Is It because I stopped smoking? -
I stopped smoking a week ago and I am having shortness of breath. It is not a constant thing but sometimes throughout the day I experience it. It feels like I cannot take a complete breath. Is this normal or am I developing a chest infection? If you start to cough up mucus and your chest starts to hurt when u cough then its an infection. You may be getting a chest infection. I stopped smoking and did not get that. Go and get a check up. Increase your fluids (*water), have mulitvitamins. It is your lungs healing and dispelling all the tars and particulates that you inhaled as a smoker. You are starting to get some function in your lower lungs that have not functioned properly for some time. Cough up anything you can agressivly. It will speed up your healing. Way to go, nonsmoker!Your lungs are not used to breathing normally, and actually go thru a form of withdraw. Your blood vessels and lungs are already repairing themselves. If you ae not feeling better in another week or so I would call your doctor. It may be a broncial infection brought on by the shock to your lungs, if you did it cold turkey.First off , Way to go !! I have been smoke free for 2 months now.It was not as bad as I had myself believing.Secondly I smoked for 20 years and before i quit and for 3 weeks after I had that feeling .The thing to remember is now , no matter what you have given yourself a chance.Start slow with some cardio and maybe swim a couple times a week. You will soon start to notice a change in your breath and you will begin to sleep like you have not slept since before you started smoking..good luckIs It because I stopped smoking? -
