For all u ppl who used to smoke n have quit, wut r some way to gradually stop smoking? -
i want my bf 2 stop smoking n idk how to get him to quit, its so gross!I prayed for God to help me and he did.I actually took a class to quit stop smoking.
I learned there are several ways which people become addicted:
1. chemical -the use of nicotene gum will help.
2. physical -Sucking on something when you are stressed or nervous...like a pen cap or cinnamon stick instead of a cigarette.
3. emotional (or something like that) Kinda goes with #2.
4. habitual -After dinner smoke, or -only when I drink- do something else instead...after dinner walk for example.Try this website for quit smoking help and information. Quit smoking can be a very stressful experience so you-ll need as much help as you can get.
Remember why you-re doing it! (Family, friends, general health)
Don-t give up and good luck!i smoked for years and i quit. it will be 2 years in october. the only thing i can tell you is HE-S got to want to quit. it-s not what you want for him. and gradually doesn-t work (at least for me it doesn-t). it just takes will power and lots of it. you should keep encouraging him to quit. tell him why you want him to. you never know, you may change his mind. good luck.try nicorettes..they worked for meYou are talking about cigarettes? :D
Moms smoked a lot, first she cut it down to one every half hour, then one every hour, and kept going like that.
Now if she craves too many, she does anything that she can do in water (can-t smoke if hands are wet). She takes extra baths and showers, washes dishes by hand, cleans things in the sink. She also makes a point of going to places where smoking is forbidden like the movies, stores, rides a bus...Good for you for caring enough about your bf to get him to stop.
I had no luck -gradually stopping-. Cold turkey is hard but necessary.
I had luck with Nicorette. You can also get a nicotine delivery system shaped liked a cigarette to satisfy that oral thing.
Gum (though it makes you hungry), carrot sticks, LOTS of water, and a support group all helped. It-s hard to do it alone.the first thing a person should do to quit smoking is to find out that he really want to quit or not it is all in his brain it is like a mind game you play., secondly try to minimize his smoking habit, thirdly as time goes by he will fill that he can control over himself a Little bit by bit. many ways to control yourself from smoking eg. do not bring your cigarette with you, chew gum or sweet if you feel like to smoke, don-t tell anybody if you try to quit, change your life style go for sport activity such as jogging or go to the gym. sometime he might fail but dun worry try again never give up, one day he can control himself over the cigarette just like me now.just remember as long as he really want to quit use what ever method I-m sure he success at the end. i know cause i been smoking for about 20+years i use this method and i can do it but almost took me one year to totally stop.try the Cooper/Clayton method. it-s the best at success!First of all he has to do it for himself or it won-t work. He has to be the one to decide enough is enough. They have patches, gum and a doctor can prescribe a pill if he wants to go that route. Good Luck and Blessings.I don-t know anyone who-s done it gradually without using very expensive -Nicorette- type products. I stopped cold turkey. Of course, I was pregnant and having awful morning sickness, and cigarettes made it worse (just for the record, I didn-t know I was pregnant at the time, but as soon as I found out I knew I-d never smoke again).
Hey, tell him you won-t kiss him until he stops smoking.I quit smokeless tobacco 3 years ago.
Go to your Dr. and get a perscription of Zyban. It is a brand name for Wellbutren. It is the only thing that worked for me after trying lots of times.
Be on the meds for at least a month befor quiting and try to stay on them for 5 months after quiting. Even if you feel you dont need to.i gave up giving upI used prescription drugs, but honey, I am sorry to say that it will not work unless he wants to quit. I quit 5 times, 4 times for others and 1 time for myself. Good luck! For all u ppl who used to smoke n have quit, wut r some way to gradually stop smoking? -

what is my body doing now ? with the lack of smoking.Great job! They say it-s the 3 day hump, meaning the first 3 days are the toughest.
Depending on how heavy a smoker you are the nicotine is out of your circulatory system in 48 to 72 hours.
Normal side affects of quitting smoking are:
-anxiety
-boredom/loneliness
-sadness/depression
-anger
(These feelings will pass!)CONGRATS!!!!!! KEEP ON GOING!!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!
Just distract yourself and just remember that what ur doing is soooo good. Probably the best decision u will ever make! just keep focused on ur goal to quit and ur doing sooo amazing!!
KEEP IT UP=]
beleive in yourselfu are doing well
but dont give into the temptation to have one
ur body wont ever be completly perfect because u will always have tar in ur longs from cigarettes
but u will start to become healthier and maybe even breath a little betterYour body isint healing yet if that is what you mean, that will take years. Good job though. Keep with it :-)

