How can i stop smoking when i want a baby? -
i tried and tried to stop smoking so that i can have a baby but its really hard..Take the five dollars you normally spend on a pack per day and put it in a jar. Think about it, by the time your kid goes to college you will have saved: $5 X 365 days X 18 years = $32,850. Not to mention that cigs will be much more than $5 soon because of infaltion. So you can use the money to help your child succeed or spend the money giving yourself cancer. That should be enough motivation to quit if you ask me.
And dont say -ill quit when i am ready- or -im trying to cut back-. Take that pack of cigarettes and crush it NOW. Let a friend hold your cash for you so that you cant break and buy another pack.if you really want a baby as bad as you sound- then you-d be WILLING to give up your cigerettes.....
good luck with your future family- i-ve always wanted one!go to your doctor and ask them to prescribe chantix .Try to get more information regarding some ways to stop smoking at my profile.Okay, I say this all the time, but the only way you will be able to quit smoking is if you truly want to. Even with the help of stop-smoking products, if you are not 100% committed to quitting, you never will.
However, if you are committed and have a good reason (a baby seems like a pretty good reason to me) then just stop. The withdrawal will be bad the first few days, but after a while, things will get better. If you really need to, slowly wean yourself off of the cigarettes. Smoke less and less every day until you are barely smoking at all. At this point, it should be much easier to quit.
Best of luck!i would not quit for nothing it would be just stupid because i enjoy it too muchHow can i stop smoking when i want a baby? -
Why canrsquo;t I stop smoking? -
Why canrsquo;t I stop smoking? -
My mother has lung disease and she is on a oxygen machine 24 hours a day. I started smoking when I was 15 and tried throughout the years to stop. I tried everything you could think of. My older sister (we are 16 years apart) was a smoker also but she quit when she was 30 years old. Finally when I was 31 years old I finally quit for good. The smell and though of a cigarette made me sick. I think it is a disgusting, nasty habit. When I stopped at 31 I had a few relapse but I was doing so well for quitting cold turkey. Then one night I went out with some friends and had a few beers and the next thing you know I was bumming cigarettes. Now every time I drink alcohol I crave cigarettes and eventually it gets the best of me and I end up buying a pack and smoking a lot when I am drinking. I don’t drink that much. I drink maybe 2 times a month. I recently when though a very stressful situation in which I though I was going to lose my job and the first thing I did was buy a pack of cigarettes. I am ashamed and terrified that I will go back to being a fulltime smoker. I am / was very proud of myself for quitting and I wanted my mother to see this and she did. When I do have a few cigarettes the next day I feel awful physically and mentally. My chest hurts and I am so upset that I gave in. I feel weak and guilty.
I want to stop 100%. I have even tried going out and telling all of my friends no matter what don’t let me smoke and I take straws and by the end of the night I smoke.
helpTricky, isn′t it? That-s happening because you are using cigarettes as a crutch. It-s your mind that is hooked on them, not your body, and this is a little tougher to deal with.
Do you know something? You must make up your mind, now. Focus on the thought that it-s you who has the power to decide what to do with your health. There is not a substance, person or thing on this earth that can subdue that power, the power of your will. Come to a decision today, and be firm. It-s you who calls the shots, it-s you who orders your body to walk to the store and buy them. It-s you who can break the cycle.
I know what i say, it took 3 attempts to finally quit, i always came up with a different excuse, the last was after i separated from my husband (-I need a cigarette, i can-t take this stress any longer...how am i going to deal with all this?...i must have a smoke now, i need it...-)until i realized what i just told you. You make the excuses, you don-t listen to your mind. Your body is already telling you to quit, now don-t be so self indulgent and quit. Nothing else to it, no medicine, no therapy, it-s you who has the final word.Greetings...and congrats on wanting to be smoke free full time. First thing you need to do is stop beating yourself up every time you slip. Nicotine is one of the most addictive drugs there is.
When I stopped I started a Yahoo group with extensive files,
links, news etc...attached that can answer any question you might have about smoking and quitting. Accurately. Feel free to have a look and regardless.......Take Care......R

The problem is you-re not ready to quit. Stress is a reason to smoke, drinking is a reason to smoke. It gets the best of you.
First, asking your friends to stop you is not a strategy because it-s not their problem, and they-re not doing it anyway.
Second, if drinking contributes to it getting the best of you, then stop drinking until you do not have that connection.
Third, you have full control, as long as you want to. So either don-t do it, or go on fighting a battle with smoking in the gray area between being a smoker and a non smoker. The thing is, the gray area is a fine line. Equate it to an alcoholic being able to drink -occasionally-.
