ive been taking the champix tablets for 9 days,im still smoking 40 a day, i was under the impression id stop after a week, or at least have cut down, i feef as though they are a waste of time.has anyone else used champix.me my mom and sister are.
The first week you can smoke like you normally do! Trust me, cause it takes a while to get into your system and help you!
Here is an easy plan that helped me and my sister and mom!
you have to start out by:
Week 1: 40 are ok. perfectly fine.
Week 2: -5 cigarettes = 35
Week 3: same as # 2
Week 4: -5 more = 30
Week 5: Same as #4
Week 6: -5 more -25
Week 7: Same as #6
Week 8: Same as # 6
Then Go to CONTROL MODE!
Only pick certain hours and times of the days in the week to smoke.
*We choose 5 a day every other day!*
Week 9: -5 = 20
Get it?
:) GOOD LUCK!That-s Chantix .... I quit on Sept 5th ... and haven-t touched a cigarette since . I-m feeling lousy because my system is cleaning out . I cough a lot . I have COPD and needed to quit ... I-m honestly just beginning to breathe better .
I went from 50 cigarettes a day to 8 a day over a period of 2 1/2 years . I finally got sick of trying to cut back and quit cold turkey . I was crabby for over 2 weeks but I-ve been smoking for 45 years .
My doctor says i-ll be cleaning out for about a year . Truth is ,I wish I never smoked . Now I have to live with lung disease for the rest of my life . But I have now quit , have no desire to smoke and will be able to get as healthy as possible.
I hope you make it before you get lung disease ... good luck to you . It is not easy but it is worth it .the tablets are not going to make you stop, YOU are the only thing that will make you stop.
They are just there to help you.
I woke one morning coughing my guts up as usual, out in the cold for a smoke and thought what the hell am i doing to myself?, i-ve not smoked since and used lozenges to help with the cravingsYes
In some people it takes longer to work. Give it a chance. You may have to use for six months instead of three. See the section on their web site for people who keep smoking. And keep in mind this isn-t entirely automatic! Follow their instructions about dosage and smoking precisely. The pills just make it easier to stop smoking, they don-t *make* you stop doing it. You do that yourself. The nicotine replacement products only work in combination with willpower etc. I gave up 12 years ago from a 50 a day habit to zero overnight, with help from patches.patches work for me try themone of the withdrawl symptoms I got when I gave up was heart burn and acid refluxAnyone else trying to stop smoking? -

every time when i dont have a smoke i have a bad attiuide and i start to go nuts and its hard to controll so i was just wondering if i can get some ideas how can i stop smoking without having a attiuide?Four steps to quitting smoking
Pick a quit day
Choose a date within the next two or three weeks to quit. Having a deadline makes it easier to plan how you will handle the people, places and situations that make you want to smoke. Try to choose a time that is not particularly stressful. But don-t wait forever for the -perfect- day - pick a quit date now and work with it.
Chosen one or more proven quit-smoking methods
Your chances of success are greater if you combine quit methods like counselling, self-help guides, the patch and other medicines. Learn more about methods to help you quit smoking. Choose the methods that will work best for you. It also helps to:
List your reasons for quitting - health, family, money
Write down the things that can replace smoking: healthy alternatives like exercise, or a new hobby
Speak with friends, family, and colleagues who can give you support. Tell them about your plan to quit, so it feels more real to you
Start making the lifestyle changes that will support your plan - leave cigarettes at home when you go out, remove the ashtrays from your home
Consider joining a support group. Some people find it helpful to talk to others who are also trying to quit. Contact your provincial Lung Association to find a support group in your community.
Work your plan
It-s your quit date. Be firm that you won-t smoke.
Review your plan often. Knowing how you-re going to handle the urge to smoke will help you better cope with cravings
Avoid those people and situations where you will be tempted to smoke
Go for a walk instead of a smoke.
Find a hobby that keeps your hands and mind busy
Clean your teeth, your clothes, your house of that stale tobacco smell
Be positive. You are choosing to be smoke-free
Celebrate your success
Believe in yourself and your plan
Understand that it takes time to re-learn smoke-free habits
Remember, that quitting is a process, not an event
Though your recovery begins within hours of your last smoke, it takes at least three weeks to make a new habit. Don-t be discouraged if you slip. It-s part of the process. You are not a failure. Review your plan and ask yourself how you can do it differently next time.
Reward yourself
The one thing I read once is that your cravings only last about 3 minutes at a time 10-15 times the first couple of days. Each day gets easier.
Good luck mate!Hope you don-t have lung cancer.

I can-t get things -moving- in the morning until I-ve had my coffee and a smoke. When I stop smoking for a day or two, I get constipated.... nice, eh? What-s the story on coffee and cigarettes as a laxative?yes. this is actually my favorite laxative.
If you ever decide to quit smoking, you could substitute shredded wheat or whole grain bagels for the cigarettes. The effect isn-t as immediate, but you will poop eventually.It-s not that they combine, it-s that each works separately to get things moving. For coffee, it-s the oils, for the cigarette I think it-s the vasoconstrictor. So you end up with a synergistic effect.caffeine is a diuretic so it actually impedes proper bowel movements as it causes stool to be drier than normal. nicotine stimulates the bowls, so they both effect the process differently.
you need to get off of these stimulants. if you need to take them just for your body to function normally that-s a serious problem and will only get worst with time.I don-t know but it works!Caffeine is usually a laxative in and of itself for most people. Maybe the nicotine cocktail is just a psychological problem manifesting itself as a physical difficulty in your case? Have you tried a patch or something in place of the cigarettes - trying to -fool- yourself?Caffeine is a stimulant that will give you loose stools in large quantity. I don-t know about nicotine being a laxative but it has an adverse affect on the nervous system causing the jitters similar to caffeine-s.
Sandy :O)yes..well, caffeine a lone and nicotine alone acts like a laxative, put them together you get super laxative.I understand and feel your pain....
I quit smoking 4 months ago and it took forever for things to go back to normal...
And that is all I have on that subject.
Peace.Do you EAT cigarettes?i don-t know but it helps me. so i still do it.For some people these act as natural laxatives: Prunes / prune juice * Figs / fig juice* Molasses* Liquorice* Chocolate
* Coffee* Alcohol (within recommended limits!)* Spicy food / curry
Nope nothing mentioned about nicotine. Also you can frequent the GNC and see what they have.Do caffine and nicotine combine to form a laxatitve? -
