My mum wont stop smoking help? -

my mum has an addiction to smoking. and as much i ask and plead she wont give up! i have tried everything and its not working. she knows it upsets me yet she still doesnt stop. what can i do?Tell her that dying from too much smoke inhalation is a very, very slow and painful death.

Tell her that if she loves you and cares for your well being, she should stop.

Also, it-s quite an expensive habit. But it-s even more expensive when she needs to be on Oxygen 24/7 and has to use the Nebulizer every few hours. She won-t be able to do the things she used to enjoy doing then because she will be so very short of breath.

*..*call kidshelpphone number and ask for answers.

How do i stop smoking? -

How do i stop smoking? -

i have been smoking for 11 years and i really need to stop.. i-ve quit several times in the past...but no longer than 9 months... i always pick it right back up... any tips on how to stop for good?first and foremost a man has no power of his own to fight any thing spiritual so many time people tend to think everything is just happening naturaly. You have tried your best why not try Jesus?By him all things are created and for him.He says in the BIBLE anything you ask in my name I will give YOU.Call on his name HE is there to help YOUdon-t buy cigarettesyeah, do you know how black your lungs are? If we go in your lungs, theres like tons of tar inside and you-re probably going to die of cancer.maybe its stress that makes you go back the need to relax is very important, if you want to stop you need to want it for your self and your healthamputate your handsSorry-I just quit for 110 days and gave in.I don-t know but I am affraid of the patch because it release nicotine into you and that is a higher risk of heart attack, so if you find a natural cure, please let me know. Im reddie add me to your contacts, please don-t for get me because I smoke heavy.just stopThe reason you have started smoking again is because you stopped for the wrong reasons. Maybe you thought it was better for your health or you needed to save money or it was more socially acceptable, but you didn.t stop because tou never want to smoke tobacco again.
I suggest you read Alan Carrs easy way to stop smoking and reread it until you are certain thay that you want to stop. Then stop. It worked for me and my friend and thousands of other people. Occasionally I get that memory nicotine pang thing but I KNOW I dont want a cigarette. You probably won-t. Eat or have chewing gum when ya fancy a fag.Just think of it as a switch inside your brain. If you don-t pick one up and light it, you can-t smoke it. Were you born smoking? No one is going to take a cig to your mouth so you can hit it... that is unless you play guitar on stage and ask someone to do it.Hey Tabby - Im 3 weeks into quitting, having smoked for 10 years. Im hating every minute of it to be honest, BUT I know its in my health-s best interest. Im hoping to start a family this year and the thought of smoking when Im pregnant (before I know Im pregnant that is, first few weeks) well, Id hate to do that. So, for my sake and my future kids skes Im quitting. My parents dont know I smoke and Im 26 but I know theyd be disappointed if they knew I was a slave to the evil weed.

To help me, Ive taken up cycling, riding into work every day and most eves at home too. Im also throwing myself into both my work and my hobby (I make greetings cards and scrapbook) to keep myself distracted. Just for now, Ive avoided going to smokey places like the pub etc, just to give me a head start. Ive not gotten patches / lozenges / anything like that, but if you feel you need the help then speak to a Pharmacist. above all, believe in yourself and youll get there eventually. If I can help further, pls let me know - we-re both in the same boat! Good luck chick xxnicotine patches they are pricy but they work. also try eating grapefruit and chew big red cinnamon gum all the time. Its like brushing your teeth then right after drinking orange juice. The flavor of the cigerette doesn-t blend well with the flavor of the gum or the grapfriut.I with you. Its hard. Very Hard.

9 Mos is a long time to quit I-m surprised you picked them back up....

The longest I have gone is 3 days...Good luck get some medical help maybe it will work for you
It did not for meThere is so much help for people trying to quit smoking, you don-t have to do it without support.
Do a search in a search engine for websites and tips plus you can try out NHS direct.
When your will power is low, think about your health and the people you love, do you really want to die of lung cancer and leave them behind?
You CAN do this, go for it and don-t look back!Try and find out if you have a local smoking cessation clinic, your local GP should know. Success rates seem to go up in group therapy.

All NRT is available both over the counter and on prescription in Scotland.

Perhaps try patches plus a more immediate form of NRT, I favour the insufflator. (A sort of mock cigarette that takes nicotine cartridges), You can if you like even use this with low dose patches.

Consider Zyban, it has a higher success rate that NRT, but does have more potential side effects. (It is prescription only)

Source(s):is Tabatha your name? If you like my husband Charlie and I will pray for you to have the strength to stop and not to desire any more cigarettes. We both smoked for years and now both of us have stopped?Go to your GP who will get you some help such as patches and chewing gum and a telephone support line.

You will feel immediate benefits from giving up smoking. Do it today!!!!

