For all u ppl who used to smoke n have quit, wut r some way to gradually stop smoking? -
i want my bf 2 stop smoking n idk how to get him to quit, its so gross!I prayed for God to help me and he did.I actually took a class to quit stop smoking.I learned there are several ways which people become addicted:
1. chemical -the use of nicotene gum will help.
2. physical -Sucking on something when you are stressed or nervous...like a pen cap or cinnamon stick instead of a cigarette.
3. emotional (or something like that) Kinda goes with #2.
4. habitual -After dinner smoke, or -only when I drink- do something else instead...after dinner walk for example.Try this website for quit smoking help and information. Quit smoking can be a very stressful experience so you-ll need as much help as you can get.
Remember why you-re doing it! (Family, friends, general health)
Don-t give up and good luck!i smoked for years and i quit. it will be 2 years in october. the only thing i can tell you is HE-S got to want to quit. it-s not what you want for him. and gradually doesn-t work (at least for me it doesn-t). it just takes will power and lots of it. you should keep encouraging him to quit. tell him why you want him to. you never know, you may change his mind. good luck.try nicorettes..they worked for meYou are talking about cigarettes? :D
Moms smoked a lot, first she cut it down to one every half hour, then one every hour, and kept going like that.
Now if she craves too many, she does anything that she can do in water (can-t smoke if hands are wet). She takes extra baths and showers, washes dishes by hand, cleans things in the sink. She also makes a point of going to places where smoking is forbidden like the movies, stores, rides a bus...Good for you for caring enough about your bf to get him to stop.
I had no luck -gradually stopping-. Cold turkey is hard but necessary.
I had luck with Nicorette. You can also get a nicotine delivery system shaped liked a cigarette to satisfy that oral thing.
Gum (though it makes you hungry), carrot sticks, LOTS of water, and a support group all helped. It-s hard to do it alone.the first thing a person should do to quit smoking is to find out that he really want to quit or not it is all in his brain it is like a mind game you play., secondly try to minimize his smoking habit, thirdly as time goes by he will fill that he can control over himself a Little bit by bit. many ways to control yourself from smoking eg. do not bring your cigarette with you, chew gum or sweet if you feel like to smoke, don-t tell anybody if you try to quit, change your life style go for sport activity such as jogging or go to the gym. sometime he might fail but dun worry try again never give up, one day he can control himself over the cigarette just like me now.just remember as long as he really want to quit use what ever method I-m sure he success at the end. i know cause i been smoking for about 20+years i use this method and i can do it but almost took me one year to totally stop.try the Cooper/Clayton method. it-s the best at success!First of all he has to do it for himself or it won-t work. He has to be the one to decide enough is enough. They have patches, gum and a doctor can prescribe a pill if he wants to go that route. Good Luck and Blessings.I don-t know anyone who-s done it gradually without using very expensive -Nicorette- type products. I stopped cold turkey. Of course, I was pregnant and having awful morning sickness, and cigarettes made it worse (just for the record, I didn-t know I was pregnant at the time, but as soon as I found out I knew I-d never smoke again).
Hey, tell him you won-t kiss him until he stops smoking.I quit smokeless tobacco 3 years ago.
Go to your Dr. and get a perscription of Zyban. It is a brand name for Wellbutren. It is the only thing that worked for me after trying lots of times.
Be on the meds for at least a month befor quiting and try to stay on them for 5 months after quiting. Even if you feel you dont need to.i gave up giving upI used prescription drugs, but honey, I am sorry to say that it will not work unless he wants to quit. I quit 5 times, 4 times for others and 1 time for myself. Good luck!
