Very helpful.You will be okay. I quit after many years. I had some bouts of coughing, it all went away after a short while. It is a proof an
scientific fact the chemicals of smoking are completely out of your system after only 6 hours. The rest is totally psychologically. Lungs now and then are ridding of particulars which may cause coughing, the headaches are another matter, most likely it is psychological or due to something else. Maybe see your doctor to be sure.good job!! i hope you keep it up but yea it is normal because all of that stuff from the smoking can finally come up out of your throat now instead of getting covered with more..Yes, I actually coughed more the first few weeks after I quit than I did when I smoked! It should go away within a few weeks. Congrats on quitting! Stick with it!Yes, you were breathing in heavy tar smoke. You might also have a bug of some sort that-s non-related. But give it a few weeks and it should go away. Then again, I-m no physician so you may want to go get it checked out if its very persistant.Yes, I had the same thing when I quit. I think my coughing started on day four and lasted for about 10 days. Since then it-s been pretty much smooth sailing. The only time I get cravings is when I have alcohol. Congrats on your quitting. You will ultimately feel so much healthier. :)Is it normal to cough after stopping smoking? -

I cant quit smoking completely, What can I do? -
I started the patch today, and so far, it is not working well. I put it on just before I went to work, and went 6 hours without a cigarette. Then went another 4 without a cigarette. I usually smoke about 30 cigarettes a day. Since I put the patch on 2. I know I am not supposed to smoke with the patch on but I am really not feeling anything. The patch I was given (by the state of Massachusetts -stop smoking campaign- it was free) is a patch I have never heard of before. Years ago, I did have some success with Nicoderm. Are patches different?
I have no problem with my hands. The withdrawals I am getting are around the the chin,cheek area. The bottom half of my face is really struggling without having a cigarette. -The rest of my body is fine with not having a cigarette. Has anyone ever had this feeling of withdrawal? I mean around the chin-cheek area?I personally don-t trust any quit smoking method that deals only with physical nicotine addiction. I tried several times to quit using patches, gums, herbs etc but none of these worked.
Smoking is more of a psychological addiction than a physical one. If you really want to quit you must discover the reasons why you smoke and then eliminate or change these thought processes. As soon as I dealt with my psychological reasons for smoking I quit, first time and more importantly for good.
Once you deal with the psychological side of smoking it makes the quitting process easy, no matter your level of addiction.
Quitting smoking does not require any patches, gums, herbs or anything like that. These methods are expensive, time consuming and simply do not work. All that is required is a bit of motivation, self belief and determination.

Good Luck and Good Quitting
Kudos to you for wanting to quit! I wont lie, its gonna be tough. I haven-t heard about the chin-cheek area though. Have you tried using lollipops (suckers)? Maybe it is the action of having the cigarette in your mouth that your chin-cheeks are remembering? Hope I helped!It-s the habit that you are withdrawling from. This may sounds stupid but cut a carrot into sticks and hold it like you would a ciggie (obviously you would be biting into the carrot not trying to smoke it). This worked for a friend of mine.wow. sorry to hear your dilemma. {hug}
yes, patches are different. usually in strength. a STRONG Nicoderm patch is the way to go. sounds like you were a powerful and heavy smoker to smoke 30 cigs a day. so, definitely you need a strong patch. your chin-cheek area could be stress related. you are probably so stressed about quitting, hard to quit psychologically, body is going through severe withdrawals even if you don-t feel it, etc. that all of that and then some, have made your chin-cheek area tense.
please go see your Doctor again about the patch and ask about the chin and cheek.
good luck...!
love ya
those are my signature sayings.
{{{hugs}}}I hate smoking and I hate trying to quit. I think the patches are different but everyone tells me no. The best thing I have tried that works for me is Chantix (pill form). I went from a 2-2 1/2 pack a day. Now most of the time the most I may smoke is 1-3 a day. And I really can tell the diff health wise. You can only get it by Dr. RX and Chantix can be spendy but it really is worth it. To me and others I have spoke to the patches are mostly a tease but if it works GREAT. As far as the chin - cheek area no. But I do munch on Tic Tats alot. I wish you the best of luck!!!!!I cant quit smoking completely, What can I do? -
