How much blood is normal to cough up after stopping smoking? -
The last time I quit smoking I coughed up blood too? This time I quit for 2 weeks without any problems till last night when I started coughing up blood, I coughed up enough to fill a small sized bathroom solo cup. I feel fine today lungs just a little irritated though. You should never cough up blood--it is always abnormal. It could be due to chronic bronchitis from the cigarettes but also be do to more serious conditions like blood clots, infections and even cancer. It is not normal to cough up blood at any time. You need to see a doctor as soon as possible. If I were you, I would go to the ER.This could be from smoking, or something other than that. It is probubly a good idea to go to a doctors office or hospital just to get it checked out,Surely you are joking. If not, you better high tail it over to the ER.Coughing up blood is absolutely never normal, esp. in such a large amount. See your doctor as soon as possible!I have been smoke free for a month now. I didn-t have that issue. After smoking MANY years. If I were you I would call my Dr. Better safe than sorry. Good Luck! How much blood is normal to cough up after stopping smoking? -
Do you think smoking weed is bad? -
Do you think smoking weed is bad? -
My boyfriend cant stop smoking weed, now i cant stop what should i do?I wouldn-t say it-s bad. I personally consider things like smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, and even some over the counter medications/drugs worst than marijuana. Everything should be done in moderation, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. If you personally feel that you-re smoking too much or becoming addicted seek some help, from parents, friends or even a doctor. Good luck.
Edit: This is to everybody; please don-t make your judgments on marijuana based on what you see on Above The Influence commercials or D.A.R.E. They are propaganda with false outdated -facts-, make your own opinions on things by conducting your own research. Not just in marijuana but on everything in life.My brother smoked weed from when he was 15 and now he is a 23 yr-old schizophrenic who gets kicked out of all colleges he attends, out of work, and has no friends. Do you want to be like that?uhh what weed? Is it any of these?

NutsedgeWELL.... i don-t see how it-s good for you. i mean, it-s addicting, it turns your teeth yellow, it costs money, and it makes it so you can-t think straight when you want to if you smoked recently. You-ll also get busted if you get caught. i personally think it isn-t a very smart choice but it-s up to you. if you have kids are you really gunna want to have that kind of influence around them? No. It-s awful for you. I had an assembly at school a few weeks ago. It showed videos and pictures of stuff that happens to you. You and your boyfriend should go to rehab. Sometimes its hard to see what drugs do to you.its natural...but it may cause cancer later in life...but what the heck ,buy then most of us will already be dead from all the things our goverment wont let us do ...hahahahahhahalhaha why stop? by the time you can stick it out and quit smoking it-ll be legalized...trust me.umm you really do need to stop because it seems like you are getting addicted to itNo, It sure is alot better for you than smoking regular cigarettes. If nothing is added to it, it really isn-t all that bad, It-s natural.Anything that you cant stop is BAD.
Addiction, to anything, is a bad thing.
Plus, it impaires your mind and can cause long term damage.
Stop smoking it, for your sakeI smoked weed for years and i will tell you it is a waste of your life and your money. Its hard to get a good Job because you cant pass a drug test and if you are employed if you get hurt they will not pay for you because you are on drugs. look at this sight it will tell you all about what it dose to your brain and Life.... good luck!Hi friend,
Let me tell you something, if you can-t stop smoking weed, you are already addicted to it, and anything you are addicted to is definitely bad for you. I would advise you to put an end to this destructive habit, as the guy above me just mentioned, its a waste of time and money.
Not only that, your health will soon be ruined, and then, what is life, without good health? Please, make this your new year-s resolution, and stop smoking weed! All the best! and I hope everything works out for you and your bf.No its not badDo you think smoking weed is bad? -
How can i get my mom to stop smoking in the damn bathroom? -
How can i get my mom to stop smoking in the damn bathroom? -
Cigarette smoke really bothers me, i hate it and my mom stopped smoking in the house and then she started to sneak smoking in the bathroom and i always smell it from upstairs in my room. it-s like she doesn-t fricken care. When she took me to the hospital cause i got pleurisy i told the doctor she keeps smoking in the bathroom and it bothers me my mom asked the doctor if it was okay and he of course said no it-s not. But she does it anyway!