I stopped smoking 1 month ago still taking champix tablets.. I have had some major cravings thought the champix stopped them !!! Anyway I still have a pack with 15 in and carry them everywhere I go and have not touched them is that my willpower kickin in. My hubby has also stopped but 2 days less than me. What is it going to be like for me in the next month are the cravings still as bad I had bad cravings yesterday please let me know I am even dreading going on holiday as it will only be 3 months of being stopped and I am scared that I will smoke as everything I did on holiday I had a smoke..My husband gave up smoking 31st May 2008 using Champix. I have never smoked so I don-t know from experience but from bystander. After about 6 weeks, he was like a different man. The cravings eased and his moods got lighter. He seemed much more his normal self and his chest eased up (he is asthmatic)
After three months he went into hospital and had an operation and he has been really good since.
good luck and stick to it.WELL DONE YOU don-t give in it will be ok and you will get over the cravings honest.Take a big bag of boiled sweets out with you i know they have a lot of sugar but you can always walk it off,i carried them all the time and they helped me no end ,try and drink plenty of water that also helps carry a bottle in your bag and swig it .Also just think back to how you are no longer suffering a smelly house ,clothes, and breathe eeeww ,no more fag body you go girl GOOD LUCKthe craveings subside, but then you miss holding a cigarette, with a coffe,or a glass of wine, you feel as if youre incomplete.
i found it easier not to be around people when they light up,just the smell of smoke made me think-mmm thats nice-
hey well done!! youre doing great!
keep it upmaybe not. just take it one day at a time. don-t worry about it.Stopped smoking 1 month ago please tell me what its like in month 2...? -
Trying to quit smoking (Allen Carr?)? -
Trying to quit smoking (Allen Carr?)? -
I heard of the Allen Carr book that helps people quit. What I wanted to find out (which seemed impossible over the rest of the internet) if its just things like -flush your colon (as in the kind where you actually goto somebody to do it for you)-, -go buy these pills-, -buy a ton of this exotic expensive stuff-. Is it like -hey this is why you shouldn-t smoke *shows pictures of lung cancer*-? I just wanna know if this information is gonna be useful, NOT expensive / sending me off to buy more stuff. (you can argue that smoking is expensive all you want, but thats why I-m quitting, a big part of it, not like I can afford to spend that money elsewhere)
Name of the book was -Allen Carr’s Easy Way to Stop Smoking-.I read this same book about 2 years ago.My mates mum gave it to me as it worked really well for her.She was a committed smoker to say the least.
Basically it questions the reasons why you smoke and what you actually get out of it.
It makes points such as smokers say they smoke to relax but are never truly relaxed as they are always waiting for the next ciggie.
It also says stuff like how all smokers feel crappy about doing it which I certainly did.
I was told to take a few weeks reading it but rushed a bit, when i quit I was very hyped up and felt great about quitting.
sadly I lasted about 3 weeks.
You just need to pick the right time and when you are ready just stop.I-ve been 8 weeks now and feel so much more relaxed,I didn-t make a big deal of it and just did it.
Don-t try to replace ciggies with anything else ,honestly just stop. You won-t regret it.
This book could give you a useful foundation.
Good luck!books like this tend to only question why one smokes in the first place
i myself found it easier for me to quit when i just quit buying them. but of course i went through nicotine withdraw and that does suck
was 14 at the time i quit, dont know if that helps any lolTrying to quit smoking (Allen Carr?)? -

well, the smell stays in the car, does this affect me?Hi Savannah! Good for your MOM! The Febreze trick is good; also, empty and clean all ashtrays in the car; there are places that you can take the car that will steam clean the inside and it will smell like a brand new car!Forget about Renuzit...Febreze is THE BEST!!! Almost all those -other- sprays just coverup the smells temporarily; Febreze ELIMINATES the odors!!! LOVE IT!!!

Ummm ya I think it does a little, its called second hands smokingNo, the smell won-t hurt you, if that is what you are asking. It could, nicotine could still be in the air, try using some Febreeze to KILL the odor not cover it up, or just scrub the carpeting.
You could also put some baking soda on it then vacuum it up.My mom smokes. a few months ago she stopped smoking in the car (she smokes one occasionally when im in there) -
