What are the effects of smoking on an ashtma patience??how do i make my friend stop smoking? -

he is suffering from asthma but still smokes a lot..If he smokes even though he has asthma, you should let him. I doubt he is under the delusion that smoking is good for him. Just mind your own business.Well, for a start, he needs to tell you why he doesn-t want to live long.
The second thing he needs to do is listen to you when you tell him to stop smoking.
Smoking is dangerous in healthy people, so just imagine how extreme this is.
Many people who smoke do not give up until they get a huge scare and find they can-t breathe. This is where it gets really scary.
The patient is taken by ambulance to the hospital. On the way the paramedic is doing everything possible to restore respiration to a state where the patient makes it to the hospital without having a cardiac arrest or total respiratory failure and is pronounced DOA at the emergency room.
If the patient is lucky enough to survive, the doctor will go absolutely ape if he finds out smoking is involved.
Tell your friend you care and you really wish the smoking would stop before it kills.People who suffer from asthma are at risk for more respiratory illness and events than those who do not have asthma (and indeed those with asthma who do not smoke).

The thing with smokers is that each and everyone of them knows the risks of smoking whether they have any other illnesses or not. The decision to stop smoking is a personal one, and no matter how much anyone else nags and pressures them to give up, only when they are ready to give up will they do so and succeed.

You could try letting them know about some fantastic smoking cessation possibilities such as hypnotherapy or alan carrs easy way to stop smoking.

Let them know you care about them and that when they are ready to quit, you will support them, but do not pressure them, it only makes them smoke more. Remember it-s an addiction and a habit and if they are not yet in the frame of mind to give up, they will not.smoking is bad for everybody and for a asthmatic person it can cause lots of problems...here are few links for affective way to treat asthma..I get the impression your friend doesn-t care too much about his own health to be smoking with asthma. You cannot help him if he does not want it, he has to want it first. If the time comes, I recommend Champix. It worked for me.Very limited life expectancy. You can-t!

also apparently nicotine gum helps a lot. Either way, its still not exactly -easy-!sounds corny but i went to a meeting, like a program with other peopleI was really sick for like 3 weeks and smoking made it worse. So I stopped smoking thinking I would start again when I got better but when the time came I told myself, -Well, I-ve gone this long without one so I think I can do it this time.-

I was a heavy smoker for the past 14 years. I-ve haven-t smoked in almost 4 months now, and now I have started running to keep myself from starting again........

Everyone has their own story and everyone is different with what works for them. Keep trying and don-t give up!Easy way?? No. Nicotine is one of the most addicting substances in the world, it-s ranked up there with heroin. A few things that I know that have worked for people is
-Pick a date and stick to it. Pick the date randomly.
-Stay away from alcohol, a lot of people smoke when they drink
-The patch, any pharmacist could help you pick one depending on how long you-ve smoked and how much you smoke.
-You can look online at The American Cancer Socitey or any cigarette website would have a link.
Good luck!!!I will tell you that psychologically, once you have officially not smoked for 21 days, your BODY is no longer addicted, and that may help convince your mind that it does not need it. 21 days, free yourself!!not easy....the patch or gum seem to help someThe best way is to stick it out with a strong self control! You made the choice to quit! Go for it!!!:You could throw your cigarettes away
or
you could get prescription for new medication CHANTIX which is very effectivejust try over the counter stuff.

that-s really all you can doJust stop. There is a new prescription Medicin that has a very high success rate. Ask your MD about it.

Chantix is the name of the drug.Just make up your mind and DO IT !! Be proud to say. -No Thank you, I don-t smoke.- My husband nad I both quit cold turkey, The cravings go away in two weeks. If you can-t, try a hypnotist. Good Luck, and Be Strong!! You can do it!! I Know you can!! :D

i picked up smoking again when i went out of town. now its everyday. whats a good way to resist the urgesSorry to hear that...! Try flavored toothpicks or sugarless gum drops every time you get the urge...worked for me! Good Luck...:O)Its the brain receptors that have been programmed to crave nicotine. It is quite hard to completely block those receptors.

Its best to you use help like medication or patches etc to help you stay quit for ever. Why do you want to quit? Aren-t you enjoying it?

What helped you quit before?