Is that possible? Maybe. Is it likely? Probably not. So figure out what you want to do, figure out what triggers it, and either deal with the cravings or avoid the situations. Personally I found it easier to just deal with the situations such as being around smokers, and drinking with friends, and refusing to smoke. The association went away. But everyone is different, so that might not work for you.Don-t know what aids can help the cravings, but... You must have the will first, anything else is just to help you out.My heart goes out to you. Stopping smoking is, without a doubt, the hardest thing that I have ever done in my life. I started when I was 11. Most kids choke and stop and they certainly don-t inhale. I inhaled the smoke right away and loved it! Took to it like a fish in water. Lung disease also runs in my family. My mother smoked 4-6 packs a day! My father had empyszema. My brother also. They are now all dead from it. The last one died in 2004. I still did not stop. I probably smoked even more after that. I quit smoking on June 5, 2005. I have not had a cigarette since. I am sorry, I know you are not here to hear my story, but I think the point that I am trying to make is that no THING or PERSON is going to make you stop or even help you to stop. This is something you must do for yourself and by yourself. I had some help from a smokers anonymous 12-step group. It did help, but I had to institute the plan myself. I used to say -Ok, I really want a cigarette, but let me hold out for 5 minutes. If I still want it, I will have it then. Then it became 10 minutes, then 15, then an hour, then 2 hours and then a day. That was a huge accomplishment. Once you get a day or two under your belt, it seems like messing up the time you have worked so hard for is not something you are quick to do. Then it-s a week, then a month. See what I mean?? I am not saying that I don-t have cravings. I still think about them, but, now, its just a thought. When you are ready you will do it. Why not try the above method? Really, you have nothing to lose but diseased lungs, funky breath, smelly hair and not to mention the pissing away of lots of $$$$. Good Luck, you can do it!!!Sounds like you are determined to end up on an oxygen machine 24 hours a day.
In the Search for questions slot type in -quit smoking- and you will get at least 6,725 results.i quite myself a couple of times and its hard not to start back up again I was told when I have the urge to smoke get a patch and put it on some people like myself cannot be occasional smokers without starting back up so maybe getting a patch everytime you get the urge will keep you from getting a pack and because they are so expesive may give you the mental drive to just give it up because smokeing with your mother in the position she is in seems to be giving you an even greater reason to quite in honor of her and her life good luck I know its tuffWhy canrsquo;t I stop smoking? -
Hi there,l stopped smoking last Sunday and l am using the patches? -
Hi there,l stopped smoking last Sunday and l am using the patches? -
from the doctors and l am doing really well,Do you know how long to wait until l try for a baby,l already have a 7 year old and l would love to give my husband another baby. Thanks p.s l did not smoke with my first childi wouldnt advise getting pregnant while using the patches, if you were already pregnant, your doctor would not prescribe them for you as they still contain nicotine.
Keep going with the patches, and after you have stopped using them and quit for good, then start trying for the baby.
All the best, keep up the good work!
xxIsn-t it funny.....my mother smoked like a fiend when she was pregnant with not only my sisters (in the 40-s) but also me (in the 60-s) and we all came out ok.
ekk ack goop wah nee haa shurr doop tak.
Sorry, just having a fit. Nothing to worry about.
gack!I think you can start anytime, as long as you don-t smoke anymore, but check with the doctor.Ask your doctor if it would be safe having a baby with the patch. I am assuming the patch releases some nicotine to help you quit slowly. If that is the case, wait until your done. But, ask your doc because they know best and congrats on quitting smoking!Sorry I don-t know the answer to your question but I just wanted to say congrats on giving up smoking and good luck! Why not ask the doctor?? And congratulations for giving up that disgusting habit.Well done on the quitting!! Well proud of you. xEXCEllent Keep hanging in there It will make you breathe better!find out from the doctorThat-s a question I-d ask your doctor. I-ve taken the patch, but I don-t know whether or not it has any effect on an unborn child. Consult him first, then see what-s best for you and yours. Good for you to quit smoking, I-m on my way too!!!!Thats brill girl give yourself a major pat on the back , and dont give up. I would try now . It will give u something else to focus your mind on and be a damn good excuse not to start the habit againCongrats, good on you, wish i could do that, not that i am going to have a baby or anything like that, just need to give up smoking........you have done well... good luck.As soon as you are off the patch then you-ll be ready to het pregnant.Hi there,l stopped smoking last Sunday and l am using the patches? -

It takes away motivation. Sometimes it may lead to other drugs because the people you are exposed to that do that usually use other drugs and will offer it to you. It harms your lungs. Sometimes there are harmful drugs mixed in with the pot. You are considered intoxicated while high and driving and other activities can be dangerous. You do not care about normal things while using. Grades, jobs, marriages, parenting will suffer. It is a way of avoiding and not facing problems, and you can make bad decisions while using. Marijuana users will contest every fact I just told you to justify using it. Get high on life instead, it-s great!lmao, Epic fail from the top contributor Strength Coach. LMFAO.
Show me one case of lung cancer directly caused by marijuana smoke. A lot of people that have great jobs medicate with cannabis. Jeez, lol you can flip each reason he gave you not too.
