have you or anyone you know of had hypnotherapy to stop smoking did it work, did they have any side effects?Hi my dad is now 51 and has smoked since he was 10 he was a 40 a day smoker. early this year he went to see a hypnotherapist and stopped straight away, this wasn-t my dad-s first attempt to stop he tried everything you can think of but did not succeed, from what my dad said they don-t actually hypnotise you they just really relax you and then use a form of acupuncture and he hasn-t touched a cigarette since. i have booked myself and my partner in for it next weekend send me an email and I-ll let you no weather it was a success flur17@hotmail.comstop looking for aids to help quit. Ultimately you must want to quit yourself so stop being weak minded. Take it one day at a time and maybe check out your local hospital ward, the one with all the respiratory problems in, now that motivationHi,
I tried it once about 10 years ago and basically I left the session walked outside and lit up a cigarette!!
Things have changed now though, maybe worth giving it a go.
Good luck!Hi, I gave up smoking 4 months ago and while it was hard to start with it really does get easier (believe me, I NEVER thought I would stop) and I went cold turkey. If I can do it so can you. I have known a few people who have had hypnotherapy in the past and only one started smoking again. It won-t work unless you are really determined to give up, you have to have the right mind set to give up, regardless of what treatment you use. There are no side effects that I know of, but ask the therapist yourself, they may tell you different. Good luck, it-s the best choice you can make.no it does not workHypnotherapy for smoking? -

i-m trying to stop smoking, i need tips.Just stop
Dont buy it, stop hanging around your friends who are doing it,
and if they pressure you, they obviously aren-t your friends
Weed is not a terribly addictive drug. Cigarettes and caffeine are actually much worse.
You just need some will power. The main problem with stopping smoking marijuana after a long time is that un-stoned life just seems really dull and boring. If you plan to do a lot of fun stuff over the first week or so you decide to quit smoking weed then you should be just fine. You may have to avoid hanging out with your friends when they are smoking weed unless you have really strong willpower.Congrats on deciding to stop.
Right off the bat, don-t quit cold-turkey. Assuming you-re an avid smoker, limit yourself on how much you-re smoking daily or weekly. Every week cut your consumption by half is a good way to quit.
Continue your hobby. What did you enjoy doing before smoking? Or what would you like to pick up (non-drug related, please. lol).
Working out is a good stress reliever and will definitely keep you on your toes and your mind off the pot.
Meditation, I-ve heard is another great relaxing thing to do--but you should probably consider doing this later on since it does require more concentration and more willpower.
Drinking coffee--black is preferred (+cream +sugar). Enough caffeine to keep you going through out the day, so you could burn it off while working out. And it-s good for you. :)
Eat lots and lots of salads as your stomach will be churning and gassed up. If you ever thought about eating real healthy, this is time in your life to start.
Start gaming! it-s addicting and it-ll keep your mind off the weed.do not buy it hang a chart up in your house saying no smoking to remind you or just tell your friends to remind to stop when they see you in my Option smoking is a waste of money to meIt shouldn-t be that hard to quit since it-s not physically addicting. Life will just seem a little less exciting, so try to keep busy and it shouldn-t be hard to quit at all.just don-t do it.
cannabis has never been shown to be addictive, there is no withdrawal.
so just don-t do it...Don-t smoke it.Ways to stop smoking weed? -

my husband smokes at least 2 packs of cigaretts
every day ,all his attempts to stop smoking has failed ,are there any valid medications that may help him? I WANT SOMETHING THAT YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW HAS TRIED IT.thanksYour husband has to commit himself!! Whether successfully quit it cold turkey or on meds, it will come down to his own commitment! Good luck!My wife and I went to a Smoking Class at the hospital. You meet others, have a test every week, you went to make sure your carbon levels werte staying down, you could not cheat that way, talked the problems over in your class with others, and were offered a medication that might suit you best, it lasts about 6-7 weeks, after which you are given enough medication to last about six months. It all boils down to one thing and thats will-power and the help of your partner. Its helped me for i no longer smoke but my wife has now gone back to 10 ciggies a day. No matter what you think dear its up to you now to make the next step and then up to both of you to come to an agreement never to start again, thats will power and your own determination. The class really does help as it makes you feel an idiot if you try to cheat, and talking over the smoking problems with your class is far better than going to your GP and seeing the nurse there to help you stop.It gives you a sense of satisfaction that helps you continue. As for medication it was called Champix I think. Good Luck, it worked for me. By the way, let him know that all the coughing at a later age that he will get, about 50- 60 yrs old, will be so bad that not any cough medication or laxative will stop it, at 3am in the morning he will keep getting up coughing for 20 minutes or so, thats murder on your chest, then a sharp tightness will come on his chest so bad he will end up in the hospital thinking he-s got a bad heart or lung. It stops after you stop the smoking, in about 7-10 days, no kidding, i have gone through this and its plain murder, don-t let him do it, get your authority on him, before its too late.
One thing more, I thought about this last night, you have to have a good reason to give up if its to help, your husband should try to think about you and him in the future health wise or something near to that, it was that which stopped me.My question for you, is it your idea that he should stop smoking???? Or did he decide that he wants to stop smoking????
there is a medicine out on the market that would help him stop smoking, but honestly I-d say its mind over matter, you have to decide that your done smoking, cause nothing will make him stop smoking, its a matter of wanting to and sticking with it..
I think the medication is Chanex(Sp)
I think I have some cause my lung specialist gave it to me in hopes I-d stop smoking.. I-ve tried wellburtin which just made me feel on cloud nine, and then there nic patches which is very expensive to buy...
or gum..
GOOD LUCKNicotene addiction is one of the most difficult ones to overcome (I think it-s because it-s one the most socially accepted forms of addiction). The only way most people can quit such a powerfull addiction is with medication. I know several people who have talked to their physician started some meds (don-t know what they are) and have quit. After that, he will need to do some life style changes (it-s an addiction after all, there is no cure for it, just relief). Read up on books about addictions and how the various addictions shape and influence our brains.I looked at the whyquit.com website two years ago. At first I thought it would be a preechy American website that would be laughable and wouldn-t influence me in stopping. But reading the true stories made me stop.I went -cold turkey-, went to my local council leisure centre, got fit (and saved lots of money) and never looked back. Now I can run after my kids, look pretty damn fine and I don-t stink like an ashtray.
So try the whyquit website for starters. To give up it takes willpower, changing habits and above all the determination for your husband to actually WANT to quit smoking.
If nothing else works, you might be able to persuade your local hospital to allow your husband to walk around the cancer unit and see first hand what smoking does to people...Help groups and pills that block the craving altogether can help. He needs to speak to the doctor but it really must be his choice.
I-ve booked an appointment with my Doctor on friday to get some help. I-ve been smoking for 9 years (i-m 20) and I-ve had enough!!How can help my husband to get rid of smoking? -
