I haven-t smoked for about a month but its all I can think about ... any suggestions? Things I used to find fun like playing xbox or listening to music just isn-t the same anymore :(....You have to give it more time, after two or three more months you will feel not only back to normal, but better and more able to enjoy life than ever before. But while the drug is leaving your system and you are dealing psychologically with not smoking it anymore, you are not going to feel 100%.First, cannabis is NOT addictive, so rehab is a waste of money, period. What you are missing is the good feelings and time will take care of this. As far as your age is concerned, nobody is to old to enjoy a little weed every now and again. It appears that you haven-t really decided that you want to quit and it maybe more of a reverse peer pressure thing (judging from your comment -and i-m 22 so I don-t think its the -cool thing to do- I honestly quit because I feel im getting too old for it.-
Decide what you really want and quit for the right reason. ...honestly quit because you feel you-re getting too old sounds a bit superficial. Hang in there and you-ll do fine.okay, first of all yes they don-t have rehab for weed. Second if you really like it why are you quiting?... because your getting old...? People of all ages smoke marijuana. If you like smoking it shouldn-t be a matter of you think your to old for it.. All I-m saying is that If you like doing it keep in doing it. Find some friend-s that like doing it. You-re probably don-t want to do it anymore because you-re doing it by yourself.I get where your coming from. You get to the age where youre suddenly like -wow, Im not 14 anymore, getting high just isnt as fun as it was...-
Do all that you can to NOT think about it. If your hanging with friends, tell them your not into smoking weed anymore and make them smoke elsewhere. Dont let them hot box your car or roll joints in your presence. Seeing it will only make you want it more.
Try keeping yourself busy at times when you-d usualy light up. I-ve heard that excersise helps get your mind off habits. Try going for a run every day. You can do it!People are seriously suggesting rehab? Wow, that-d be a complete waste of $$. If you insist on quitting, make sure to tell all your buddies. If you have friends who you-d hang out with JUST to smoke pot, try making some cool new sober amigos. I think when I finally decide to lay off herb I-ll do everything I can to convince myself that it-s not worth the money. I can see now that drugs take up like 40% of my cash but I-m not trying to quit yet. Everyone opens their eyes when they-re ready :)You gotta want to quit. That may be hard when it-s so widely glamourized. Your body is a temple - you should treat it as such. Your friends will make it difficuly as well. Remember users are losers - just say no. No one ever died without marijuana - therefore it-s not necessary. Think of all the money you will save. Find a new hobby that interests you. Hope this helps - good luck! You don-t need pot for a crutch.
Duse why stop, smoke up enjoy the high. Life is to short to stay sober. so fire up a fattie and relax about it.I think there-s an easy solution. If life is worse without pot, why don-t you just smoke pot againDont bye any and you cant smoke itrehabNeed help to stop smoking pot? -

weight gain is a typical side effect of smoking cessation, this is because of the oral fixation. You can avoid weight gain by increasing your awareness of what you eat and when while you are in the process of quitting. I used alot of sugarless gums and candies when I quit, three years ago and did not gain an ounce.my dad didnt but my mum didIf you like food a lot, you will probably gain a lot of weight. If you don-t like eating, you probably won-t gain much.
That sounds really simple, but it-s trueI ALWAYS lose weight when I quit smoking. I am anxious and do not have smokes to calm me down, so I am constantly moving around, walking, pacing, doing stuff to keep myself occupied. Every time you want a smoke, chug a glass of water. It kills the craving and also healthy! Good luck!yeah u will gain some more weight because u would want to substitute something for that cigarette. so u would probaly eat more.Is it not far better to quit this deadly habit and gain a few lbs rather than be another cancer statistic ?
Remember smoking kills, I have witness a neighbour suffer for 10 years going back and forth to hospital having chemotherapy for cancer which spread from his throat to his chest and lungs. It was so sad to see this man suffer this way. He had smoked all of his life, since his teens.
It might be hard to quit, but think about your health. Life is to precious to take that risk. Try to quit asap.yes you will gain some weight. the reason being smoking thins your blood and your heart pumps faster which speeds up your metabolism which burns more calories. also when you smoke you don-t eat as much or as often. so when you stop ou will gain weight but just give your body some time to get used to not smoking and your metabolism time to regulate itself againSometimes.
Smoking tends to blunt the taste buds and suppress the appetite, so you aren-t all that hungry in general and when you do eat, it doesn-t taste very good.
But the negligible weight gain you MIGHT get from quitting is absolutely preferable to the risks of continuing smoking.
Quit now. You can always exercise and lose some weight if you-re not dead from smoking. Besides, you-ll feel more like exercising once you quit punishing your lungs with cigarette tar and taxing your heart. But even if you don-t lose the weight, you-ll still be better off if you quit smoking. Some people do.... Its because nicotine reduces estrogen so you retain less water and also it reduces appetite. So when you stop smoking and your not getting the nicotine, you retain more water and you have more of an appetite. When we stop smoking, do we get fatter??iquest;iquest;? -