If you need a legit reason then think about why you use it. Does it help you? Do you control it or does it control you? If you believe you will be better off and happier without it, then do it.
I had it medically prescribed to me, but I eventually decided I didnt need it anymore for my condition.
and to be honest, screw everything i said. It sounds like Mr. Strength coach knows it all. lmfao.
Good luck with you choice. ;)1. you dont want you lungs covered with a black charcoal type film
2. you dont want to be a complete loser
3. you dont want to get arrested
4. you want to save money
5. you will someday want to get a job that requires being a non-dumbassso your brain will start working againWhat are some legit reasons i should stop smoking marijuana? -
Need to stop smoking ciggs ? -
Need to stop smoking ciggs ? -
please let me know if anyone stoped smoking and can help me im only 20 and i have been smoking sence i was 16, I need to stop now before its way to late.. Please let me know the cheap way to stop. I do not have the money for all that good ****! lol THanks for your helpyes yes its hard to quit but it can be a mind over matter kind of thing and you can actually make money every day put the cig money in a jar and forget it......... before very long you can go on a shopping spree just think of all the cool non smelly clothes you can get and at todays cig prices it wont be long good luck i smoked for 35 years and got cancer, not clothesYou should talk to your doctor about this because the doctor can really give you some options. Also, the site below should help you out as well. It gives you a great understanding on why people cant stop, how to make a plan, etc.the Only thing i no is the longer you smoke the harder it gets
this seems a thing that has helped others get a jar put some butts in add water when you wont a cig take the lid off and smell that should put you off
you might think 4 years is a long time but it is not 27 years is a long time
good luckI heard that chewing gum when you feel like you need one helps. Also, you should stop hanging out with the people that got you started and throw away your cigsFirst, you actually have to want within yourself to quit. Knowing that its bad for your health or knowing you cant afford to smoke is not good enough. You really have to WANT to quit for it to work. Even having cancer wasnt enough for me. I had to be diagnosed a second time and be literally physically unable to smoke for about 12 weeks to quit.
There should be some sort of free smoking cessation class through your local health dept. Check it out.
Start keeping a smoking journal. Even before you start trying to quit, start the journal. Every time you smoke, write down the date and time, how many you smoked, WHY you smoked (bored, stressed, craving, just woke up, etc), what you were doing before and after, and how you felt before and after. If you start the journal while you are still smoking as you typically would, it can help you identify patterns that you may not have been aware of. And keeping the journal as you try to quit will help you hold yourself accountable. It has the same effect as a food diary for someone trying to modify their diet... If you smoke, you have to write it down, and having to write it down forces you to be conscious of it.
Remember that quitting is hard. If you mess up and have a cig, its not the end of the world. I mean, you shouldnt. But if you do, its NOT a reason to screw your whole effort and go back to smoking. I mean, would you quit flushing altogether because you forgot to once? Would you quit eating because you burnt dinner? Would you quit using the light because you accidently left it on? I think we all know the answer to those, so why on earth would you give up trying to quit if you mess up and have a cig? It sounds sooo common sense, but people have it in their mind that it has to be all or nothing and that if they screw up its over.
Have oral substitutes ready. Regular chewing gum is pretty cheep. I chew on my pen tops all the time. That kind of thing. However, try not to let yourself use food as the replacement. That will just make you gain weight and is trading one addiction for another.
Nicotine is completly out of your system in 72 hours. That third day is the hardest. If you make it past the third day, you have hope. For some people the nicotine addiction is stronger than the physical habbit. For a majority of smokers however, the actual engrained habbit of smoking is stronger. I dont care about the nicotine. My problem is that I need the physical motions. Literally, the motions of getting a cig, flicking the lighter, taking a hit, breathing in, blowing out and the same thing all over again. Sometimes I would smoke an herbal cig if I really just needed one. I dont really suggest that, because smoking anything really isnt healthy. Just try to be aware of what you are more attached to. If its the nicotine, it wont be that hard for you after the first week or so. It its the habbit, good luck. Smoke free for close to a year and a half and I want one every single day.
If you have any way of getting medication, anti depressants can help. Almost all addictions are tied to depression. You may not think you are depressed, but the meds can help.
You will have to quit hanging with the smokers. If all your friends are smokers, you are either going to be lonely or need to make some new friends. While you are trying and newly quit, being around smokers is almost always too much temptation. And if anyone else smokes in your house, kick them outside.ok smoking produce lung cancer and yes you need to stop fast becouse when u get lung cancer to bad so sad be healthy smoking what the big deal with it u are tasting smoke.... that dosent have nothing of cool or good is just plane lame be cool and odnt smoke trust me i see people with lung cancer they always say awww i should have stop smoking long time ago and i told them people told you to stop and you dint now look what happend i always say -what comes goes- XDNeed to stop smoking ciggs ? -