Good on you!!!well, you can-t really stop it COMPLETELY..
i suggest you better do something, like playing sports.

in that way, even little by little, you-ll forget your smoking.
You-ll be more focus on the sport your in esp. if that sport is your passion..

also, if your influences by your friends, stop hanging with them..you-ll get nothing good in them, and you-ll be in big trouble if your parents knew that your smoking, and maybe [[hoping not]] you-ll be hospital coz of smoking and worst in a rehabilitation center.if u realy want to quit than dont ask u know it how to quit .But u always started it back .its you ,your confidence, you deside yourself that i am winner. if it dont work than add few drops of water in your ashtray every morning and take deep smell if you can see the reasult ,every morning do it and you will quit. You have to accept the idea of never ever having another cigarette. When that thought is no longer frightening, you will be successful. If you quit for a short realistic period, like a month, then start smoking a little bit again for a week, then quit for another month, repeat, you can break your psychological dependence, which is the real problem.do not buy them do not bum them stay out of the pub for a while i quit 3 years ago but i still fancy one now and again usually when im extreamly drunk but im still quitGet the patchThere are several methods. Nicotine replacement therapy is probably the best way to go since it will lessen withdrawal symptoms.

Would you say that you are -orally fixated-? By that I mean that is just having the cigarette in your mouth part of the -experience-? In that case I would ask your doctor for the Nicotrol inhaler. It-s basically a smokeless cigarette. My sister quit with this, and she would chew on the inhaler and everything; it-s obvious that smoking was an oral fixation for her.

However if you-re just feeling down and out without the nicotine in your system, there is the patch. The advantage to this is that you really don-t have to think about it. Just stick the patch on in the morning, and the best patch systems have different strengths so that you can slowly wean yourself from it. Plus, since the nicotine is being delivered through the skin, so you-re less likely to be tempted to smoke. The disadvantage to the patch is that some people with sensitive skin can get a rash from it.

Most doctors don-t recommend the gum because your stomach can get nice and upset from this, which will only stress you out more and send you back to smoking.

Basically, you want to set a quit date, within a time frame that-s comfortable for you (say Friday night if you don-t work weekends) and then switch exclusively to the nicotine replacement. It-s up to you to make sure that you gradually drop the dose of nicotine that you-re replacing.

Also, many doctors will suggest that you moderately exercise when you start having cravings. Let-s say, a speed walk. This will not only keep your mind off the cigarettes, but your body will produce dopamine which will help take the edge off. If you-re a social person, try quitting with someone else. Also, avoid alcohol. The -cookies and cream- effect of alcohol will make cravings worse.

Needless to say, I-m still trying to quit, and it-s rough. Just set aside the time, do the right thing, and I-m certain that you can succeed.I have been smoking for years, to many to count. I have tried countless times to quit. I have to quit smoking this week. I am not breathing well, coughing really badly, plus it is affecting my child.

Nicotine is more addictive than heroine. This a drug and it needs to be treated as a drug addiction. There a receptors in your brain that thrive off of the nicotine!!! And if you have just one after quitting the will wake up and remember what you smoked and scream for more.

You have the over-the-counter methods, there is wellbutrian (spelling), and the new drug Cistac(spelling). A lady I work with is using that now and it has seem to help her. I am going to use the patch, and on-line support.

The nicotine addiction is only a 3-5 day withdraw, the psychical habit is what has to be broken. Set up plans, get a support system.

I will be quiting with you!!!!My father in law, smoked 60 a day for 40 years and one day decided to just stop like that, he must have will power. He said he would stop for 2 years so his lungs would clean a bit then he would start again, as the weight was piling on. 4 months ago he suffered chest pains, where doctors saw a couple of arteries blocked to which he had unblocked and gave him a scare, he now says he will never touch a cigarette again. These chest pains saved him and so did the year and a half he had given up. Good luck to you.will power, its mind over matter

When you get your blood drawn at the doctors without a drug test, does marijuana show up? -

When you get your blood drawn at the doctors without a drug test, does marijuana show up? -

My friend is sick, and i told her to stop smoking weed a long time ago, but she still does it. she is worried she-ll be caught.take my word for it, i was in the military and had random drug tests all the time. being friends with the doctors that did the tests, here is what i learned. when you have your blood drawn they have to pay to check out certain things, for example, cholestrol, diseases....etc. to check for the presence of drugs they have to run certain tests on the blood. a doctors office wont pay the extra money to check this if they don-t have to. a court order can make them, but i wouldnt worry about it. unless she is a minor she has nothing to worry about anyways because of patient/doctor confidentiality laws. so in conclusion the answer is no. your friends mom i think can however ask the doctors to check for drugs, at her expense, if she is under 18If they are not testing for drugs it will not show up.No it will not. They have to run a drug screen to get those results. She has nothing to worry about.sure it will when they draw blood they typically screen the blood for anything, for proper diagnosisyesyes...it shows up in your test up to 1 month after you-ve smoked\inhaled it.who,s gonna catch her, a doctor? big deal, they cant do anything unless she is being court-ordered to provide a blood sample for a toxicology report. she should keep on puffinEven though its not a drug test, marijuana may trigger some other tests to go off. So, there is a possibility she may get caught.

