I want to try and stop smoking? -

I want to try and stop smoking? -

i want to try and stop smoking but i always eat when i have a craving.my friend was trying to stop but she has put just over half a stone on in the last three weeks. i already feel over weight and dont want to get any bigger what shall i do???Why stop?

My friend, it takes willpower to smoke so don-t think about giving up so damned easily, your body must be telling you that you need to just go and buy more Marlboro Lights poste haste. You have to really cultivate your habit, just try smoking 15/20 a day to start off and build it back up to a manly 30 or 40. Maybe even take up cigars also and at least consider chewing tobacco.

HOW ELSE ARE YOU GOING TO EXERCISE YOUR LUNGS?

As I said, people with no willpower give up (you have to be committed to the cost, health aspects, bad smell, nasty taste, social ostrisisement etc) and you don-t strike me as a wimp.

IT IS BIG AND IT IS CLEVER.

So pull yourself together, stop this ill advised and ridiculous venture into considering non smoking comformity, you would effectively be self harming and that cant be right can it?

NOBODY LIKES A QUITTER.

It will make you ill, you wont sleep, you will be spouting phlegm so for gods sake just do the right thing and keep giving you body what it needs, a nice, smooth, tasty Marlboro, you know it makes sense.

IT HELPS REDUCE UNWANTED PREGNANCIES.

Just picture it in your head, that something to do with your hands, the missing piece of the jigsaw when you have a coffee or a beer, that sweet smooth flavour of American tobacco gently coursing through your lungs and making you feel right again.

BEAR IN MIND THAT IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO RECYCLE TOBACCO - YOU WOULD BE HARMING THE ENVIRONMENT BY NOT SMOKING. ISN-T THAT A LITTLE SELFISH? WE ALL NEED TO DO OUR BIT.

You are right - symptoms of giving up include overeating and snacking on chocolate? That can-t be good can it - non smoking is plain unhealthy and we are already a nation of obese people.

SMOKING HELPS REDUCE WEIGHT AS PART OF A CALORIE CONTROLLED DIET. IT ALSO MAKES YOU LOOK HARD.

One final point to make my friend, you could get hit by a bus tomorrow so why are you being such a lightweight. Go and get yourself a beer right now and spark one up, you will feel so much better and this whole nightmare of deliberation will end. In fact, have a few beers because smoking is always allowed if you-re drunk. Why conform to the establishment when you could be making a personal statement about your belief in freedom.

Good luck, stop the madness.Start a workout routine, do things that you don-t associate smoking with (i.e. taking a bath, reading a book, sports, etc). Try Nicoderm or something of that nature, but be warned that if you get the patch, you must not slip up and smoke! My uncle died of a heart attack because he decided to relapse and was wearing the patch. Be strong!find something to cure boredom and find some thing that willl keep your hands busy, and your mind active and off ciggies.you must get a full body cleanse. all of your organs are now toxic. you must flush them out. a juice fast will help. also drink al ot of water and walk 1 hour everyday at a park with fresh air nonstop. no soda or ffastfoods.Trying to stop smoking is very difficult, but it can be done. There is no single method that works, and often the most successful strategy is to combine approaches. You may try to stop and fail, but don-t let that discourage you. Many people have to try many times before they finally quit smoking. Several things may need to be addressed:

1) Motivation. Keep reminding yourself why you want to quit. Every day.

2) Craving. Start off with a combination of nicotine patches or gum along with decreasing the rate of your smoking. Eventually supplant your smoking completely with the gum (it tastes bad, I know, so chew it along with a regular gum).

3) Exercise. Regularity of exercise is key to good metal health even if you are not trying to quit. This will help with your energy level, decrease craving and irritiability, and make you feel better. It will also remind you of what smoking has done to your body, but you will get better as you exercise regularly. If you-re out of shape, start off with long walks (~1 hour) with a friend or companion around the neighborhood or the mall. Take the stairs!

4) Support. Find a support group. This is key.

5) Find a hobby that is NON-STRESSFUL.

GOOD LUCK!!!!you should use - niquitin - patches they help you and make sure you do at leat 20 min a day of excersise you have to give up smoking before dealing with the weight trauma

use your fear and turn the ciggies in to that fear so if your tempted to buy or use that fear you wouldnt because its your worst fear and your teriffied and you wont be temepted as muchdont we allthink of it this way...
if you quit smoking..
all the money you can save you can treat yourself to a nice haircut,or facial or manicure,
then again you can go out and buy yourself some shoes,or handbags!!
that will make you happy!!Hmmm...my Mom is trying to quit too and instead of smoking she-ll sometimes eat sunflower seeds. They are a really small, heathy snack. (healthy is always a plus!)
I-m sure though that you were looking for an alternative to eating. Try working out or something that you love doing at home that may take your mind away from it.
That is typical advice...lol but I hope you may find something to help.

Good luck!
You are really strong for going through thisstop smoking first then think about your weight i gave up 4years ago i was big 2start with but stoping smoking made me feal so much better istop worrying about my size good luckdrink lots of water

print out pics of smokers lungs and healthy lungs and look at the difference

also write on your mirror or somewhere you look every morning a insperational quote or saying that gives you strength to quit

chew alot of gum
bite alot of straws
ummm
ive never smoked so i guess im not the best person to ask but i hope that helpedknow the fealing i went from 12st to 16st in 3months dont know the answer apart from supper glueing your lipsQuitting smoking was the hardest thing I have ever done. Everyone has there own way of fighting off the craving. There are pills ( i have heard excellent results about Chantix but do not know much about it.) I used the nicotine patch, but I did not follow the directions, I did not put the patch on until I had an unbearable craving, and then I put it on. It has been 8 months, and I no longer have cravings, but still find my self missing the cigarette smoking actions. Good Luck.Have you tried the - patches- and while some ppl put on weight ,with regular exercise and proper diet you are on your way to being healthier , good luckOh dear! I smoked for 25 years and I quit just a month ago - May 20th. I-d actually bought NiQuitine pasters to help me quit, but I used only one. I had resolved to quit. Please make a resolution and respect it: nothing works like strong willpower! Don-t let memories or smokers tempt you: just HATE tobacco and stick to your resolve to quit smoking! Write me when you stop ... I have a surprise gift for you.
