Best stop smoking method.? -

Best stop smoking method.? -

i am interested in a smoke free life. i have smoked for over 6 years, and im only 20 years old. i smoke about half a pack a day. i dont have a lot of will power so i want to use a -stop smoking pill- has anybody tried a pill and it worked. i need something that wont allow me to go through withdrawls and stop craving.A half a pack a day does not make you a heavy smoker...you should be able to quit easier than a lot of people. Have you tried the patches? They work pretty good for light smokers. Try real hard.Good luck.I have never tried a stop smoking pill...

I just kept trach of how many I smoked and how often during the day, then I took 1 away and worked on ther # for a bit then took 1 away and so on...

so if you smoke 10 a day... for the next week smoke 9, if you notice you are not missing that extra (10th ) cigarett, then reduce the # to 8 a day...

I also took the 10 a day and divided by how many hours I was awake and found that I smoked once every 2 hours, so I increased that time to 2.5 hours and worked it out to where I was smoking 1 cigarett every 6 hours (3 a day) and it took me a little longer to get to 2 a day and now I only have 1 in the morning with my coffee....I don-t really miss the nicotene, and sometimes I don-t smoke at all in a day.

With the help of my friends and family giving me a pat on the back everytime I can tell them -I didn-t smoke today!-, I-m feeling really goodabout myself. Matter of fact the cigarett I had yesterday tasted so bad that I put it out before I was 1/2 done...but todays tasted really good, so I guess I-m not quite ther yet...One day you will realize smoking is a mistake but obviously quite enjoyable. I just lost my taste for cigarettes but now I might smoke a cigar occassionaly. Think of the reason you started, look back on the memory and reflect. Then think of all the times you smoked a cigarette good times...well then think of how yellow your teeth get, how you always smell, and how you are damaging your lungs and heart and how you will improve and how your great sense of smell will come back. Just give up smoking so that you can smell the sweet scent of grass dew in the morning or the ocean breeze, or the taste of food back. You are damaging two of your great senses for smoking, think if it is worth it or not...I decided it was not and it gave me the will power to ween from a pack a day to only 5, then 1-2 per day. I had one in the morning because the day sucks without one, then one at night if I still wanted. Eventually I just said thats it this is my last cigarette, let me finish it and see how long it will be before I buy another pack. And I have been rolling smooth for a little over a month, and been working out getting much better results, food tastes great again, I dont smell, my teeth are brilliant, and I can smell everything, also my eyesight has improved since I dont let smoke reach the pupils anymore.
Go for it!My husband and I both quit smoking 15 days ago using chantix. It is a pill you can get a rx from your dr. Its still not -Easy- but it works. Several people I know have had great success taking this pill. Good luck.Should have thought about withdrawal BEFORE you started.

The best way to stop is to first determine that you really WANT to quit.

Second, stop buying cigarettes and tell your friends and co-workers NOT to give you any, even if you beg. There is no real magic pill for what you want, you have to work for it and learn the hard lesson for it to mean anything in the future.

Good luck and good health.um i like never touched a cigarette in my life but you should just try to chew gum alot maybe that will help

I am quitting smoking too.cold turkey failed every time i tried it.this time i started to cut out my-triggers- after dinner cig,on the phone cig etc.the first step was to put my cigarettes and my lighter each on opposite sides of the house everytime i wanted a smoke i had to go upstairs to get the lighter...downstairs to get the cig..and then outside to smoke.trust me this cut down on a lot of those impulse cigarettes! My replacement for cigarettes was water(i never drink enough water..always coffee)instead of food.after a week i added additional obsticals to the programm...first 2 days only one cig every 2 hrs..2 days later only one every 4 hrs...i am on my second week now and only smoke about 5-10 a day(down from 3 packs on a bad day).my final step will be to get a prescription for wellbutrin(heard good things about it) i hope that will do it.the best advice i can give you is to identifie your triggers and situations when you smoke...then work on eliminating and replacing those triggers with something that works for you.my dad used suckers..my neighbor gum..try what works best for you but stay away from food because it will cause weight problems and in the end you just replace one addiction with another.Good luck..i know how hard this isquiting smoking is very very hard...you need a support team, and either cold turkey or the patch or the gum, and the key to quitting, is really really wanting to. if you don-t really want to quit then you never will.It ain-t easy that-s for sure. A doctor told me I HAD to quit, Nicorette gum, and being away from people who smoked did it for me. Took a long time for the urge went away. There are, incidentally, good tips at the Nicorette web site.best of luck to youtry having your ear zapped with a laser,,, I dont remember the name of the procedure but have heard it is very effective, good luckI used a nicotine patch. I smoked 2-3 packs /day for 15 years or so . Make sure to drink alot of water and mega dose on vitamin C.I smoked for 12 years...i tried the patch...was allergic to the adhesive....the gum just didnt- cut it. Suprisingly enough i went and got the quit smoking in 7 days kit at the drugstore (as seen on tv) Worked like a charm....after one day....i never smoked again. Might want to give it a try. It was much much cheaper than the patches and gum and what not.Find a certified clinical hypnotherapist in your area and make an appointment. Many health insurances pay part or all of quit-smoking therapies, including hypnotherapy. It usually takes 4-8 sessions once a week for 4-8 weeks, which are about 1 hour long. I did this and experienced no withdrawal or weight gain. Once you-ve quit, if after a couple years, you feel the urge to start again, return to a hypnotherapist and do it again. Never take one more puff after you-ve quit. Eliminate all things in your home associated with smoking. Avoid all habits and behavior that are associated with smoking like lying on your bed reading, etc.

Get flavoured toothpicks (they come in mint, cinnamon) and suck on them. Eat sunflower seeds which are supposed to reduce nicotene cravings. Good luck!!
