Help, any tips to help me stop smoking? -
yeh, simply think of all the people that love you and think of all the ones you love. Then think of all the pain they will all go through when you get ill.
and if that worries you, dont light up another cig.
Practically, you can get patches and gum on prescription too. Dont go where your friends are likely to offer you a ciggie unless you-re accompanied by someone who doesnt smoke, they can back you up. Real friends will admire your decision to quit and will avoid tempting you.
It smells, its costly, and the taxes you pay line someone elses pockets...need i go on.? good luck my friend, I know its not all that simple, it will take some effort.think of deathTry a sugar-free hard candy. Keep them on you at all times so you can avoid lighting up or replacing a cigarette with junk food. If that doesn-t work, think about your lungs covered in thick, black tar. You can do it, you just have to want to!
I-m in the same boat!hey just don-t buy cigarettes and through them away !!!!!!!!
DUH!I-m trying to quit again for the new year too. I quit once before for over 2 years, then started again after my son was born. Some old and new tips that I-m using:
1. I am not going to carry any money to work with me. No cash, cards, nothing. If I need gas I-ll grab gas money and use it for that only. I keep some change for the vending machine if I need a snack and pack my own lunch. If I don-t have money, I can-t buy any.
2. At lunchtime, when I ususally smoke, go for a walk instead.
3. Every time I want a cig I tell myself as many times as needed -I am a non-smoker, I don-t want this- That became my mantra, the more I said it the more I believed it and the more I lived it.
4. Stay away from the bar for a while, if that is a prob for you. I would go and bum a couple from friends here and there. After a while, that stopped too.
5. We smoke outside at our house, and with winter here, the cold weather is making me not want to go out so much. Make that a rule in your house and stick to it. If you are sitting around cozy in your pj.s you will not want to bundle up and go out!
6. I bought a new car recently and the rule is no smoking in the car. (It smells too nice!)
7. I lost my grandma this Thanksgiving and my aunt a couple years ago to a fast growing lung cancer. Neither of them ever smoked. I have smoked for over 15 years. I am scared shitless, and vowed after grandma died I would quit.
8. I caught my 4 year old holding a lollipop stick like a cigarette, saying -look mommy, I-m pretending I-m smoking!-
9. Whatever you-re reasons for quitting are, write them down. Keep them with you and read them every time you think you want a cigarette.
These are the things I am going to keep in mind through my struggle, and pray for the strength to get through it once and for all. Hope something helps, or maybe youve had similar experience to keep in mind.
Best of luck to you, me and all the rest of you trying to quit this year...may God grant us willpower!!cool just like my new years resolution well i havn-t had a cigarette for almost two days thanks to twang a new version of lucas its alot better every time i get an urge i eat somechew that special gum that they sell or just stop.

You have to REALLY want to quit. Have faith.
And by the way, I feel 100% better and it-s been 13 years for me.
Good luck.Read the book -the easy way to stop smoking - by Allen Carr, its brilliant,I read it 8 weeks ago,it took 4 hours and ive not had a ciggie since...no withdrawals, nothing.
He has a 53% success rate.stop smoking by not buying any if your fags cosy £5 a packet put £5 in a jar every day see how it growsquit buying te smokes it is a simple solutionread Allan Carr easy way to stop smoking. i know you ll find this hard to believe as i did but it actually makes it easy to stop, felt great from time i put out my last ever cigarette and knew i would never smoke another one.yes, go to your family doctor and he can prescribe medication that will help curb the craving of nicotine. the medication is about $50 for a month supply, beats $55.00 a carton for smokes..Good Luck to you!start a new habbit- a healthy one like golf or bowlingWhat worked for me was this. I smoked so much that I got sick of smoking all together. It works by actually increasing your smoking dramatically and drinking. When you drink you will smoke more. It sounds very barbaric but it worked for me. The other thing to do is maybe visit cancer patients every week or so at your local hospital. Give your self good reasons to quit as well as rewards. You can do it ! Good luck !Hi,
I really empathise with you, I quit my 20 a day habit in a pain-free way this time last year!
No stress, no cravings, no weight gain, no pills, patches or gums.
The program I followed was recommended by a friend and now boasts a 90% success rate and is 100% fully guaranteed - can-t say fairer than that
All the best..think of someone you really like in your life
and now think you will lose him/her if you keep smoking (because u will die)
thats how my daddy stopped smoking
hope it worksWillpower.I stopped smoking on Xmas day 2004 at 3pm. I was in the middle of smoking a cigarette after dinner and I just decided I would stop. I haven-t smoked since.
I had tried to quit a million times in the past and never done it, always stopping for a short while and then starting again by having one or two - -they wont hurt me as a treat- - type cigarettes.
My advice to you is to find your motivation. Mine was a new man (now my husband) I knew I had to stop if I wanted to get him! If yours is your health or your loved ones really focus on it.
For a short time at least, avoid the usual smoking situations. So if that-s the pub - give it up for a while. I stopped going to the pub and also stopped drinking at coffee houses that allowed smoking. I used to love nothing more than a ciggie and a coffee - it was a matter of changing my habits.
Make your house non-smoking and become puritanical about it - don-t let anyone smoke in there - and throw out all of your ash trays and lighters.
Tell everyone that you have quit. Not that you are trying to quit - but that you have quit. Psychologically there is a big difference in the way you see it and the way other people treat you.
I have ahd success in the past using the nicorette inhalers - they make you look pretty strange, but they do give you a little of the satisfaction of having had a cigarette. I never got on with the chewing gum or patches. The inhaler meant I was in control of how much and how often. Sometimes one or two puffs gave me the feeling of just having put a ciggie out.
I wish you luck. Its hard work and I have put on a lot of weight, but 2 years on I am now a non-smoker and just about to overhaul my diet to sort the rest of my health out. If I gave up smoking I am sure I can give up eating unhealthily!24 hour patches did it for me. That was six months ago and I was a 2o plus a day smoker. You also need strength and will power, what also worked for me was to go out and get into a **** load of debt buying a new car and an expensive pedigreed dog, now I can-t afford it.
Good luck
