and she is not afraid it will kill her sooner than she needs to go then she will keep smoking. My mum is still alive 25 years after a heart attack because she never smoked and my wifes mum has passed away because she couldn-t stop no matter what! She knows what she is doing and still chooses to smoke!try to send her to yoga class. that is a perfect solution . tell her to read the book -You can win- . i am sure this will be a great help to your mom . sit with her on a nice evening and consult her . ask her true wishes and make her fill that you are her true son/daughter and you are the one to rescue her . go on asking questions and she will tell you everything .Sug I understand what you are saying but you can not live your mum-s life for her. She is an adult. I know that you love her and you want her to kick the habit, but that is a choice that she has to make, not you, despite all the encouragement that you have given her. It is obvious that she does not want to quit despite your and her doctors best efforts.
I would suggest trying these web sites listed below and print the info out for her. Let her read them and maybe (even go as far as shocking graphics of smokers lung or someone with a tracheotomy due to smoking). It may open her eyes to the dangers of smoking. I do wish you the best of luck. The only person that can help your mum is your mum. She has to want to do it for herself.it is difficult, I have smoked since I was 17 and have been begged by all my kids etc to give up for years, I tried and failed each time, I then bought a book whilst out shopping, it was -Allen Carrs easy way to give up smoking- it is written by a bloke who smoked up to 100 cigs a day at times, and how he tried everything to give up, he encourages you to smoke whilst reading his book, he never says you should give up either. What he does is he tells you about his uphill struggle and he just KNOWS what it-s like to be trapped, he has been an inspiration to me and I gave up smoking when I finished the book and my life and health is sooooo much better, I don-t feel I have -given- up on anything or I am -losing- out on smoking, buy this book for your mum and ask her to read it, tell her I would have walked out on my family if they had made me choose between them and my cigs, that was how addicted I was!! if I can do it then she can, this guy just knows how to help people like me, he makes so much sense and Knows what we have been going through for years. Good luck.Smoking against doctors orders? -