What REALLY worked for you?Well what i did initially was i used nicorette microtabs.i found them very good.with patches they just put a tiny bit of nicotine into your system but with the microtabs you get an actual hit of nicotine.i actually enjoyed them and it really broke the actual process of smoking.i gave them up about 2 months later which was much easier than giving up the actual smoking cause theres more factors involced in that.i was off them for 2 years when i slipped back into it again but have since given up again.i am off them since august again.this time i went cold turkey and the way i am thinking about it and i think is a very good thing to remember.when you get a craving think that it will be easier in the long run to say no.if you give in youre back to square one and you-ll be kicking yourself.its tough but if you say no its much more benficial in the long run.also remember theres a difference between physical cravings and mental cravings.look into that aswell.and cravings of any form go away.they dont linger for too long.best of luck to you.if you want to ask anymore email me.take carewell my dad he just stopped buying it never went to the store just stayed home and then work kept himself busy all the time so he woludnt get the urge.I did but went right back to it because I like the taste. The best thing to do is keep your mind off of it. Do a lot of stress free work, ie)excercise, go out with friends, avoid bars and clubs for at least 2 weeks, because you would be tempted there. Drink lots of water, take naps in the day when you normally would get a cigarette. Carry 5 different flavored packs of gum and chew on a different one everytime you get the urge. Last but not least wash your clothing with a fabricant to get the smell out so you dont feel the need to smoke. My grandmother had a heart attack and she quit cold turkey. Soon after-my grandaddy quit-he used a nicotine patch. I quit because I got pregnant. If you don-t want to quit-you never will. My mom quit too-while my dad was out of town-because he didn-t want to quit-it made it hard for her. He went out of town to work for a month and she was able to quit while he was gone. She has not smoked since-he still does.I was stupid in high school and college and smoked a bit. It was a way to -fit in- I guess. One day (December 28th, 1997), I was smoking a cigarette at work and I just didn-t like it. There was something about it that tasted wrong.
So, I decided right then and there that it was going to be my last one. I just stopped. I decided it was my New Year-s Resolution. Since then I have not smoked one (or anything else).
Sure I get cravings still after 10 years. But someone said once that even after a cigarette, that stress will still be there. Now I can smell it on everyone. It smells gross to me but then again the cravings are still there.Tried many times over 30 years, longest was 4 years, shortest was 3 hours, What finally worked for me was a prescription drug called Welbutrin (Zyban)
You eat these pills and can smoke at the same time, after about 2 weeks, taking a drag on a cigarette is just as satisfying as sucking on a peice of chalk, by the end of a month, you don-t feel like smoking, and you don-t get the cravings, Physical or Psychological.
It-s worth the price to try for a month, (About $100 in Canada)
Ask your doctor

So I had quit smoking a month ago. From the end of the first week till now my throat has been killing me. I was just wondering what all this is about because with my throat hurting his badly its hard to swallow sometimes. I think it is hurting right by my tonsils.See a doctor.it might not be smoking? it sounds like you have strep throat to me.Probably should see a doctor. It-s likely not from not smoking. Good for you for quitting...keep it up!You may have Sore throat
Sore throat is an all too common symptom of health problems ranging from colds and flu to strep throat and tonsillitis.
Basically, a sore throat is an irritation, inflammation (swelling), or infection of the lining of your throat. The main symptom of a sore throat is pain or a raw feeling in your throat, especially when you swallow. You may also have a fever and feel generally tired and sick. The lymph nodes in your neck may be swollen as well. You may hear people refer to this as -swollen glands.-
Causes sore throat:
Smoking, breathing very dry air, and cheering loudly or yelling are examples of irritants that can cause you to get a sore throat. Sore throats caused by smoking, dry air, or yelling will go away on their own once you give your throat a rest (and drink plenty of water!).
A virus, such as the common cold, or a bacterial infection, such as strep throat, can also cause sore throat. A viral sore throat will go away on its own. Sore throats caused by bacteria should be treated.
Prevent sore throats:
Don-t smoke, and use a humidifier if the air in your home is very dry.
Drink plenty of water, eat nutritious food, get enough sleep, and wash your hands often to reduce the chances of catching a cold or strep throat.
If your throat does not start to feel better after a day or two, see your health professional. Why would my throat hurt for a month after I stopped smoking? -
