Any useful tips on how to stop smoking!!!? -
just things that worked for others might help me, i-ve only been stopped one day as i found out i-m pregnant. I don-t want to smoke but am finding it hard and i-m so grumpy.... please help lolIt all boils down to willpower. You have to REALLY want to give up, i smoked for 13 years and have been a non- smoker now for nearly two years.i didn-t use any aids such as nicotine patches or chewing gum as i didn-t want to become addicted to those!
I was really moody for the first few days, take one day at a time. they say the first three days are the hardest so once you have got over those it will gradually get easier
The cravings will be really strong but each craving only lasts about a minute, have a glass of water when you feel the urge to smoke then the craving should be gone by the time you-ve drank it. Don-t worry though because as the days go by the cravings will be few and far between.
Just keep telling yourself you are a non-smoker. thank god for non smoking in public places, that should make one thing easier.
Good luck, You can do it, BE POSITIVE...I use to be a heavy smoker and made many attempts to give them up but couldn-t then. The best thing to do is make up your mind and just stop cold turkey and don-t look back. I did just that 17 years ago and I hate the smell of cigarettes now. Thinking you want to give it up and not try, is a waste of time for you.. If you really want to give it up, do it now and be done with it. It gets easier as time goes by. Good luck.first congrats on the baby! second what helped me is Epson salt baths... it helps draw out the built up nicotine in your system.I would talk to the Doc to make sure it is safe for the baby tho....it would also help with swollen ankles ;-)If you need physical help do other things, like chew gum.
The best way to stay on a program is with support.
Get someone to join you and sign a pledge to not smoke, it is harder to break a commitment to others than to yourself.
Give yourself rewards for reaching goals and deadlines, such as, not smoking all day, you can have a treat; not smoking for one week you can buy something you like.
It doesn-t have to be a large reward, but you should do something for yourself that you can look forward to doing.