And i always catch her smoking and i get so angry afterwards and i get anxiety cause im so pissed at her. And all she says is -then stay out of my damn bathroom- she just doesnm-t get that the smoke still sits in the air.
Shes really starting to upset me. how can i get her to stop?
Next time i go to the doctors should i just have him convince her to stop.your mom acts like a child, selfishly. it-s sad that it came to this. she obviously isn-t that ignorant, but she-s addicted so it won-t be easy.
try to tell her gently that she could for example smoke somewhere else (like her bedroom) with the windows open so it won-t bother you.
the best thing is to try to make her stop. tell her that this isn-t good for her either. there are many associations, and groups who are dedicated to help people like her, ask them what you should do (just google them or look in your area). i-m sure they have shrinks as well.
i think that when a mother doesen-t understand that she-s hurting her child, she really really needs help. it isn-t normal to be this selfish with your own child. with other people maybe, but not your own child. try to ask them what you should do, and how to act around an addicted person.
if nothing can be done, open your own window. the key is to understand why she-s doing it, that-s how you can find an answer.
if nothing can be done, work on yourself. this stress you-re having is making almost as much damage as the smoke itself. try to accept how things are, you don-t have to like it, but accept the fact that for a few more years you-ll have to deal with it. if you can-t breath, just open you window and go out for a walk (or somewhere else in the house) just the time it takes for the smoke to clear.
but i-m sure that she feels bad about it, so maybe all you have to do is try another tactic to reach to her. maybe just be gentler. or less judgemental while talking to her. look for people who deal with addicts all the time to help you out.
good luck
one last thing, i can-t believe the things people are saying here. it just isn-t OK to treat your child this way. i-m all for compassion, but the fact that she-s paying the bills does NOT make it ok for her to poison someone else even her own child. what are you thinking people?? maybe she-s paying the bills and raising the child BUT she also made the decision to bring it to the world, didn-t she. she has to act responsible.
so as i said before, try to be gentle while talking to her and seek help, or live around it. but never think that what she-s doing is normal. i-m really sorry about this. the good thing is that i think she is too, and no mother would turn down the opportunity to make life better for her child if presented with it nicely. as in do not hurt her feelings and always be polite.
this goes with everybody too.Her house her rules her bills that she pays. You probably stress her out leave her alone about it. Do you know how hard it is to raise a teengae daughter go to work, and pay the bills? Just say hey i really dont care if you smoke can you take it outside or hang out a window while you do it.Just leave her alone. If you were my kid I-d tell you if you don-t like it you can find your own place...oh wait, you can-t, she pays all the bills. I-d put you in your place real fast. If I was her I-d fire up in your room!your mom sounds like a *****, you should tell her to take her lazy *** outside to smoke, and if she doesnt have a talk with your doctor. She is the mom, you are the daughter. You respect her. If my sister and I didn-t respect our parents we got the belt.
If I was your mom, I wouldn-t hide in the bathroom. I would just smoke right out in the open. She-s earned the right to. She pays the bills.
No need for you to exaggerate the whole thing. Like most kids who complain about smoking, you-ll probably take it up yourself. So why should she stop because of you?
What is this you catch her? Pardon me, but you catch flies. You catch a cold. You don-t catch your mother doing anything. She can catch you, but you don-t catch her. That-s the benefit of being an adult. Maybe one day you-ll be one yourself. All you have to do is hit the right age, and grow up. Sounds simple, but for many it-s hard. You can-t get her to stop. She can-t stop. She is an addict.
Addicts don-t get better without a structured recovery program and many addicts will backslide over and over even then.
She isn-t smoking in her bathroom to annoy you (or to make you feel sick) she is smoking in the bathroom DESPITE the fact that it bothers you and makes you feel sick. Don-t you think that makes her feel ashamed? Don-t you think she knows how badly she-s failing you?
Ask your mom for a portable air filter (like the ones -The Sharper Image- used to sell...) I bet she-ll oblige.
Try, then, to have some compassion. How can i get my mom to stop smoking in the damn bathroom? -

Whats the best way to stop smoking the natural way.
I know you will say WILLPOWER,Patch, gums, inhaleter etccc.
I want to know a better way........like the night before I go to bed can I drink orange juice or something in order to destroy the awful taste that I get in the morning.
