Are you trying to stop smoking? then read this!? -

I stopped smoking over 2 years ago now, and can honestly say it was much, much easier than I ever thought it would be. First of all, I read a book by Allan Carrs called - the easy way for women to stop smoking-. I got about half way through and suddenly it hit me, everything he said actually was true and made complete sense. I carried on reading til I finished the book, all the while thinking - -blimey, ieverything he says is true! I can do this- and when I finished that was it - I quit. And believe me when I say, you don-t really need willpower, or nicotine substitutes, as he makes you see smoking for what it really is. It-s not a stress reliver, or a crutch of somekind. If you want to give up, give the book a try, please!!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!I stopped smoking in 1999 without any problems, it wasn-t as bad as I thought it would be, although I didn-t use any nicotine replacements or how-to books. When I was completely cigarette free after 2 years I was convinced that I had definitely conquered the -evil weed-. Anyway, 4 years of being smoke free I started smoking again. Why? I don-t know. Out of the blue. Of course, all this hype that there is around about smoking did have a -helping hand- in starting me smoking. Probably if there wasn-t so much bad press about it I wouldn-t have started. Anyway, after smoking for a year, I stopped again for 6 months. Then started again, then stopped for about 10 months only to start again. It-s very good that you-ve stopped and I hope, for your sake, that you-ll stay smoke-free, however, I do think that there-s far to much press at the moment and a lot of pressure on smokers. Even when I didn-t smoke I NEVER persecuted smokers and I wasn-t one of those ex-smokers who act like coughing when going into a smoke filled place. I will not try that book because I-m not that bothered, I don-t consider smoking nowhere near as hazardous as they make it out like, because I believe there are other issues that are more important that the government should focus on. Well done, though!Every person is different and will use different methods to give up, for example my husband quit smoking without the aid of anything, as for me i need to know that something is helping me like a patch etc. Reading is a good substitute for not smoking anyway, so thats probably where the catch is.I started to read that book too. I got to page three then lit it up.Thats all very well, but didnt Allen Carr die of lung cancercoolit-s all up to your personality, the same way how stop smoking ad-s will help some people, and will be ignored by others. BTW, allen carr did die of lung cancer - because he smoked.

A general answer that actually works isn-t going to be found by anyone here; you must make the decision to quit. Bear in mind that this answer will be coming from another NORML advocate, but I-ll try not to be too biased. Simply put, marijuana is the least dangerous drug that you-re going to find. Alcohol and nicotine are far more addictive. So if you do decide to lay off the herb for good, just remember not to fall into the traps of the more lethal, and LEGAL substances. If you still want to move forward with your decision, then ask yourself some questions:

1) What is affecting you worst of all? The money being spent? Or, perhaps you are a student of some sort...in which case, your grades may possibly be slipping? If it is someway affecting the way you live your life, then decide what it-s hurting the worst. What is the most negative side effect you commonly experience? When you find the answers to these questions, then you can ask yourself:

2) -Can I handle myself if/when harder drugs are in the picture?- I-m not relating to marijuana being a gateway drug, which I think is a total pile of misinformed b/s, but there is an underlining fact that is undeniable - when you hang around a crowd that regularly smokes pot, you-re bound to run in to someone who dances with the harder chemicals. I-ve been down the road of hardcore drug addiction, my drug of choice was cocaine, and I suffered losses that would be incomprehensible to most people. Nevertheless, I blame my own collective ignorance for my former addiction, not pot. Free-will plays a far greater role in the whole -gateway- theory than pot does.

3) Lastly, when you-ve finally produced your primary reason for quitting: stick with it. Don-t abandon ALL of your friends that still occasionally get stoned, because they-re not wickedly evil people, but instead, hang out with them in public places - where smoking a huge doobie would probably be frowned upon.

Once again, you-re the only person in the world that can make the decision. Disregard everything that everyone says, including what I-m telling you right now, and make up your own mind why you should quit getting high. Also keep in mind that smoking pot is just as unhealthy, if not more, to your lungs than cigarette smoke. There are safe ways to consume marijuana without the harmful effects of burning it, but that-s an answer best left for another question.

Good luck, whatever you decide.that is true reality.

I hope it helps. Just remember, many people who quit smoking pot tend to miss the intoxicating effect, and will turn to legal alternatives like alcohol, psychiatric medications, etc. These can be doubly harmful to your health, so just watch out.

why in the world would any one want to quit smoking weed. i can give u plenty reasons to continue smoking but i would never try to deny any one the pleasures of wonderful mary jane. contact me if you would like to view some reasons why i and millions love lady jane.It shouldn-t be addictive, because it doesn-t have the additives like cigarettes do. It-s probably psychological, because I don-t crave weed the way I used to crave cigarettes.Quit - and don-t get around other people who are smoking it.i have been smoking skunk for 16 years now and the facts are that it sucks the life out of you. it is addictive i dont care what anyone says or i would have stopped for both financial and health reasons. drinking is not good advice as this damages your kidney, liver and pancreas and like my mum you could be dead in 10 years. also you should be aware that smoking weed can affect your fertility, something to keep in mind if you wants kids:) try to keep yourself occupied so your not thinking about it too much. the main thing you need is willpower!!!! good luckfind something else that is legal to help you cope with problems. try chocolate, yelling, punching a punching bag. and stop hanging around people who do smokechange your surroundings, stay away from people, places or things that remind you of weed. when you feel like blazing do something constructive to keep your mind off of it. you could also join a support groupTry taking Chantix , you would have to get a script from your doctor, but it helped me quit smoking ciggs.drink beer.....................