If you can persuade me to stop smoking now you can have 10 points!? -

If you can persuade me to stop smoking now you can have 10 points!? -

Grow a backbone.

trying to pawn the responsibility onto random people you don-t even know on YA... sheesh. you know why to quit. just frigging do it.if you have asked the question then you have taken first steps of quitting . NO ONE in the world can PERSUADE you to stop , if YOU have not got the will power to stop you will always smoke and POSSIBLY have a STRONG chance of DIEING a slow crappy death . not to mention the poor health you will endure between now and then .Quite frankly you-ve probabally seen the pictures of lung cancer, oral cancer, The heart and the other disgusting pictures of what smoking does to the body.

You probabally understand the effect second hand smoking does to your loved ones in putting them at risk of the same diseases and their ability to care for you once you yourself get those diseases.

If you can-t persuade yourself what do you really expect us to do for you?Smoking can hook you because cigarettes contain nicotine which is highly addictive. But being hooked is not an excuse why you cannot quit smoking it just means you don-t have the motivation nor will power to stop yourself, like a fat person who can-t lose weight, because they are lazy. My friends always say they will quit but they end up smoking on weekends it makes them look so weak. They give themselves excuses to keep smoking -oh its the weekend- its because they really want to smoke. If your one of the weak people then keep giving yourself excuses not to quit, your only hurting yourself in the end but if you know your better than that, a stupid lil chemical stick is controlling your life, than prove you are better than it, even if it affects your social life in the end everyone who smokes around you will envy you. Smoking has been proven by several researches to be great threat to one-s health, that is why there is no reason why one who is already hooked to it should not quit smoking.

Why quit smoking?

There are at least five reasons why you should quit smoking.

* First, if you quit smoking, you will definitely live longer and better.

* Second, each time you smoke, you take about 5 to 20 minutes off your life. Your chance of getting lung cancer, stroke or heart attack increases if you don-t quit smoking.

* Third, the people you live with, especially the children, will be healthier only if you stop smoking. In fact, second hand smoke is more dangerous than the actual smoke users get from smoking.

* Fourth, if you quit smoking, you will have extra money to spend on other things than cigarettes.

* And lastly, if you’re pregnant, chances of having a healthier baby is more likely if you quit smoking.Ok if you don-t wanna quit nobody can persuade you but visit this site.

www.whyquit.org

It is a free site dedicated to helping quitters stay clean. I quit in January and this was a great help to me. You already know the negatives to smoking so there is no point of me listing cancer etc and you know there are zero positives. What you may not realise is that the first 3 days are the hardest and so if you can hold out that long it gets easier and easier. I feel great now, quitting was the best decision I ever made. I know I will always be an ex smoker so I have a higher risk of relapse than a never smoker but as the website says so long as I don-t take a puff today I will not relapse.

Be strong visit the site and go for it now. There is never a better time now is always the right time. I wish you the best and hope you go for it you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Good luckMy lovely second husband died from lung cancer at the age of 45.
By the time he stopped smoking (after a pneumonectomy) it was too late.
Does that put you off???
He lived 21 months after that and although a self employed graphic designer he refused a couple of lucrative offers to do with ads for tobacco companies! If you can-t persuade yourself, old son, there-s no point in our trying to.

Some people just can-t do it, which is a shame but there you are. I-m sorry if you-re in that situation because it reminds me of my own father who tried time and again to give it up and eventually died of lung cancer at the age of 63, having been vaguely unwell for years.

Do please try.Get an Empty Frame for a photograph . Next to it lies your pack of incense sticks ( cigarettes / cigar-s ) . Whenever you feel like smoking , look into the empty frame and see your picture stuck inside it . In 10 days time , you will have quit smoking for good .

If you are always on a move get a small frame that fits in your pocket . While travelling , you get an urge , remove the frame and stare into it .

The very best to you .One day my husband-s aunt was diagnosed with a Brain Tumor, she smokes 3 packs a day, one right after the other. Maybe I a 5 minute break in between. Do you know what the doctor told her. He said her LUNGS looked WORSE Than her BRAIN on a Good Day. And that if it wasn-t for the tumor in her brain, he-d rather replace her lungs. She is very thick headed and has suggested that we throw ciggarettes in her coffin but where she is going, she said she doesnt- need any -Matches-.It makes your breath, clothes and hair STINK. It costs you a fortune. You could be spending that money on buying nice things for yourself and having a better quality of life. If you carry on, your fingers will become nicotine-stained, and I don-t need to list the health implications, I-m sure you know all about those already.Every cigarette you smoke you loose 11 minutes of your life.Reducing the risk of getting life-threatening diseases like lung cancer
Reducing the risk of disability from chronic illness
Improving your general health so you get fewer colds and minor illnesses
Helping you to heal more quickly making medication work better
Reducing the risks associated with surgeryThe very next time you inhale, that-ll be the one that gives you cancer. So far you-ve gotten away with it - that-s just luck...the next one - you-ll die.Did you know that smoking is neuroprotective? You might get cancer, but you-ll NEVER get Parkinson-s.