And it is this awful taste that forces me to smoke.
So come you guys who have stopped help me out.go for you! i hope you succeed. we did smoking as a topic for biology at AS level not long ago and apparently the first few days are really difficult, so although you dont want to hear it, you will need lots of will power. if you manage (fingers crossed and good luck) to get past the first week, your alveoli sacs will be back to working as normally as possible, your smokers cough will have started to die down, and your sense buds (in your nose and in your mouth) will start to come back to life. after a couple of months your chances of getting lung cancer, emphysema etc etc will have reduced by about 90% and you wont smell anymore, and then after a year, you-ll def have enough to go on a lovely holiday! so good luck !!! you need willpower(sorry, i know you dont want to hear it but you will) and you will need the support of the people around you so that you dont start smoking again!! xxxdip all your fags in coke or some fizzy drink and smoke them it will put you of smoking and you wont try it again trust me it works well it worked for meI-m afraid there is no magic cure, it comes down to sheer determination! As soon as you get up in the morning clean your tetth and use a strong mouthwash, that might help. It isnt the taste that forces you to smoke, its your addiction to nicotine! Kick it, it isnt easy but you can do it. I gave up smoking 8 years ago and its the best thing I ever did.Other treatments
Zyban (Bupropion Hydrochloride)
Zyban is a treatment which changes the way that your body responds to nicotine. You start taking Zyban a couple of weeks before you quit and then continue the treatment for a few weeks to help you through the withdrawal cravings. It-s only available on prescription and is not available if you are pregnant.
Champix
A new stop smoking treatment called Champix is now available on prescription and formal guidance on its use is expected from NICE, the organisation that assesses new treatments, in July 2007. Draft guidance issued by NICE in May 2007 indicates that Champix is likely to be recommended for use on NHS prescription, as it is effective and represents good value for money for the NHS.

·Nicotine gum
When you chew nicotine gum, the nicotine is absorbed through the lining of your mouth.
·Nicotine patches
Nicotine patches work well for most regular smokers and can be worn round the clock (24 hour patches) or just during the day (16 hour patches).
·Microtabs
These are small tablets containing nicotine which dissolve quickly under your tongue.
·Lozenges
Lozenges are sucked slowly to release the nicotine and take about 20-30 minutes to dissolve.
·Nicotine nasal spray
The spray delivers a swift and effective dose of nicotine through the lining of your nose.
·Inhalators
Inhalators look like a plastic cigarette. The inhalator releases nicotine vapour which gets absorbed through your mouth and throat. If you miss the -hand to mouth- aspect of smoking, these may suit you.

Hope this will be a bit helpful to you. I Wish you good luck!! And I hope you can do it!!!!!!!!!!I have no answer but offer support, as I am 37 and have the lung capacity of an 80 year old! I will be watching the answers closely. Have a starThe best natural way is to stop smoking right away. This way your will power automatically works.well i kinda forgot how i stopped though i only smoked for a short time.i tried it a few times which would be enough to get the average person i believe addicted to the fags. but as i smoked i looked at the cigarettes in discust after the 3rd time i smoked them and somehow i was able to quit.will power does help but depending on how long youve been smoking it may be the only thing to do since the other stuff is part of the placebo effect and is a waste of money.if you have family and friends that arent smokers have them encourage you to quit smoking or you yourself learn how to self disiple yourself to slowly quite smoking by smoking less then hopefully youll just all of a sudden quit smoking.well hope it helps some. There is no easy way, smoking is a drug and a strong one it hides lots of things and gives most people the false impression that it is helping with some thing or another, I took too long, now my health is bad because of it, So you have to decide on a day or time you will stop, when you are feeling good with the world and your self, then go for it and do not turn back, if necessary use the patches as they do help, but what ever you do , do not have a last -one- or a -quick puff on the way- once you have gone 3 or 4 weeks then you are pretty safe but you must keep telling yourself AND your friends that you DO NOT SMOKE. Good LuckGo for a trip in a wood or in mountains, where there are no shops. Physical exercise will help you not to think about smoking - and when you return you will be able to avoid smoking, get a bicycle - go out cycling, that will keep your mind off of them when the going gets tough.

