Stopping smoking? -
Does anyone know if hypnosis really works to help people quit smoking? Has anyone had this done to them? If so, did it work for you, what was it like, and how many sessions did it take?It does work, but it is not immediate. It takes some time but the results postive. This was a good article about it. Good Luck!I suggest cold turkey.
I heard many success stories and would love to try it myself, been struggling for many years! My brother-law tried it . It didn-t work. I quit June 1st. of this year, after smoking for 27 years. Don-t buy them and refuse to let yourself be a bumb.It is not all that hard if you really want to quit. This method works for me and is the only money back guaranteed.
I quit smoking 2 years ago
Get the Facts
Easyway, founded by Allen Carr in 1983, has the highest independently verified 12-month success rate (75.8% for a smoker completing the program) of any quit smoking technique and a 90% satisfaction rating.
Compare Easyway to other methods and see for yourself why Easyway is called “The Cadillac of quit smoking methods.”
The Allen Carr Method
HOW THE METHOD WORKS
Using psychotherapy, the method works in the opposite way to the “willpower” method. It does not concentrate on the reasons the smoker should not smoke : the money, the slavery, the health risks and the stigma. Smokers know all that already. Instead it focuses on why smokers continue to smoke in spite of the obvious disadvantages.
It is fear that keeps smokers hooked!
Fear the smoker will have to give up their pleasure or crutch. Fear the smoker will be unable to enjoy life or handle stress. Fear the smoker will have to go through an awful trauma to get free. Fear the smoker will never get completely free from the craving.
The Method removes these fears
Smokers quit with the Allen Carr Method as happy non-smokers, not feeling deprived but with a huge sense of relief and elation that they have finally achieved what they always wanted….
TO BE FREE!
What about the terrible withdrawal pangs from nicotine?
The physical withdrawal from nicotine is so slight that most smokers don’t realise that they are addicts. What smokers suffer when they try and quit using other methods is the misery and depression caused by the belief that they are being deprived of a pleasure or a crutch.
The Allen Carr Method removes this feeling of deprivation.
It removes the need and desire to smoke. Once the smoker is in the right frame of mind and they follow the simple instructions, the physical withdrawal from nicotine is hardly noticeable.
No Gimmicks!
The Method does not use any gimmicks, useless aids or substitutes. No nicotine gum, patches, lozenges, tabs, inhilators or nasal sprays! No needles! No lasers! No drugs! No herbs! No shock treatment!
The Allen Carr Method is successful because:
It removes the smokers’ conflict of will.
There are no bad withdrawal pangs.
It is instantaneous and easy.
It is equally effective for long-term heavy smokers and light smokers.
You need not gain weight.
You will not miss smoking.
Medical Endorsements
A personal view from Professor Judith Mackay MBE, JP, FRCO (Edin), FRCP (Lon), World Health Organisation Advisory Panel on Tobacco and Health
“I have no hesitation in supporting Allen Carr’s work. Many clinics use some of his techniques but it would appear that few do it in quite such a successful package.”
Carole Johnson, Coronary Heart Disease Prevention Unit, Tyne Tees
“his success rate was such that, when budgets allow, we continue to use Easyway for work with specific groups and individuals.”
Dr Anil Visa BSc, MBBch., FRCA, Consultant – Royal Hospitals NHS Trust – Royal London Hospital
“I have observed the Allen Carr method at first hand and have found it to be very successful and I wholeheartedly support it as an effective way to quit smoking.”
Dr William Green, Head of Psychiatric Dept, Matilda Hospital, Hong Kong
“It is a remarkable fact that Allen Carr, on his own admission a non-professional in behaviour modification, should have succeeded where countless psychologists and psychiatrists holding postgraduate qualifications have failed, in formulating a simple and effective way to stop smoking.”
Dr Martin Jarvis, Principle Scientist, Imperial Cancer Research
Fund and Reader in Health Psychology, University College London
”...I am more than happy to testify to Allen Carr’s enduring involvement and to recognise the value of the kind of behavioural and cognitive support he provides.”
Dr PM Bray MB CH.b., MRCGP
“I was really impressed by the method. In spite of the Allen Carr organisation’s success and fame, there were no gimmicks and the professional approach was something a GP could readily respect. I would be happy to give a medical endorsement of the method to anyone.”
Celebrity Endorsements
-His method is absolutely unique, removing the dependence on cigarettes, while you are actually smoking. I’m pleased to say it has worked for many of my friends and staff.”
Sir Richard Branson
“Some friends of mine who had stopped using Allen Carr’s method suggested I tried it. I did. It was such a revelation that instantly I was freed from my addiction. Like those friends of mine, I found it not only easy but unbelievably enjoyable to stay stopped.”
Sir Anthony Hopkins
GOOD LUCKit probaly would work but i think its smarter to stop on ur ownset a date and stick to it, i chewed alot of gum and drank lots of water, after the first three days my cravings were allmost gone!! first three days are hard!!! just dont smokemost of those things are placebos meaning that they are tricking you and your mind into stopping. it might be easier but you still can make your-self stop by your self. I know several people who smoked and most of them stopped by themselves but the ones who did hypnosis and the patch and stuff were back to smoking within a couple of weeks. you could come up with a system. what is your favorite thing (besides smoking) and pick an amount of time a day, two days or week and if you get through that time without smoking treat yourself. that way you can enjoy stopping instead of always thinking -i wish I had a cigarette- think -I-ll be fine because if I don-t smoke I can do... (whatever you like except smoke of course :p)- I really hope that this helps you out!Pay a visit to

Cold turkey and self control. I did it.I went with the laser to quit smoking, it-s been 9 years now. My Father did the same 5 years before that. It was very effective, never gained an ounce because they gave me extra shots for that and irritability. You have to be ready to quit though. Two people who went with me were unsuccessful. I had chest pains and was very afraid, they also recommended I take B complex vitamins, which I was already on.
