My mom wants to stop smoking..? -
She has been smoking for many years and has been sick for the last three years...had a stroke, seizures, etc. She is on many meds and should NOT be smoking. She quit a few times and has tried a lot of methods...patch, acupunture, etc. Any suggestions how she can quit? She really needs to stop!Medical Help:
If you can get professional medical help, then it’s even better. Getting professional medical help does not mean that you have to undergo prolonged medical treatment. Your doctor or even your dentist will be able to guide you and provide you with all the solutions to your queries. They will be able to suggest methods of handling the withdrawal symptoms and even prescribe medicines that can help you, and they can give you even more tips on stopping smoking.
Medicines:
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved five medications to help you quit smoking:
1. Bupropion SR — Available by prescription
2. Nicotine gum — Available over-the-counter
3. Nicotine inhaler — Available by prescription
4. Nicotine nasal spray — Available by prescription
5. Nicotine patch — Available by prescription and over-the-counter
Taking these medicines will not just double your chances of succeeding but will actually increase your chances by a whopping 80%. But of course it is highly recommended that you start using these medicines after consulting a medical practitioner.
Counseling:
You might also consider possibilities like group counseling or telephone counseling. Group counseling has a wonderful effect, because there is nothing that feels as good as having others who face the same problems that you are encountering. When you hear the fears of others, and how difficult it is for them to pull through, you will feel surprisingly encouraged. Group counseling will provide you with a wonderful arena to compare notes with other fellow quitters and you can watch and monitor your progress.ask dr for Chantix new drug it works I have smoked for 48yr and I no longer smoke.

There is this place down here in Fl that does advanced lazer therapy. it would have worked for my husband had I been able to quit cold turkey but he got lonely and wanted to come out and be with me, so he started again. It is sort of like acupuncture but with out the needles. They speed up your endorphins wich makes you thirsty but not crave a sig.I heard that there-s a kind of chewing gum that could help quit smoking. This may help

How to stop smoking for ever and ever help? -
i want to quit smoking can anyone help me outit-s so ridiculously simple you won-t believe me mate ...... simply believe in the phenomenal power of the mind and tell yourself that nicotine is not addictive and that there will be no detox side affects from not having nicotine......... then each time your brain suggests you have another smoke simply tell yourself you don-t smoke.. repeatedly....... the nicotine exits your system within half an hour anyway...... so it-s not like it-s a long drawn out process to detox.... focus on believing that nicotine is not addictive and chew on celery sticks or carrot sticks when you want something to do with your hands.
it works..... and i smoked for 27 years at around 15 a day.
i tried numerous times to give up until i focused on the power of the mind........ if you think about it ......... if you tell yourself something often enough then you-ll eventually believe it.
so tell yourself nicotine isn-t addictive.
it isn-t.
believe it.
peace baby
?I think you can-t always stop and quit forever with only the mental power .. you need some good advice and something to read.. recently i found a blog quite interesting about how to stop and quit forever smoking! You can check out too .. http://www.stop-from-smoking.blogspot.com