Can anyone give me a few tips on how to stop smoking? -
Good for you for wanting to stop smoking! Nicotine is very addictive, and it is a lot of work to quit, but it can be done. I found a website that is dedicated to helping people stop smoking that is full of tips:
http://www.stopsmoking.net/tips.html
You can also try a 12 step program, see if your community has any other free programs, ask your doctor, visit the American Cancer Society (see below) - there are tons of resources for you - good luck!Make a list of all the reason you want to quit... Like it makes you smell, bad for your health/teeth, expense, etc. Every time you want to smoke think about all the things on your list. Also, it-s important to stay busy especially at the times you normally smoke. Don-t put yourself in high stress situaltions for a while. Stay away from other smokers! I know just the smell of a cig makes me crazy and want to smoke. If you drink, take a bit of a break... for me every time I have a drink the first thing I think about is a cig. Good luck! It will be worth it in the long run!!Keep yourself buisy with crafts or cooking ect
Leave the packet inanother room (preferbly on a different floor) so you have to make that exter effort to get them (you-d be surprised how much it works)
If you find it reaaaaly hard allocate times where your allowed to smoke but NO other time egbetween 10 and 10:30 and 1 and 1:30
Quitting with someone else helps alot
Dont hide emergancy fags around the house it will only temp you
Good Luck and Well Done For trying to quitGet rid of your cigarettes and prepare to spend a little time away from your friends that do. (Three weeks or so). Hang out with people who don-t smoke, and don-t drink or do anything else that may impair your judgment for this period of time.
They say that each acquired addiction should be replaced with another, more healthy addiction to take its place. I have heard of eating a piece of fruit or a vegetable every time you get a craving for a cigarette. You-d be surprised how good you-ll feel after you get over the hard part.
Good luck, you-re very brave.Start drinking heavily.
Just kidding. Welbutrin is an anti-depressant that makes you stop and won-t let you start eating to replace it. I am on it, but not for smoking...I admit that it stops cravings. I skipped yesterday and ended up eating a half a bag of Dove Chocolates...before I realized what was going on.

Jane is correct...make it really inconvenient to get to the cigarettes...and put the lighter away from the cigarettes...it won-t be worth it and you will come to your senses in that time. Wash and hide all ashtrays so you have to get out a clean fresh one and mess it up...again, kind of a deterrant.
Sugar free candy, walnuts or almonds might help as well...but it is best to not turn to food at all.
My mom quit cold turkey...just because she made up her mind to. And she had been smoking for almost 30 years. Just visit a site that shows lung tumors...that is what worked for her.

After years and years and many ways of trying, I always failed. Three days ago, I started taking Chantix. It-s taken all the fun and joy out of smoking, makes the ciggys taste bad and I don-t even want them. So, I recommend this method since I have quit. Most insurances pay for it.
www.chantix.comchewing gum ... keeps your mouth busy and it-s much tastier!hypnosis is the only thing that worked for me
but you have to want to quit and want to be hypnotized
if you don-t then it won-t work
the gum and the patch, and cold turkey didn-t work for me
also during the hypnosis not only you can quit, but also teaches you how to not gain weight after you stop smoking
check your local ads for these seminars
it only costs $40 to $50 and it is guaranteed..if it doesn-t work, you can go back and do it for freeFirst, You have to really want to quit because it is really hard...next...The newest medicine..is Chantix (veryniclyn) . it was released in October it is a tablet taken daily. I teach a quit smoking class here in Tennessee. It has shown to be very effective, Smoking Cessation classes help, Nicotine pathes help, Wellbutrin also takes away some of the obsession...