Give it a try, contrary to what people are saying, they have obviously never tried it, go for it and start breathing and tasting again!Diet and exercize, you can-t walk a mile if your trying to smoke a cigarette.
How the hell are you gonna laser weight or smoking off of you?neither just go to a counseler or group therapy don-t do that stuffHow is a laser supposed to help you stop smoking and lose weight?Suicide...As a pharmacist-and someone who has succesfully quit smoking-I would strongly recommend a prescription drfug called Wellbutrin along with nicotine patches. The patches supply the nicotine, and the Wellbutrin reduces the cravings. It-s the best combination I know of, and recommend it to all me patients who want to stop smoking. Good luck! SteveI am glad to know that you wish to quit smoking. Please remember that tobacco is a very dangerous substance on earth. The God has created this plant for medicinal use but people around the globe have taken it in a different way for their own pleasure and intoxication. When you smoke, the tar enters your lungs and keeps accumulating there like plague. In a long run, it blocks the veins and reduces the passage to accommodate more oxygen into your lungs and you can suffer from short of breath. The bad effect of smoking is well known factors for many kinds of cancers and other diseases. In the first place, I must say that you are inviting biggest trouble by wasting your money, time and health. It affects others in the family also. Please be away from such bad habits and live your precious life gifted to you by the Almighty by doing some good deed in life. Be a proud child to your patents and Society in general. The animals know the bad effect of tobacco and hence never ever enter a tobacco field to graze. You will never find the animals eating tobacco leaves in tobacco field. I smoked for 25 years and stopped the bad habits in one day without looking back. Now, I enjoy a healthy and stressful life. The money spent on smoking is also saved. My family is very happy now and they are really proud of me.
To reduce weight, cut down on your calory intake and shift to vegerarian food if you can and see the difference. After the change of style, it would be easier to shed weight. Take care and be in good health.I agree with the Pharm. Welbutrin a.k.a Zyban is an antidepressant with anti-craving benefits. Plus one of its side effects is weight loss.
(Plus it does not have the sexual side effects of other antidepressants like Prozac.)
I have read people who use the patch have a much higher success rate of quitting than people who don-t. Plus the patch is there with you all day, even when you wake up.
The other two things I would add are a support group/ number. Some insurance will hook you up with one.
Plus a daily affirmation. On a piece of scrap paper, every day write exactly: -I am a thin nonsmoker.- Write it 15 times. Pay attention while you write it. Don-t do it with the TV on, or where other people distract you. You don-t have to believe it, just do it.
Affirmations can strangely use the -rut- machinery to create positive forces in our lives to replace the negative ones. So it is important to use them properly. Make sure to use present tense...like -I am-, not -I want-...Phrase it in such a way that all words are positive, if you have to use -no- or -not- you need to re phrase it.
I.e. This is wrong: -I want to not need anyone-
This is better: -I am self reliant-

Is it true that if i stopped smoking,I would get fat? -
Is it true that if i stopped smoking,I would get fat? -
No it isn-t true. However, smoking does affect metabolism and the taste of food. You may have an increased appetite after quitting and may gain afew pounds. In the end it is your choices with your diet that determines whether you get fat or not. I have been quit for 7 years. I gained about 6 pounds after quitting, and I was anorexic prior to quitting (not by choice, the anorexia) my appetite increased and I was actually able to eat after quitting and enjoyed food again. So I did not limit my intake and ate whatever. Smoking is a heck of a lot worse for you then gaining a few pounds. Just make it a whole new health regimen: Quit smoking and watch your diet and while you-re at it throw in some exercise. You will feel great! Good Luck.Only if you start smoking Food! Not fat but as you tend to nibble on things(biscuits, sweets etc) as a replacement you-d probably put on a bit and your metabolism is also a factor!yes because smoking suppresses your appetite hence stop smoking get hungry.Only if you substitute the ciggie for a biscuit.................thats what tends to happen.......some people swap the fags for food and your metabolism does slow down slighty when you stop smoking. You just have to make sure you don-t fall into the habbit of swaping one for the other.No... that-s a myth. Going on a diet or diet program, and then once its over you gain weight lolIt is true you enjoy your food more - it smells and tastes better and so you end up eating more. But that-s about it. Restricting your food is in your hands. You can exercise more and keep yourself trim.cigarettes have chemicals in them that are appetite suppressants and they also boost your metabolism. those are the good things they do and i dont really need to bother naming all of their cons. will you personally gain weight, i dont know, but people that i have known that didnt do any physical activity and ate non healthy foods did gain a little bit of weight. chances are if you are somewhat physically active and you eat healthy than no you probably wont.well, yes if you dont take care!!!!!!!!!first of all to stop it you should swim alot and always take in alot of coldwater then you wouldn-t be fat.
p.s it hard to stop smokingno thats ridiculous hunni! you are doing yourself more harm by smoking anyway such as:
getting lung, stomach, mouth and throat cancer,
losing your sense of smell,
emphysema (shortness of breath)
heart disease,
stained teeth and smelly breath
also it will cost you at least £2000 a year on ciggies!
so all the more reason to stop! No! Don-t listen to these old wives tales. No it is not true. There are millions of people who have stopped smoking, I know a few personally, and not gained a pound.Yup,I did,so got patches they seemed to help, hit the Gym,now I-m lookin Buff and no longer Cough Like Madge Simpsons sister lol.Quitting smoking is often connected with weight gain, usually because nicotine is an appetite suppressor and when you quit you put more things in your mouth that are food than before. Is it true that if i stopped smoking,I would get fat? -
