Go to the website for the American Lung Association. They have a lot of information on different smoking cessation programs. Good for you for making this commitment to your health!First you have to control how many you smoke. Then keep track of how many you smoke so you can make the next step by subtracting 1 or 2 from your smoking routine. Then 2 or 3 days later do the same take away 1 or 2 until you get down to like 3,2,or 1 then just quit cold turkey. Stay away from smokers, any places where smokes will be for about a week or 2. Stay strong temptation is strong at the end of 2 weeks then once you beat 2 weeks you beat the addiction. You will realized how easy it was to quit smoking after quiting. The problem is that people think it is hard to quit before trying to quit is because of what is inside of smokes (chemicals) it is telling your brain it is hard to quit, but in reality it really isn-t. I did it this way and it has been since July 1993. I can walk into a smoky environment or watch other people smoke and say that disgusting. Believe me, I realized smoking does cover up your senses of smell, taste. You will see how much better food taste after quiting, and you will realized how smoke stinks even in clothes even after a bar or place where people smoke. They say after 7 years your lungs and heart will go back to normal but damaged has already been done to veins and organs. Good Luck. I smoked a pack to a pack and a half a day of Newport 100-s some of the strongest available. My boyfriend got sick out of nowhere one day and we decided to quit.I wasn-t wanting to really quit. but we went to Germany for vacation after about 5 days and once we landed we got off and lit one up we couldn-t handle it. (not recommended to try to fly while quitting) we came back home and we pinky promised each other to never ever touch them again and we haven-t. been smoke free almost a year and half. Now i don-t know about you but we are pot smokers as well and I noticed it helps when you quit to smoke nothing but joints because its a mind trick. every time you think you want a cig smoke a joint and it looks similar and taste better. We smoke more of it now but id rather smoke it all the time the smoke cigs. the first week sucks . you will be coughing up the most ungodly looking black ****. that lasts like a month of so till eventually you don-t wheeze at all and you don-t wake up in the mornings ritually coughing. (yes to all you anti weed people out there you can smoke tons and tons of pot and have perfect healthy clear lungs). I rarely cough. marijuana consumption blocks the cancer causing cells from forming in your body :] Oh yea i just read what the one guy said and remembered i couldnt taste food while i smoked. Yea i bake and cook all the time now i cant get enough of food (no im not fat) and i can smell **** now its great.get help in clinics and start a new hobby that you can do instead of smoking.,.... keep a busy life that will make it so that you dont need to smoke and you wont have the tie.. just keep reminding yourself that smoking will kill you if you continue itI just quit well about 45 days ago. I used Chantix. It is the best product I have used. You take a pill twice a day for a few months. They recommend 12 weeks but I only took mine for 4 weeks. I am not good at taking a pill everyday. It is not that hard and well worth it. You have to want it quit for it to work.

My husband has tried it and it did not work but he did not try to quit.