I would do this...Ask your doctor about chantix and giving it a try...It is probably the most effective thing so far.... If that does not work...Patches and Wellbutrin and Nicotine gum along with Smoking Cessation classes all at the same time....You deserve to quit smoking....try asking your Dr for Wellbutrin it helps stop the craving.. also you can try a nicotine patch or get the nicorette gum. Otherwise just try cold turkey.just a compilation of all the above: OTC ways are nicotine patches, gum, and lozenges. Prescriptions of Wellbutrin/Zyban/buproprion. Lifestyle stuff like getting a support group, setting a quit date, getting active in other events to keep you busy. another little trick my dad used is go smoke-free for a while (days/month/2months, ets), calculate the ammount of money you would have spent on cigs...................then go buy something with that money that you like (not cigs of course, and continue not smoking). my dad could now open up his own hardware store. good luck. After 35 years @ 2 packs a day...I went to my doctor and she put me on Wellbutrin for 10 days. At the end of that time I had absolutely NO physical craving for the nicotine. After being smoke-free for over 6 years, when I get stressed I STILL want a cigarette mentally but not physically. I just keep reminding myself how hard it was to just decide to quit, then do it and don-t want to go back to it again! It REALLY does make you smell, you don-t notice the odor until you-ve quit but it is REALLY gross!Good luck!THINK OF WHAT YOUR LUNGS LOOK LIKE AND HOW CONSTRICTED YOUR ARTERIES ARE. YOU AREN-T GETTING ENOUGH OXYGEN TO YOUR LUNGS AND BRAIN. YOU ARE SLOWLY KILLING YOURSELF. HOPE THAT HELPSthe very best way is to quit cold turkey. I cant say much though because I am smoking a cigarette right this minute. good luck to you.nicoteeSet a date like 4 weeks or so from now. Take a week or two off work, starting on your quit day, if you are able. A combination of the welbutrin and the patch will work but look forward to sleepless nights. Make a schedule of things to do in your area and go do them, keep your self busy. And try to stay away from smokers for as long as you can.the most effective is supportive measures from a healthcare provider in conjunction with the nasal nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) spray.Being a heavy smoker myself at present the only thing I could think that would stop me would be to stop breathing. Ha! If I was to be honest about it though I would like to believe that if one of my loved ones had cancer and/or I had it I would hope that would be enough to make me quit. Have personally tried Ziaban and all it did was give me headaches. My fiance and I joke that we can-t afford to not to smoke as we only pay $10 a carton from a native reserve outside town, but sad fact is that neither of us is ready to quit yet. Everyone I-ve talked to that has quit said that they really wanted to quit beforehand and then went cold turkey. Best of luck to you in kicking this dirty addictive habit.nicotine patchQuitting smoking is a great opportunity to learn about ourselves.
Congratulate yourself on having the desire to stop - then you are over the worst, but still need to maintain your resolve. It-s just so easy to start thinking that just one won-t hurt, but it does. Just one achieves nothing except feeling the need for another. Whatever you do, don-t have just one. Beware - alcohol will weaken your resolve.
Here-s a few home-brewed tips that might be useful.
It-s not just nicotine addiction - there are 50+ chemicals in cigarettes. Also the main problem is habit.
We have been used to having body sensations which we translate as -my body needs something-, which we have attempted to satisfy by having a cigarette.
When we try to stop smoking, we still get these -my body needs something- sensations, and we still feel that we want a cigarette. We have to train our body to be more selective. When we feel we need something, we have to work out what it is that we actually need.
A glass of water is an excellent substitute if nothing else comes to mind, as it helps with the clearance of the toxic substances in our body. Another good substitute is a bag of salted peanuts, used in combination with the water.
Another thing to do is to find an activity which occupies the mind or body. Go swimming - nobody wants to smoke while they are swimming. Slowly, as our body adjusts and translates the -want something- feelings into something other than cigarettes, then the feelings begin to go away. We know its not a cigarette that the body really needs, because as soon as we-ve had one we still have the feeling, and want another!
We will have a few bouts of feeling or even being short tempered. We must try to bite our lip, and control; ourselves. Recognise the short temper as being the removal of toxins which are trying to find a way out. They went in through the mouth, and they try to get out that way to. We must learn to keep our mouth closed, and force the toxins out the other way.
After we have stopped for a while we will begin to feel that just one wont to any harm.
All that leads to is a desire for just another one. We must guard very strongly against the desire to have just one.QUIT BUYING............Go to yoga classes and do some meditation. u will automatically stop smoking. Even if u want to smoke, u cannot if u do meditation regularly. When you decide to quit adopt a rigid policy of -no compromise.- That means once you quit, you will not ever make an excuse to smoke, not a little, just a whiff or only when you drink. No compromise. You quit and that-s it. Forever. Every time you think about smoking, remember this commitment. It will work, because the agreement is with yourself. Just remember, no compromise, ever. What r some ways to stop smoking? -
