my grandpa love to smoke but it really really killing him slowly he smoke kools a pack a day i know you can-t make someone stop and less they want to stop but is there any way i can get a pill that will stop him from smoking i know talking not going to work i need helpNope. Sorry. The only things that can get your grandpa to quit is his own self will or death. You can offer your support and let him know how much it means to you, but he holds the only key.No magic pill. Wellbutrin can be prescribed by a doctor to help withdrawal symptoms. The only proven method to MAKE someone stop is to chain them to a heavy object. There are all kinds of methods that work to help people stop smoking (the gum, the patch, hypnosis, prescription Chantix, etc.). We come back to the original problem though -- your grandfather isn-t going to use any of those to quit smoking unless he wants to quit smoking. Until he decides for himself that he wants to quit, he-s going to continue to smoke, and no one on the planet is going to change his mind for him.If there was a pill, it would be a best seller by now!
Sorry, he will only give up if he wants to. I-m sure he knows the consequenses.your right, you can-t -make anyone do anything, but particularly quit smoking..if anything they will probably smoke more as a result of -the fear that they may be taken away-..also if he has smoked like 40 years or so, it HAS TO come from within him.
i recently read there is a new pill/vaccine that takes the pleasure out of smoking, but it-s not on the market yet..something like the pill for alcoholics so they hate the taste of alcohol.
i have smoked for 40 years, and my young neice at 6(very informed) sat me down, and did the whole lecture, including, don-t you want to see us grow up?, etc., etc...very embarassing, but being disabled, exhausted and in pain 24/7, it seems the only vise left..and i know i am developing problems in my lungs.
The only time i did quit, was when a close friend said
-i really love you, and i want you to stop smoking-..coming from a place of love rather than judgment did the trick..i was healthy then so i switch addictions..i took up running.
hope this helps! How do i make someone stop smoking ? -

OK I know this question comes up a few times but I need a little advice. Ive been smoking for years and very addicted. Im trying to stop without medication or NRT by gradually cutting down. What do you think of my idea? What has worked for you? Or have you tried everything but failed? I would also like to know how much better you felt when you gave up.I smoked for ten years and when I gave up smoking, it was just finally time. When you-re ready, you-re ready. I didn-t use meds, or gradually cut down, or anything else. I just quit. I-d tried other methods in the past, but in the end, I think it just comes down to you have to want to stop. And God, yes - I felt so much better. It was like night and day. Good luck. The best thing you have already done is to decide to want to stop smoking. Gradually cutting down is a good way , for you to stop.
It is your own idea, and that is what counts . I have followed the same path many years ago,and after a few failed attempts, asked the Lord for strength . That was when I was able to quit, and could not stand the smell of tobacco or cigarette smoke any more. This has been 30 years ago, Now when I look back, the wanting or craving for another cigarette, was strong, the irritation of not having one, and perhaps the salivating , are the worst symptoms of withdrawal. Finding something to do with the hands that held the cigarette, such as typing, knitting, crochet, or sowing, drawing or painting, can be very helpful.Getting a lot exercise and breathing in fresh air is good as well, it will release a lot of tension. Whatever you do, if you fail, do not give up, try again and again. Giving up smoking is the best thing I have done for myself, and it feels like an accomplishment .No ashtrays are needed, and my handbag is clean. Treat yourself with something special, with the money saved, and help others once you are smoke free. Best wishes for successI-ve never smoked but my sister stopped smoking about 2 years ago. She did it cold turkey. She drank alot of coffee at the time and I guess that helped her through. She-s been smoke free ever since. She-s felt much better now that she has stopped. Don-t give up trying to stop. Good luck!I know how it was for. Smoking was how I dealt with depression, so it sucks for me sometimes too. I just decided to quit smoking one day and I stopped. That worked for me. I pretty sure that people would love to help you and motivate you.before u know it u have already diagnosed like this----a scar in the upper apex of the left lungs.and a note like this---unfit to work, not allowed travel abroad....a future was shattered.so EASY!just STOP IT.IT WILL BE ALL IN UR SELF DISCIPLINE.NO DRUGS,NO PERSON,NO CANDY.ONLY U CAN STOP THIS UR WILLINGNESS!GUESS IM NEAR TO UR QUESTIONMy roommates kept all the cigarettes from me. It took quite q while but I feel I saved my life.
Good luck, it won-t be easy.Just stop buying cigarettes. It-s easier than you think.Best way to stop smoking? -
