nicotine is physically addicting. smoking behavior is psychologically addicting. for many people, the belief that smoking makes them -look cool- is imprinted in their brain through years of getting this message force-fed to them from advertising, television, and movies. millions of people smoke and live to smoke again, so the threat of smoking can be ignored by many that choose.Because they become addicted to whatever they are smokeing. But I know a lot of people who do and it-s extremely addicting. Plus there are elements in tobacco which do good things, like release endorphins, make you feel smarter, suppress the appetite.

It-s the physical habits which get people. People smoke when they drink at a bar (well, until they banned smoking in bars), or after sex, or while driving. As someone who has changed her eating habits, I know that it-s not the craving for FOOD, it-s the HABIT of eating at a certain time, certain place, or whatever. It-s those triggers which have to be overcome, and that-s so much more difficult than putting down the fork or throwing away the pack.because kicking tobacco addiction is harder than kicking heroin for many people plus tobacco is legal and sold everywhere.habit...It is a very hard habit to break. The nicotine in cigarettes is very addicting. I smoked for 17 years, and quit last year cold turkey. It is very hard!!! Alot of people also dont want to gain the weight when they quit. It is one of the hardest addictions to break.Tobacco companies put a lot more stuff in their cigs than tobacco, and those ingredients are real addictive and they don-t have to explain them.Nicotine is a drug and a very addictive one thats why people find it hard to quit somking ,although there are pleny of products and self help groups etc, to help people to quit somking , but at the end of the day u have to want to quit ,It-s addictive.Free will, habit, product of society.Addiction. It-s very hard to stop! Smoke free for almost 8 months now!!!!!occasionaly it feels goodIt was predicted that we must all die.
Smokers are just fulfilling this prophecy .

It becomes such a part of your daily life that quitting requires a complete change in the way you do everything. I quit because I got tired of putting my life on hold to go get cigarettes. YOU have to WANT to quit for it to work until then you are just kidding yourselfThe main reason for smoking i was told by a number of smokers was that it alleviate stress.......in an article in the paper this weeks shows that there was an increase in smokers depise the many efforts being made but they have new plans for all smokers.....they are planning to increase the taxes paid for a box of cigarette, this will soon be in effect. so the smokers -you are going to have to dig deep in your pockets very soon-Because it is so so so addicting. I-m so glad I never started smoking and so sorry that other people do.

You feel this urge to feel -pleasure- from smoking - it-s connected in your mind earlier that smoking=pleasure, but now that you don-t smoke, you still need pleasure - if you can-t get it from cigarettes - you can get it from eating tasty food - once you eat too much, and don-t exercise - you gain weight.

But that-s not always the case, you can stop smoking the right way... it-s all in your head and the way you perceive smoking. If you make yourself completely believe that smoking=total pain, you-ll stop wanting them,Simply because after you quit an addiction to nicotine, your body can-t help but try and find another addiction... One of the most common addictions is the addiction to food, so after smoking, most people start to eat obsessively.

Of course, this can be avoided the same way a person stops smoking, just regulate what your body takes in.Because you don-t know what to do with yourself, you need that constant hand to mouth thing. That, and your taste buds which become damaged with smoking, restore themselves.alot of people replace the cig in their mouth with food.... not everyone gains weight, but i think that is the biggest cause as to whyBecause instead of putting a cigarette in your mouth--you substitute it for food,Because you regain your soul.

It did not work for me, nor did it work for being overweight either.It does for some people who really want to quit.Yeah they pretty much scare the hell out of you but it only last a little while..they usually give you a lifetime pass if that tells ya anything.yea, but not the way you think it does. It works BECAUSE YOU THINK it will. this is the whole basis behind the subliminal message tape industry.

formally, this is called the Placebo effect.

Additionally the resolve to really stop is needed and the readyness to change habits.It worked for me. I was a 2 pack a day smoker for more than 15 years. I went to a hypnotist and never smoked again.

What shocked me was that before I went, I was having a lot of second thoughts about shelling out the cash to pay for it because, it my mind, I was not ready to quit.

After the hypnosis (it was 2 sessions), I never smoked again. I have no idea why it worked. I was a hard-core smoker. To this date, I don-t quite understand why it worked but it did.

I have not had a cigarette in almost 6 years.

Hypnosis does work. The caveat is that not everyone is susceptible to hypnosis. Before taking my money and hypnotizing me, my hypnotist ran some -tests- on me to make sure I was susceptible to hypnosis. Good luck.

Someone else above said that hyponosis works only because of a -placebo effect- - I can tell you that is not correct.While hypnosis has done wonders for many, many people, including myself, hypnosis is just a tool for those who are ready to give up smoking. It cannot MAKE you stop but can help you to stay motivated to remain stopped and focused. If you do decide to seek out hypnosis for any issues I recommend you see a Hypnotherapist for a one on one session. I do not recommend the group hypnosis to quit smoking, unless a one on one session is included. I also suggest you do a google search for Hypnotherapy to learn more. Therefore, if your mind such a will to believe in B.S., should it not be convinced that smoking can cause cancer?It did not work for me, but I do know a lady that it did work for. I think it has to do with how easily your brain is fooled.My best friend did it and stopped for a year! Then started when got stressed! Think it helps you realise why you smoke.
