Stopped smoking a while back, and I only smoked for 6 months. If I CONTINUE to use nicotine patches for a long time, what are the long-term effects of continued nicotine usage?Nicotene increases the levels of a hormone called dopamine in the brain. Dopamine is involved with diseases like alzheimers and parkinson-s. There is some evidence that these diseases are more prevalent among smokers than non smokers.