S-all about self-disapline.
It-s so hard but you can-t do this if you-re not 100% wanting to stop.
When I was quitting, the hardest thing for me was -what do I do with my two smoking fingers now?- Which automatically made me want a cigarette.
Oh and being around other smokers, obviously.
There-s quite a few techniques though. Change your habits. Say when you want a cigarette, turn that into sports, and go for a fun for 15 minutes, the fact that you will find this running hard should make you see what effect smoking has on your body and may help you stop till you can run with no problems and just enjoy yourself.
Like someone else said, the nicotine patches can also be tried.
Or someone I know bought a fake cigarette basically. It-s like sucking through a chuppa chup stick after you have eaten the lolly. You are sucking through it but basically just getting the fresh air and not the smoke. Maybe it-s the withdrawl of the sucking motion that reminds you that you want another cigarette.
I hope this information helps you, and I hope that you manage to stop =]
Good luck.Diane,
There are many ways of quitting smoking. The methods might work for some but might not work for others. There are many stop smoking programs you might want to try e.g. Allen Carr-s stop smoking program, successfully stop smoking system by Lesley Huntley, etc. You might want to read those and try the methods. The system/program makes it easy for you to stop smoking because you know what to do step by step and concepts behind the steps.
However, if you want just to go cold turkey, then you need a strong will and some support from people around you. A good support from your friends and family. Otherwise, cold turkey won-t help you much.Well there are two factors you really have to conquer.....
i) the [maybe] comforting habit of putting a cigarette to your mouth as a past-time you obviously find pleasant and will have become habitual
ii) the physiological and pharmacological dependence on nicotine, which will inevitably lead to some pretty challenging withdrawal symptoms when no nicotine is supplied
? If the first one is particularly strong you could try herbal cigarettes as a bridge between smoking tobacco cigarettes and giving up altogether. But you really should not see that as a viable long-term alternative as you will still be filling your lungs with smoke of sorts, which is not good for the lungs.
? Taking a combined tincture of passionflower [Passiflora incarnata] extract and oat straw [Avena sativa] extract might help with some of the nicotine withdrawal symptoms....particularly anxiety [oat straw extract and passionflower extract ] and craving [passionflower extract]. You can buy these combined under the Bioforce label in Uk health shops.
Try that extract and if it is still difficult, for instance if you have been a hardened smoker for many years, then you could always resort to a nicotine patch throughout the day. But you will have to give those up eventually so it might be better to try and resist the urge to use patches, unless you are having a very stressful day. You might be able to get a prescription for these from your GP, which I think might be cheaper than buying them.
Above all else.................willpower and sheer determination to give up is what is really required. To help you here......make a note of how much money you would save a week from not smoking, then do the same for a month, a year and so on. Then write down what you could do with that money alternatively. Of course the real incentive should be your heath and well-being.
Good luck.
Be strong and resolute.I tried everything, from patches to electric cigarettes. I had smoked for 50 years and was getting through 75 grammes a week of rolling tobacco. A friend recommended a book Alan Carr-s easy way to stop smoking. I bought it and while reading it laughed at my own stupidity for buying it. How can a book stop you smoking. Until the last page it tells you not to stop yet. I finished the book , finished my last cigarette and have not smoked for about two and a half years. You can get it off Amazon.

You have nothing to lose but the cost and smell of the tobacco.Yes. You need to pick a quit date first of all. Make it in a week or two. Decide how you want to quit. I don-t recommend cold turkey. Nicotine gum is the best in my opinion. Start replacing cigarettes with the gum and cut down cigarettes to nil by your quit date. Celebrate quitting.
If you live in the UK, I strongly recommend asking the NHS for help. They keep you on track by making you breathe into a tube every week which can tell them if you-ve cheated or not - so it really gives you incentive. This is what worked for me, and I used to smoke about one and a half packs of tobacco per day.
Get some high grade marijuana, and smoke on it constantly for about two days. You will be less effected by the withdrawl of nicotine, and it will be easier.
I never got into smoking again. You really have to be mentally ready before you do anything.
I quit in January and despite the odd lapse (which made me physically sick), I am definitely a nonsmoker now.
EFT and hypnosis were both contributors for me quitting, even though I didn-t think it was those which helped me at the time.
The rest comes naturally.
Try the following for EFT. It may feel and look weird but stick at it, it DOES work.

Al the best.Check out a Christian 12-step addiction recovery group. Ask a Baptist church where there is a group like this near you. Prayer can be helpful. God can help you live a better life if you want Him to. You can have a personal relationship with God by saying the prayer below. God is our Creator, all-knowing, all-powerful, eternal, holy, love. God loves us and sent us His Son, Jesus Christ, so we can go to heaven if we know and follow Him. Forever means without end -- time on and on without death. Forever is what happens after we die. Either we go to heaven and be with God forever, or we go to hell which is very bad and painful forever. The good people who are saved believers in Jesus Christ go to heaven. The bad people go to hell. We need to know and follow God in this world to get to heaven in the next world. We follow God by loving and obeying Him and loving others for Him. Jesus Christ, God-s Son, is our bridge to God. Jesus died on the cross to cancel our sins. We need to accept Jesus into our life as our Lord and Savior forever to receive God-s blessing and forgiveness plus go to heaven to be with God forever after we die. This is about being a born-again Christian. Faith in God is a gift from God. You can pray for faith in God. Just speak out and ask God for the faith to believe in Him and to follow Him. Some people find faith in God when they realize the beauty in the world is made by God. Evolution can-t explain the world-s natural beauty, for example, the parks in the world, animals, flowers, peacocks, sunsets, butterflies, rainbows, etc. After you have your faith on, you can pray a sinner-s prayer to be a born-again Christian. This prayer is very important and should be said with a sincere heart and faith in God. This is the prayer: -Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and that Jesus Christ is the sacrifice for our sins. I have done the following sins (state these out) and I pray to discontinue these sins. I pray to receive Jesus Christ into my life as my Lord and Savior forever. In Jesus- name, amen.- I-m Lutheran and I like the Baptist churches too. You could try out a Christian church and also see about their weekly Bible study group to learn about God-s will for your life. You can pray to God about your daily life and have a Christian church pray for you.I have not smoked in 8 days
