I am trying to help someone quit smoking. Other than nicotine patches, and things you have to buy, does anyone know of a -cold turkey- way to stop. She can-t afford the stop smoking remedies you get in the store. Anything natural? My mom was successful using sun flower seeds and lollipops. Its the motion of smoking they are addicted to also. Hope this helpsYour friend has an addiction. There is no easy answer. She can waste a lot of time - money trying various things. I have never heard of a natural remedy that worked. I talked to a friend the other day, she - her husband quit smoking by using Chantix. They both quit and did not have cravings. She said it really worked great. I don-t know the cost; but it would have to be worth it to end the addiction. And it works! Plus, your friend would be saving money by not smoking. She-d come out financially ahead fast by quitting. Not to mention losing a nasty habit, and regaining her health.cold turkey is hard. like 0.01% of 1+ pack a day smokers can do that. Chew on something if it helps.I am trying to help someone with something? -

what can i do besides just stop i been smoking for a long time and really want to stop them nasty cigarettes
so please help me tell me how you did it if you have stop for good
just need a helping hand ( can you help)you can get the patches , or go the the doctor they have pills out to help you also , good luck , wish i could stop but i couldn-t take anything iam to old now , and i have COPD already so that doesnt help either again good luckThis is a difficult question. I will have my 1 year anniversary without a cigarette on November 9th. I smoked for 23 years! I began by cutting down how much I smoked, then I picked a date that was very important to me (the date a loved one passed away; I quit smoking in her honor). Then, I found other hobbies and interests that were not the same as I-d had before (I work out at the gym 3-4 times a week, etc.) I also got a good support group. One friend told me to remember: someday I would have to quit if I didn-t do it this time, and I would have to go through everything I-d already been going through to quit again! It really seemed easier to only have to go through it once. I also had an acquaintance diagnosed with lung cancer around the same time, so this helped me see the damage that I could be causing myself. I also did order a low cost hypnosis CD from ebay I believe and listened to it a couple of time (not sure if this helped or not, but it definately didn-t hurt). It was definately tough to quit, but you are already through step one: your words tell me so: -Stop them nasty cigarettes- just the disgust tells me that you are ready to quit. Look up on the smoking cessaton websites and lung cancer sites how your lung tissue regenerates and in about 10 years how you can have healthier lungs again (I also read that eating broccoli helps regenerate lung tissue in people who quit smoking).
Quitting is really tough for the first 2 weeks during withdrawls. You will still have some cravings for about 6 weeks. If you can get through the first 1 1/2 months, the cravings will decrease steadily until you no longer crave them everyday. If you make it to 90 days.. you can quit for a life time.
GOOD LUCK!I was smoking for 7 years, I used -nicotene relief- - it is an herbal supplement that has a bark of a tree in it that makes your brain respond kind of like nicotene, so it-s like a patch, without the nicotene. I took them on a regular basis - I think it says once every 4 hours, and when I got a craving. That takes care of the physical part. The physical addiction only lasts about a week.
The mental is harder. I used counting. A craving only lasts about 5 seconds in your body, but your brain will hold onto it, so whenever I wanted a ciggarette, I started counting, slowly in my head, I would even close my eyes if I could at first. When your mind drifts to some other subject, the craving is gone and you can move on. I started at about 120, then after about a week I was down to 20 or so and stopped. My friend told me to try this and it worked really well.

This is the product I used, but it used to come in pills - if you prefer that, you just need to find a product with -lobelia- in it - that is the bark you need. You can buy pills, patches and gum. They may or may not work. I smoked a long time and was up to three packs a day. I just quit. You must really want to stop. Have the will power to quit.Chantix. It-s far more effective than anything out there.I want to stop smoking please give me some ideas on how ? -

How long does it take for all the nicotine to get out of ur body? How long do u have withdraws also?first, congrats on making a very wise choice, as a cancer survivor..I can promise you, within a short period of time, you will feel noticably better. How long it takes to get the poisons out of your body depends on how long you smoked, and how much you smoked. Most of the toxic stuff the government allows in those killer cigarettes are out of you within three days. Drink lots, and lots and LOTS of water..and what I did was every time I had to run to pee..I envisioned all the toxins leaving me! I kept hard candy on hand, so when I was craving, I could pop in a hard candy...see, the nicotine makes your blood sugar bounce(along with alot of other stuff its doing to you), so the hard candy helps. I also bought stick type pretzels. You can hold them between your fingers, suck on the end of them...heck, I ended up chewing off the salt and tossing the pretzels to the dogs..but..after about ohh..probably a week, I was over the worst of it..and the coolest part was I had gained a sense of taste and smell I hadnt known I had! I could actually tell when my houseplants were in need of water, or had enough(wet earth vs dried) food tasted better. all kinds of neat things!! I have to say though, it was still a year later that I was hacking up black crap from my lungs..after all, its TAR. and I smoked menthols for over 20 years, so its gonna take awhile to get all that crap out of you..but..the first three days are the worst..and if you just..get mad at the fact the government paid the farmers to spray the tobacco with stuff to addict you, should be incentive enough to quit..plus..mebbe, hearing from a cancer survivor. Good luck, and dont let anyone make you backslide!!! stay away from smokers, and eventually? the smell of those nasty things will be a total turn off..I promise!!!The physical with-drawl lasted about 1 week for me. The emotional and social with-drawl took longer. About 3-4 weeks. After about 10 years, I occasionally still have the idea of lighting up pop into my head all of a sudden. But I won-t do it. It-s great to be able to breath, and not have my hair, clothes, and home smell like smoke.i dont know but i guess for the nicotine to get completly out of ur syster you must at lease allow a week`s time ,
May be more depending what type of a smoker u r !!Physical withdrawal is approximately 48 hours; after that it is psychological. The longer you are stopped the easier it is, and usually within a year or so you may become allergic to smoke. Not much time.A week or so.What you have to do stick on NO SMOKING and have healthy life.Congrats for stopping smoking.Your achievement is Great! After u stop smoking..? -
