I quit over two years ago. I smoked a pack a day for 7 years. Here-s what I did; I bought my last pack of cigarettes and smoked them all. Accept one. And I carried that cigarette and a lighter with me for over a month.

I tried to quit a bunch of times and it never worked. Carrying a smoke reminded me that I could smoke anytime I wanted. I was CHOOSING not to.

The times I quit before I would be sitting around at home thinking, -Man, If I just had a cigarette.- Then a friend would come over and I-d bum one. It was pointless.

Carry one. It will help.Throw them in the garbage can. Don-t feel bad because it-s cigarettes, not food. A good way to stop smoking is to quit cold turkey. I don-t smoke, so I don-t know how difficult it really is to quit, but I do know that a lot of smokers have successfully kicked the habit with the help of Wellbutrin. My dad has gone almost two months without a cigarette and he was a former 2-pack a day chain-smoker. And he smoked for over 30 years! Wellbutrin was a godsend for him! My younger sister had started taking Wellbutrin for depression but quit the med after her heart started racing, and she gave the almost full bottle of pills to my dad. He took the Wellbutrin and still does; it doesn-t work for everybody, though. Just think about all the money you-ll save by giving up cigarettes. Do what most people do -- quit one vice, and adopt another, such as overeating or compulsive shopping. Just kidding about switching one vice for another. :) Good luck! Your lungs will thank you! Oh, and wash your clothes, air out the house, etc. because you-re going to notice a really strong smoke smell when you-ve been cigarrette-free for a few days or weeks and it-s not a pleasant smell! When I moved out of my parents house (my dad was a smoker), my sense of smell improved dramatically! Smokers (and people who live with them) cannot smell the smoke on their clothes or in the house. After awhile, you-ll be able to tell who smokes and who doesn-t because the smell is very, very strong. I can-t believe that I smelled that terribly of smoke and didn-t even realize it until I was in a smoke-free environment!Develop Lung Cancer. If that doesn-t make you stop, nothing will. More people die of Lung Cancer each year than prostate and breast cancer combined.

I-ve got acute asthma, and let me tell you there is nothing fun about losing lung capacity. I can-t even climb a flight of stairs without being seriously out of breath. I can-t run with my kids. I can-t walk long distances without losing breath.

And I didn-t CHOOSE to be that way.

I-ve had a lot of experience with people trying to quit smoking. No matter which method you try, it means squat if you-re not ready to take responsibility for your own actions against your body, and just QUIT.

So frankly the only good way to quit smoking is to just toss them, and deal with the cravings until your body is detoxed and your mind is free from the desire.

At least you have a choice.I quit with the patch.I used the generic ones.I knew what I was getting into because I quit before.I prepared myself ahead of time.First thing I did was rearrange my kitchen.(I sat in the same spot every morning for coffee and a smoke)I had to sit in a different spot. The patch helped me alot. When I got to the last step,I kept forgetting to put them on so I didnt hardly use the last ones.If you have cartons of cigarettes then sell them to someone and dont be around anyone who smokes and keep yourself occupied if you want to quit.Wean your self off of them. What ever your normal amount is take away one every couple of days eventually you won-t want them as much. it also helps to keep yourself busy even if that means singing or licking a lolly pop until the craving passes.
