How to stop smoking??? Please ans asap? -

Justly never smoke.well, you just stop.
honestly, i used to be a heavy smoker...about 2 packets (marlboro) daily. then i had a wake up call.
instead of quitting immediately (which often results in failures), i cut down to 1 packet. - usually, i make it very inconvenient to smoke- e.g i put my cigs in the office, or distribute the remainder to other smokers.
so, when i have the urge, i will have to go out - buy another packet...gradually, you-ll smoke lesser - lesser....and before you realized it, you can quit smoking!Go to prison in California.do it as you like - stop immediatelysomeone asks this question every weekI quit a month ago and am going strong. Here-s what I have done:

I don-t hang out with any smokers anymore.

I don-t go to smoky places (e.g., bars).

Obviously, I-ve gotten rid of all smokes, ashtrays and other smoking paraphenalia from my house and life.

I quit drinking, too (we-ve all started up again after a few drinks).

Started drinking a lot of hot tea. Celestial Seasonings -tension tamer- works wonders.

The biggest key for me: exercize. Lots of it. I have really embraced my new hobby of cardio bike riding and weightlifting and I am loving it! Every day I bike I push myself a little harder-- trying to increase my stamina. Since I am so into this new hobby, I don-t smoke because I know smoking would interfere with it.

I also set a quit date 3 or 4 weeks in advance and stuck to it. It allowed me to get psyched up for it. Set your quit date for a day off from work (a weekend day). You don-t want to have to deal with work when you are going through the withdrawl and the crabbiness and spaceyness that accompanies it.

The first day was horrible, excruciating pain. But you survive. I took a really long sauna that day. It REALLY helps. Join a health club with a sauna. And you can totally afford it -- you-re throwing away 70-100 bucks a month on smokes; why not instead invest that money into your health?

It really is key to replace the smoking behaviour with something else-- again, some form of exercize is highly recommended. It also helps you break through those nicotene craving tension moments!

Quitting is hard, but each day after you quit it gets easier and easier. Think about all the rewards of being a nonsmoker. It-s totally worth the pain.

Ask yourself: who is in control of my life? Me-- or this stupid cancer-causing weed?

I wish you the best of luck! I hope myt suggestions are helpful. And remember: even if it doesn-t take this time around, there-s always next time. It-s always hard to quit, but each time it gets a little easier!JUST STOP SMOKINGFind your inner peace. Take a vaccation to any tropical island etc. If you go to church. ask your minister for a prayer. DO YOU REALLY HAVE THE DESIRE TO STOP. ?cold turkey it is the best way.
stick a picture of a cancerous lung on your table. it-ll make u think twice before lighting up another one.you can try the nicotine patchesI think you should go and have a picture of your lungs taken so you can see how black your lungs are and how bad they look and then start subtracting about 10 to 20 years off your life and then believe me you will stop smoking instantlyU SHOULD MENTALLY STRONG FOR THAT AND HONESTLY THINK ABOUT UR HEALTH. I HAD 15YRS SMOKING EXPERIENCE BUT TOTALLY QUIT RECENTLY. USE GUM TO ENGAGE UR MOUTH AT THE TIME OF SMOKING. DON-T TAKE ANY CIGER AFTER FOOD. JUST WAIT FOR AN HOUR. AND SLOW DOWN. AND COMPLETELY QUIT.I THINK U CAN U CAN U CAN... I KNOW U CAN.....

PLS DON-T FORGET TO INFORM U MY MSG HELP....See if you can find a Seventh Day Adventist church that offers a -Breathe Free- stop smoking workshop. Also, there is an herbal product called -Smoke Away- which works very well for some. I know of someone who used it. Besides that, make up your mind to do it even though you will suffer from withdrawal symptoms. The physical symptoms only last 21 days or so. After that the struggle is psychological. Of course, the American Cancer Society has lots of good info regarding smoking too. Be sure to surround yourself with people who support your decision to stop smoking and remember it-s not the end of the world if you slip up. Don-t quit until you quit! Take care, ButtercupI-m not a smoker but I sympathize - I-m a little bit of shopaholic and have a hard time with that. But anyway my brother quit for over a year now -he used a quit smoking program in his area - check your local Health Dept. or look up on the net for a smoking Gestation program in your area - He told me the program was very supportive and provided a counselor to talk it out with also they tried hypnotherapy techniques that he said really helped - after all addiction is just Matter over Mind -you have to gain control and turn it back to MIND Over MATTER - though if you doubt your strength and ability to do this you will not quit smoking - above all you have to believe in yourself - and dont listen to Nay- sayers who will say things like -you-ll smoke again or you cant quit- You have to be above that type of thinking- I would also recomend you read some books on possitive thinking - It helps to change old patterns of thinking in order to quit a habit - cause if you did quit but still thought the same way about smoking then you may start again without trying and youd be right back where you started. I know my brother said it was one of the biggest battles he ever experienced but it was worth it - he even quit drugs and alcohol too -I-m extremly proud of him - He did it and so can anyone if they want to bad enough - Just remember only you can control you so make the desicion to quit and commit to it - and do whatever you can in your power to quit and you will succeed. After all its just a cigarette (tabacco, and deadly toxins rolled into paper that kills your health) YOU DONT NEED IT !!!
Good luck to you and dont give up - you-ll make it and when you do -CELEBRATE!!!I dont think anyone has a good answer for you,but try this...seems to ease the craving if you quit already,Find NON-Smokers.with out the smokey air,u wont crave.with the people u chose that dont smoke, makes it easier to stay calm.doesnt mean get rid of your friends that do smoke, just try to stay out of that AIR area.helped?
